Hannibal set will be great and I'm going to try for one of the TJ Miller/Rory Scovel slots. Yes...there's not a huge comedy name this year like Conan, Fallon, Saget, or Tosh. Still going to be alright. We got a lot of current great acts.
I just saw Hannibal at Sasquatch and he is top notch right now. I thought he was hilarious at Roo in 2011 but this was even better. Dude knows what he's doing. The comedy setup at Sasquatch is so much better than what Roo's doing. During the day they use one tent for comedy and at night it houses DJs. This way the space gets used all day and it's more integrated into the fest. The tent is open on the back (like Roo tents) but has siding all the way down to the ground which helps create a nice feeling of enclosure and separateness. There's no seating but you could chill on the grass as there's side screens and another at the back of the tent for overflow. Best part is you just walk right in, no dedicating hours to standing in line, wondering if you will or won't get a ticket. I really hope Roo adopts something similar in the future. This doesn't show the back of the tent but it's the best I could find online:
This is exactly how FYF handled comedy, as well. It was so easy to see comedy there.

Did anybody get to check out TJ Miller and Rory Scovel? Hands down one of my favorite and goofiest acts I've seen in the comedy tent. Fucking hysterical.
Yea, that would be pretty awesome if they had a bigger tent that was open to walking in and out. The whole line and ticket thing, while better than it was in the past, is still such a time waster because of the whole process.
I completely agree. I also think that large acts, lets say Tosh last year, should be put on which or what. Not in a headliner spot, but late afternoon, maybe late night.
It took forever last year to get tickets. I was just to lazy to try this year

Upset about missing out on Rory Scovel.
I caught the Hannibal Burress show and the two female comedians before him were solid but nothing mindblowing. I also was able to catch (in the cinema tent) the live Drunk History thing which brought out Taran Killam and Kyle Mooney from SNL to do some bits as well as Bobby Farrelly (or maybe his brother Peter) to do some other stuff. Funny clips and live things inbetween.

I was at the TJ Miller "Banana Guy" show. If you were there, ya know what I mean. So fucking funny. Rory Scovel also killed with his piano player impression.
The comedy winner of the weekend was Hannibal Buress. He was by far the funniest comedian I've seen at Bonnaroo.
Here's a run down of the comedy shows ranked in order for the weekend:
1) Hannibal Buress 2) TJ Miller 3) Rory Scovel 4) Emily Heller - Saw her twice and she did two different sets. Highly respect this. 5) Bridget Everett - So fucked up, yet so funny. Happy Father's Day! 6) Brad Williams 7) Broad City - Interesting, but seemed too improvised. More entertaining than funny. 8) Sasheer Zamata - Such a let down. Seemed like she doesn't perform stand up often.
Side note here: I got to meet and dance beside Kyle Mooney during Lionel Richie, Jack White, and Elton John in the What Stage pit. Very cool guy and seemed to be having a great time at Roo. Wish I had seen Good Neighbor on the farm as well.

I saw Kyle Mooney during the Avett Brothers pit, as well. Cool to see him enjoying the festival's other acts too. Brooks Wheelan (also from SNL) showed up at some point also.

I was at this show too. After 8 Roo's, I finally made it to my first comedy show. Huzzah!
Though, my crew and I were very disappointed Neal Brennan got bounced from that show as a result of the Robinson cancel and subsequent schedule changes.
TJ Miller wasn't as funny as I expected, more entertaining than funny but Rory stole the show. I'm very much looking forward to seeing him again in Toronto in September.

I respectfully disagree. It has become incredibly convenient to attend the comedy shows now. I don't even bother showing back up until 10 minutes before showtime since there is always a decent spot. It's become part of my morning Bonnaroo ritual: Yoga > Meditation > Cracked > Comedy Ticket > Campsite > Comedy Show.

We ended up just randomly walking to the Comedy Tent after Cloud Nothings and got a ticket, very easily, for the last Brooks Wheelan show that night. And holy fuck, what a way to spend 45 mins/1hr! Brad Williams was hilarious after I got over the shock of seeing a midget comedian at Bonnaroo (CHEMICALS, OKAY?). Sasheer Zamata..... holy fuck, she was horrible. I don't even want to talk about her. Might have been one other warm-up act before Brooks, I'm not sure. I was half-way asleep.
Until Brooks Wheelan's time came. He stormed on stage, threw a steel chair, chugged a beer, and went right into his act. Then went into the crowd and told jokes to each section of the tent, starting with my section ("the new front row"). If you happened to have been there, you know where this is going. He did that for 5-10 minutes, then went back on stage, and wanted Master of Puppets to be played while he did jokes. Audio guy didn't have it on his computer, so he found a spectator in the crowd that had it on his phone and proceeded to do jokes for a few minutes while Master of Puppets was playing. You couldn't hear a goddamn word, but that was the point and it was so stupid it was hilarious. Then, he pointed out Hannibal Buress on the bleachers to the right of the stage.
And then he made TJ Miller come on stage for an unscheduled 10 minutes, and they told the "infamous" story of TJ's try-out for SNL. "Do you know how depressed I would have to be to spike a 6 pack of beer after a failed audition? I'M AN ALCOHOLIC!"
I always, ALWAYS have a good time at the Comedy Tent, and we NEVER pre-plan in advance to go see anyone there (especially after Conan in 2010). It always just happens.
