Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I'm really going to stop looking at the facebook BS (I agree with what Tom said, though, about wanting to comment because silence just feels wrong), but every time I have perused, that "whisperingwords" guy is INSANE. He has posted some incredibly violent and really disturbing shit on there. Anyone that hell-bent on attacking Bonnaroo and complete strangers needs a psychological evaluation. Honestly, I think the facebook staff over there needs to shut him down. Can't they do that somehow?
But, this is the last I'm gonna say about all this: I really do hope this insanity goes away and hope that the show (and the festival) doesn't have any major incidences. I love Bonnaroo (as all of us here to do) and this is terribly upsetting to see self-proclaimed "Bonnaroovians" act this way. The backlash from all of this is way more than I expected it to be. Just a little shocked, that's all. (ok, a lot shocked)
Fun fact: I can't remember if it was on the Bonnaroo or MOEMS facebook, but Inforoo was brought up at some point and he said he had been banned. I wonder who he was.
Edit: One of the things that is getting in the way is that the people who don't like Kanye anyway or are still mad at him and plan to stay away are unfortunately getting lumped in with the mutants who plan on throwing batteries and piss bottles at the stage. I don't understand still being that fired up about it, but it's fine as long as you aren't planning on screwing the show up for others.

See, we are doing our job well.
I seem to recall a saying about blind squirrels and nuts.
I've just been listening to Kanye's discography to prepare myself.
Man, College Dropout and Graduation are so good.
fuck cruel summer tho.
Cruel Summer is straight garbage outside of the singles
yeah. I also wish I could've appreciated college dropout for what it was when it came out, but I was only 8. Kanye is ok as a rapper, but his production is phenomenal.
I wasn't there in '08, so I can not attest to the "vibe" the day after the Kanye set that people said was so strange and uneasy, but what do these people, or "bonnaroovians", think is going to happen if they try and sabotage a set that thousands of people are excited for? Do they really think the rest of the week is going to be all chill-vibez and positivity? To be fair, I guess most of these people really don't think too often in the first place. But if a large group of people do try and pull some shit, it's not going to be Kanye that ruined Bonnaroo, it's going to be Bonnaroovians themselves that do it. They're seriously going to try to ruin thousands of people's weekend because they feel they got cheated out of an hours-worth of a Phil Lesh set (after he had already played an hour and a half) 6 years ago. Just boggles the mind.

Somehow they've justified creating a 100000000x worse "vibe" for the festival, up to and including threatening bodily harm on a performer and inevitably other attendees, over the inconvenience of chilling in a field for a few hours 6 years ago.

And now I feel old today. That was huge when I was in grad school.
I mean is Bonnaroo going to have to re-search everyone going in to What stage because that's going to be a pain in the ass. But frankly, Kanye is my number 1 on the lineup. I know a few weeks ago in the headliner thread I thought that hot heads would just stay away. But the whole thing on facebook is worrying me a bit. I could see all this fervor getting some idiot, who probably is at Roo for the first time, to do something stupid thinking that it's a cool thing to do. I've never seen a physical fight at Roo, but I could see some idiot doing something and then a couple people responding and then it sets off some others.

What the...?
Everyone's already going to be uneasy during his set, and not going to be able to fully let loose and enjoy it over the fear that some idiots are going to do something stupid. Even if it's 100% incident free, the whole show I would be a little on edge wondering when somebody was going to start throwing piss bottles or beer or what have you at the stage. That's not only dangerous to the performers, but to the crowd, equipment, staff, ect.

I'm hoping being in the front of the pit with other inforooers will negate most of that vibe, but a small part of me probably will be concerned about the "what ifs".

Why are people such wankers?
In addition to feeling uneasy about what might happen, I'm a bit worried about what Bonnaroo will do to prevent something from happening. I am sure they are watching everything as close as we are. How are you going to feel if they have to close the pits or move barriers back or put up some kind of screen or all of the above? I'd be real pissed that it came to that, but I see that Roo is going to have to do something to reduce liability. I just like how close you can get to the stage at Roo without the usual BS that you deal with at most concerts.

Everything will be fine. People freaked out about Metallica and Eminem too. I know this has more history and more vitriol but I don't think we have to worry about a mass of people all booing or attacking. Everyone talks tough behind a computer and folks aren't going to want to be kicked out of the festival because they are idiots.
What percentage of the festival population are these people claiming they are going to try to disrupt the show and/or throw beer/piss? My guess is less than 1%. I've looked at Facebook comments and it seems like it is the same people saying the same thing. I'm sure there are going to be some assholes there that are going make an ass of themselves. When they look around and see everyone is having a good time, despite their antics, they will migrate to some other place and pout about how "Bonnaroo has shit all over its history." or something similar. Sure walking around there will be plenty of people yelling "Fuck Kanye". That's nothing new. I'm not a Kanye fan, but, I think most people who aren't happy with him being there will be reasonable adults and just not attend his show.

This. It might be different if he was playing Sunday, but most people aren't gonna run that risk on Friday.
I tried, after all of the Kanye lover bashing towards me, to listen to him again.
Didn't work. It's still awful. Reinforced my position.
Hey man, i understand that, and to each his own in this regard. At least you aren't saying "HE'S SUCH AN ASSHOLE THAT I HATE HIS MUSIC". I despise Mumford & Sons music, but that doesn't make me want to go out and make others not enjoy them.

No doubt. I've said multiple times that there are many artists I don't like as a person. Kanye, well he is what he is. But his music just does not turn me on.
Excellent! now you don't have to worry about being at his set!
I've already said that I wouldn't.
But I got bashed for saying I disliked his music, what kind of a genius he was. His commercial success, etc. So I thought I'd give it another try. I couldn't make it through a single song on 808 or yeezus.

Is that all you tried?? Because, personally, those are not the Kanye albums i would start with.
I wouldn't have started with 808 or Yeezus, especially going in with a negative predisposition. But props for trying and theres plenty on the lineup I don't like, you shouldnt have to justify why you don't like it.

Honestly those are his albums that are the most different from the norm for him. I'm assuming you've already listened to college dropout and my beautiful dark twisted fantasy? If not I'd do that. But I can respect that he's not for everyone and applaud you for at least trying. You've come a long way. Lol
