Do these people realize he's played numerous festivals since without any problems whatsoever? That's one thing that leads me to believe him when he was talking about having trouble with the stage setup and everything. I think there are people who just don't like him and use 08 as a reason to bitch.

Interesting point: He has the 3rd most adds to people's schedules on the lineup, only behind Vampire Weekend (by a hair) and Elton John. Poor Lionel Richie is getting screwed though...

I just want to say that I appreciate the work some of you are doing trying to talk sense into some of those on Bonnaroo's facebook (Pops, crazykittensmile, Delicious Meatball Sub, etc.). You guys are fighting a losing battle though. Those people have already made up their mind and are not looking to actually discuss anything legitimate.

Thanks. You're right, of course. As I've always said, I have no problem with not wanting to see Kanye or not caring for Kanye's music is totally cool. But the racist comments and the hypocrisy I read got overwhelming and made me sad. I felt like I needed to post just once so my silence didn't feel to me like tacit approval of some of the posts there.

I still don't think there will be much of an incident at Roo. This initial outburst will probably calm down in a week or so and anyone who had designs on doing something at Roo will either end up doing something else or messing around in the back away from those really trying to see the show.

I'm really going to stop looking at the facebook BS (I agree with what Tom said, though, about wanting to comment because silence just feels wrong), but every time I have perused, that "whisperingwords" guy is INSANE. He has posted some incredibly violent and really disturbing shit on there. Anyone that hell-bent on attacking Bonnaroo and complete strangers needs a psychological evaluation. Honestly, I think the facebook staff over there needs to shut him down. Can't they do that somehow?
But, this is the last I'm gonna say about all this: I really do hope this insanity goes away and hope that the show (and the festival) doesn't have any major incidences. I love Bonnaroo (as all of us here to do) and this is terribly upsetting to see self-proclaimed "Bonnaroovians" act this way. The backlash from all of this is way more than I expected it to be. Just a little shocked, that's all. (ok, a lot shocked)
This all really reminds me of things with a girl I dated my senior year. We dated, and it started off great. Then I kind of screwed her over and she got pissed and we broke up. There was a war of words and some resentment there for awhile from her towards me and her ugly snobby bitchy best friend jumped in with her. So it was me against these two. We grew up and me and my ex are fine now and there are no hard feelings at all, we've put it in the past. But her snobby bitchy friend still make rude comments about me any time my name is brought up or she sees me. So guess what Facebook Kanye haters? You're the ugly snobby bitchy friend who needs to grow the fuck up.
