After two late night Which sets, I think it makes sense for the Flips to move over to What - especially with a potential cluster of late night slots.
They'd be a great preheadliner for any of the Top Three. I think Insider indicated that Lionel Richie was before Jack White on Saturday so that would be out but before Kanye or Elton? Both could work.
Having Phoenix as the other Pre would also be logical. I can't see them closing Which again and, again, LN looks hella crowded.

Cut Copy late night is the only one I truly care about.
But, I'm curious...can someone enlighten me regarding the "SBTRKT slot"? Is there a link to previous schedules? I haven't been since '09.
They played at like 3:00 in their afternoon while unchained and Pedro Martinez got LN slots.
Man, this post made me legitimately angry. I wandered up to Pedrito while waiting for GZA and there were MAYBE 30 people there. And if you weren't directly up front (admittedly not a problem) you might as well have been at Skrillex. I felt really bad for the people on stage playing.
I see at least six people on the Saturday schedule from that year that could have reasonably played That or Other during the Unchained/Pedrito debacle. Those people are Santigold, Childish Gambino, Das Racist, Battles, SBTRKT and Mogwai.
Great. Now I have anxiety about this year's scheduling.

Bonnaroo's scheduling is the reason I can't buy tickets when the lineup drops or when cheap tickets are available I can't trust them to not fuck it up. Luckily this year there are so many good bands it will be impossible for them to fuck it up too bad.

Well kind of... but no matter what, the conflicts well be killer

Saturday 2012. I watched superjam then the end of skrillex. A little of GZA before walking around. Unchained was qlready done and Pedrito had almost no one. My first thought was that it should have been a day show.
I dont think it'll happen again at least in the case of unchained. Bonnaroo hoped everyone would enjoy them ironicaly but it just wasnt meant to be.
It'll be interesting to see who's gonna be LN this year. Because there's a decent amount of EDMish acts that might be well suited to LN, but at the same time, Bonnaroo's gonna wanna schedule some variety in there (Pedrito, Unchained, Weird Al, ZZ Top). Not quite sure who those other acts are right now though. I definitely think we'll see Zedd, Kaskade, and the the Skrillex and ? superjams as a late night, but it wouldn't surprise me entirely to see Lauryn Hill, Frank Ocean, or Danny Brown either. Personally, I'm hoping for Chromeo, Cut/Copy, and Umphrey's.
Crazy talk. Warpaint at night would be awesome. They're great live.
But there's so many other better artists in my opinion that should have a LN slot before them
This thread is often a center for people who think LN will/should be mostly comprised of EDM or other acts that 'need' LN. The truth is that while there's a number of acts on the lineup that would benefit from a latenight show more than most acts, there isn't a super hard line between the ones that would and the ones that don't, and Bonnaroo rightly likes to schedule a variety of acts in these slots anyway. And for a lot of 'borderline' acts like James Blake and Cut Copy, a tent closer is pretty close to the same thing: remember, headliners start around 9:30-10, which means the preheadline sets around the farm begin just as the sun sets. A James Blake or Cut Copy set that starts at 8:00pm would be just about as good as one that starts at 1am, and probably even better because it won't be at the same time as Disclosure/Danny Brown/Skrillex/name your poison.
The fact is pretty much every act would benefit from LN, and there's a handful of acts that could really use it. Lemme list that shit.
Acts that 'need'/will almost certainly happen at night: Skrillex/Superjam (one of these could/probably will preheadline) Kaskade Disclosure Zedd
Acts that would strongly benefit from late night: Phoenix The Flaming Lips Cut Copy Wiz Khalifa Chromeo Broken Bells James Blake Umphrey's McGee Slightly Stoopid Janelle Monae Chvrches Glitch Mob The list goes on.
Acts that would benefit from happening at night: Everyone else.
Bonnaroo likes to mix up the LN. We will almost certainly see a good bit of EDM. We'll also see some rock, some hip hop, some poppy stuff, some jam, and who knows what else. In the end we'll be glad it's not a Van Halen tribute band. (Can I just say I'm at least a little glad I didn't go that year? Seriously, that might be the worst year on record. It's a matter of taste, but that's the only lineup/schedule that's hard for me to look at and figure out where I would want to be.)

The Unchained year did suck as a whole when you look at the lineup. But I had a great time with Umphreys on Friday and the Questlove/D'Angelo Superjam-> GZA on Saturday.
This year is tough. There is a lot of EDM/electronic type acts and some are gonna get left out of Late Night.
I am really hoping for a Phoenix LN Which, but I have a feeling they might do something like Frank Ocean-> Kaskade and then Skrillex the next night.
