Kanye really needs to be College Dropout.
Unfortunately Pusha T doesn't do much Clipse at shows anymore, but if you just want to hear him at his greatest you need to listen Hell Hath no Fury. YYEEEEAUUUKKK Dominates EVERY track on there.
I think City and Colour's best starter album would be Bring Me Your Love.
I feel more strongly about specific songs to get into an artist. seeing as I have had some classy boxed wine, imma do what I want, and y'all better love it.
I'll start with the best cover ever: dr dog: heart is races - architecture in helsinki cover. it's the song that made me listen to dr dog (and fall in love). I lost my shizz when they played this live.
typhoon: young fathers, "white lighter"
capital cities: center stage, "in a tidal wave of mystery" (kangaroo court is damn near 2nd, but this song just makes you feel like a superstar.)
classixx: I'll get you, "hanging gardens"
fitz & the tantrums: the walker, "more than just a dream" sidenote: this video is weirdly entertaining.
the glitch mob: we can make the world stop, "we can make the world stop"
john butler trio: ocean, no album? i dunno. best live thing ever. if you must, skip to 5:08 to really hop to the magic. but really, listen/watch it all.
MS MR: bones, "second hand rapture"
phosphorescent: the quotidian beasts, "muchacho"
robert delong: global concepts, "just movement" can I just say that this is one of the sweetest music videos ever?
I do apologize for the length. hope some of the material is appreciated.
^^ Swampbutt, we're immediately friends after that post.
How the fuck has no one mentioned Tumbleweed Connection for Elton?!
J Roddy Walston & The Business - self-titled
I don't mean to be that guy, but I do know a guy who's friends with Roddy Walston. My dad's insurance consultant actually, and he told me about him a few years ago. I had no idea at that time that I would be hearing him on regular rotation on Satellite and FM radio and seeing him on Bonnaoo, Coachella, and numerous other high profile line-ups! Pretty cool.
Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road Jack White - Elephant (White Stripes album) [E-Note: White Blood Cells is a close second] Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix Arctic Monkeys - AM Frank Ocean - Channel Orange Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea Disclosure - Disclosure* Zedd - Clarity* Broken Bells - Broken Bells Ben Howard - Every Kingdom* Fitz & the Tantrums - Pickin' Up The Pieces Cake - Fashion Nugget Janelle Monae - The Archandroid CHVRCHES - The Bones of What You Believe* Capital Cities - In a Tidal Wave of Mystery* Chance the Rapper - Acid Rap* Sam Smith - Nirvana* Danny Brown - Old A$AP Ferg - Trap Lord* Darkside - Psychic* Shovels & Rope - O' Be Joyful* Carolina Chocolate Drops - Genuine Negro Jig ZZ Ward - Til the Casket Drops* MS MR - Secondhand Rapture* First Aid Kit - The Lion's Roar Rudimental - Home* Omar Souleyman - Wenu Wenu* Vintage Trouble - The Bomb Shelter Sessions* Robert DeLong - Global Concepts* Cloud Nothings - Attack on Memory BANKS - London* Break Science - Seven Bridges* The Lone Bellow - The Lone Bellow* La Santa Cecilia - Treinta Dias* Classixx - Hanging Gardens* Allah-Las - Allah-Las* Vance Joy - God Loves You When You're Dancing* Haerts - Hemiplegia* Deafheaven - Sunbather St. Paul & the Broken Bones - Half the City* The Wild Feathers - The Wild Feathers* Blank Range - Phase II*

The case against Zonoscope:
"Need You Now" is potentially the best Cut Copy song, and the album ends strongly with "Corner of the Sky" and "Sun God," but those admittedly great bookends have resulted in widespread overrating. The album is loaded with filler. Nearly every track on In Ghost Colours sounds like it could have been a single, and those are the ones that are going to get the biggest reactions out of a festival crowd.
As for Nick Cave, I think Let Love In is a more diverse album than Murder Ballads and makes for a better introduction to a discography that jumps around all over the place. I personally started with Murder Ballads, though, and I ended up a superfan, so you can't go wrong with either.

I guess for diversity and getting into the catalog as a whole I'd also go with Let Love In. However, neither of these Cave choices are the best overall. That would be Boatman's Call.
Kanye Wet- The College Dropout (Not my favorite album from him, just the correct starting place) Vampire Weekend- Modern Vampires of the City Deafheaven- Sunbather Pusha T- My Name is My Name Danny Brown- Old Grouplove- Never Trust A Happy song
