Change my vote for Twins to Melted. I like Twins more, but they're both good indicators of Ty's songwriting and Melted is actually on Spotify.

For purposes of this thread:
Avett Brothers should be Emotionalism. It's the closest to their current sound and setlist without the shit that happened once Rick Rubin got his grubby hands on them. Phosphorescent - Muchacho Goat - World Music Chromeo - Fancy Footwork Polica - Give You the Ghost Ice Cube - Death Certificate (unless N.W.A. albums are included, then it's Straight Outta Compton) Drive-By Truckers - Is The Dirty South the one that's close to consensus? I'd say Decoration Day, but I'm ok with TDS if that's the one others have said.
I think for Cube you have to include Straight Outta Compton. His most famous lyrics are from that album and the cultural impact it had, with Cube as its centerpiece, is still felt today.
I thought about DC for his, but I think people who haven't listened to him much before will recognize more from Predator. Basically, listen to all three of those and realize that Ice Cube used to be a lottttt different than the family movie-making guy he's become.

The Dirty South - 8.4 Decoration Day - 8.0
Your tastemaker says The Dirty South.
My tastemaker is making garlic chicken thighs in a slow cooker right now. I guess I'm just a maverick.

Disappointed to see 'Giving Up The Nappy Dugout' not included in any of his recent setlists. Great seeing the NWA stuff. Cube's verses were always by far the best.

Okkervil River - The Stage Names is brilliant. So many songs on that record are fantastic, especially 'Unless its Kicks' and 'A Girl In Port'. The Stand Ins is a close second Phosphorescent - Muchacho from 2013 is my favorite record of theirs. Song For Zula is a standout Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - choosing a favorite like choosing your favorite child. Though, it has to be Your Funeral, My Trial. Henry's Dream or Let Love In might be the most accessible. Arctic Monkeys - critics are all upons 'AM'. I think Suck It & See is by far their best record. 'Whatever People Say I Am...' is a close second. Little Dragon - Machine Dreams, by a hair over Ritual Union. Both are good. Damon Albarn - Parklife (okay, so that one is cheating)
The Avett Brothers - Emotionalism Chromeo - Fancy Footwork Phosphorescent - Muchacho Drive-By Truckers - The Dirty South The Wood Brothers - Ways Not To Lose Goat - World Music
Bands that Noone can Agree On
Kanye West - College Dropout has the most votes, closely followed by MBDTF and Late Registration. No Yeezus votes, but that'll be a big part of his setlist too
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Let Love In and Murder Ballads both have their supporters, although the Let Love In side has stuck around to state their case
Damon Albarn - His new solo album, Everyday Robots, isn't out yet, so people are just listing Blur albums, which helps a little I guess?
Wiz Khalifa - Slight edge to rolling papers so far
James Blake - S/T and Overgrown are all tied up
Ice Cube - Straight Outta Compton from his NWA days, then 3 of his other albums have multiple votes
Cage the Elephant - S/T and Melophobia are all tied up
Andrew Bird - The Mysterious production of Eggs and Break it Yourself are all tied up
Dr. Dog - Everyone has their own favorite boring Dr. Dog album. Slight edge to Easy Beat
Little Dragon - Early love for Ritual Union, recent push for Machine Dreams
Washed Out - Paracosm, Within and Without, and Life of Leisure are all getting love
Lucero - Single votes for 3 different albums
Polica - Early love for Shulamith, recent push for Give You The Ghost
Ty Segall - Melted and Slaughterhouse appear to both be worthy, Twins has fallen behind
King Khan & The Shrines - Idle No More and The Supreme Genius... are all tied up

Kanye - MBDTF is his masterpiece, College Dropout is the rawest he ever was as a recording artist. I vote MBDTF because in the end I'll take quality over potential, but it's close. Nick Cave - Let Love In Wiz - Rolling Papers (it's the only good thing he's ever created, so that's easy) James Blake - Overgrown, by a nose.

I know adding two albums for artists (if applicable) could be annoying, but IMO there is a difference between a starter and essential album for a good amount of artists. I think Kanye is a great example. I'd consider MBDTF or College Dropout to be a great starter album, but YEEZUS is an essential album. I guess I would consider the setlist heavy album to be an essential album, whereas the starter album helps introduce you to the artist (typically early work).
This is just a thought, but if others agree it wouldn't hurt to list 2 albums for some artists.
