This is the second time he’s delayed an album without notice (TLOP which wasn’t even his album). It’s just really hard to root for him to do well when doesn’t seem to respect his fans or people waiting to enjoy his work.
There’s so much to like about him as a person, seems weird to indict his character based on an album delay.

He's as human as anyone else so he's gonna have a mix of good and bad qualities, but he's basically ghosting the people who made him successful. Idc as much about the delay as I do the lack of communication. Like if I'm supposed to meet up with someone and they show up a half hour late, that's shitty. But if they let me know beforehand that they're being held up, it's a lot more palatable. It just feels like a lack of courtesy.
First two tracks are good, third has some interesting lines in it for sure and is kinda funny. But holy shit Hot Shower is awful. DaBaby's verse came through but the rest was trash.
"It all started with a, well, chance encounter three years ago backstage at Bonnaroo. Turns out that we and Chance The Rapper had a bit of a mutual admiration society going on, and we had a very fun hang in our dressing room, in which he revealed a straight-up impressive familiarity with some pretty deep Death Cab catalog cuts, and during which the possibility of a collaboration was briefly mentioned.
Fast forward to 2019, and we were truly surprised and honored when Chance got back in touch and asked us to be part of a song called "Do You Remember", which appears on his debut record, THE BIG DAY, which is out worldwide as of right now. We couldn't be more thrilled.
Thank you, Chance, and congratulations on your big day!" - Death Cab for Cutie
I made it through the first 13 tracks. So far nothing nearly as bad as Groceries, but nothing that really sticks out either. It just feels like a chore to listen to. There's nothing I can see myself going back to. A lot of it just sounds like Disney Channel music. The features have been the most interesting parts to me. The Shawn Mendes song might actually be my favorite song because of the house beat.
half way through and this is really underwhelming so far, i really enjoyed Coloring Book and this doesnt really come close so far. I loved all of the singles he released leading up to this except Groceries. I havent heard a track yet that I like more than those 5 or 6 singles.

I actually didn't have a problem with Hot Shower. No it's not really good but it didn't take it self too seriously so I thought it was kind of funny. The first three songs aren't bad but other than that this album is garbage. Roo is one of the worst songs I've heard this year.
