Heard a lot of ppl who stayed overnight are trapped in the mud and being told it'll cost $200 to tow them out. If that's true it's very lame. But I seriously doubt Hudson has anything to do with that.
Good thing I broke down my camp Sunday morning and actually listened when they told ppl go to their vehicles during evacuation. The second I heard the fest was shot, I hit the road and was home 2 hours later.
I guess peoples biggest issue with being told to evacuate is that people were fucked up and felt like they were being told to drive. Judging by every single thing Hudson posted on FB I'd say it was the exact opposite. They were encouraging anyone who could SAFELY leave to do so because the rain was expected to continue and the grounds were going to deteriorate even more.
I also think that it has a lot to do with the people's reactions. I would never start ranting and raving about filing lawsuits because I'm stuck in the mud at a festival. Some of the comments on FB are seriously appalling. It sounds like a bunch of kids who have no idea the way the real world works and expect instant gratification. Yes, you're stuck in the mud, that sucks. But so are thousands of others, it's proooooobably going to be a whole before you're towed out. I've heard the same thing about the tow prices. But like you said, charging $200 probaby has nothing to do with Hudson. When you use private companies (which I'm sure they are) they have the right to charge whatever they want. That sucks, but why get mad at the fest for it.
As far as the possible drug dogs on the grounds, that sucks. I bet it had something to do with keeping their permit tho. Festival organizers know what's going on, I doubt theyd choose to have that kind of stuff going on.
Sucks the fest ended this way, but I'm really glad you had a good time & are safe!

I've never seen anything like their FB page. It's overflowing with vitriol, with hardly any positive posts at all. I guess the Red Cross has been called in to set up a shelter for all the people who still are stuck.

It sucks that all those people are stuck on the grounds, but I just don't understand how you can get so upset at the festival itself. I mean, crap weather is part of the risk of going to a festival.
The dogs might not have even been drug dogs, they might have been bomb dogs. I know venues like Tanglewood have bomb dogs at their shows for added security.
Overall, I'm sad to hear all of the negative stuff. Hopefully the fest takes it all in stride and uses what they've learned to improve for next year. It'd be nice to have a fest only 45 minutes away.

Facebook comments are claiming that the festival won't let AAA and other people trying to help in the gates and apparently workers/tow trucks/tractors are charging people a good chunk of money to help get them unstuck from the mud. That would piss me off for sure. Some people saying things like "Me, my friend, and another person I know all tried to get in and help but we were refused entry". Seems dumb.
everyone is mad because no one got to see their basslord is my guess hahah
I was going to say something similar. But I didn't want to generalize... I've seen Bassnectar live but I don't really remember seeing all the die hard fans. Over the past year I've seen many more of these Bassheads or Bassfam or whatever the fuck they call themselves, and they seem pretty obnoxious. Every negative post seems to be followed by outrage at Bassnectar not performing. They're just all very negative and are coming off extremely immature by constantly threatening lawsuits and civil action and demanding refunds and all that stuff. I don't understand how people think like that.
It's a sad world we live in when people are threatening lawsuits because one day at a music festival was rained out.

I saw that. Hudson commented back saying they're not letting more people in to help because they don't want more people getting stuck? Apparently it's supposed to rain again there soon and they're worried it's going to get even worse if they let more vehicles in. I see the logic in regards to the locals, but I'm not sure why AAA wouldn't be allowed in.
The Facebook comments have been a very sad form of entertainment for me today....

If you google Hudson Music Project arrests, there was something like 50+ in the 3 days with a ton of them for misdemeanor mary jane possession. I don't partake anymore but that's an awful lot of people to be booked in 3 days - you have to be ball busting for that.
Only 2 pics involving dude's asses? You can do better.
Hahaha. The best part is the guy running who totally eats shit during the video of the rain coming down inside the festival venue. It's at the beginning.

That seems pretty counterproductive. Wouldn't you want as much help as possible? Unless it's some sort of contractual thing that helped them get the property. Unfortunate situation for all involved.
And the first story of the night on the local news? People still digging out of the mud in Saugerties. They had some footage of the grounds. Looks like hell.

If it's like Bonnaroo, they have a contract with one tow truck. So they're not getting out till that tow truck pulls them out one by one.

Damn. Drug dogs they are then. Doesn't really surprise me, but I was trying to be optimistic. There's a bit of a drug problem in this area. They're flexing their muscles to make it look like they're actually doing something.

This was not the only lawsuit resulting from Woodstock. The promoters were sued for damage to property, loss of revenue because of the traffic problems, even for disturbing the peace. All but one or two were either dropped or won outright, Rosenman told Makower. One was settled by paying a farmer $73 to make up for his cows not giving milk. Reaction to the festival was decidedly mixed among the residents of Bethel, N.Y. Some of them reportedly went to their graves without having one good thing to say about the event. A township supervisor was defeated in the next election by another man who ran almost exclusively on the pledge of making sure another festival would never take place there.
