last year it didn't sell out. my guess is that they released a lot less 3days to allow room for the single days this time.
there are a few ways to buy a 3day at this point: -buy three single days -craigslist -stubhub -ebay
i know it sucks with most of those b/c to get the best price, you really are going to have to wait until it gets closer which is hard b/c of travel plans. just know for sure there will be a ton that pop up, as they do every year.
i'm planning on probably just buying a day for whenever outkast plays.
Yea it sucks because of travel plans for sure. As of right now I'm not canceling my hotel reservations, I think it's free cancellation up to a week out, so I'm good there.
Absolute worst case scenario I guess I suck it up and spend the extra $70 on 3 single days, if I end up going still, which remains to be determined. Waiting for a friend to make up his damn mind!
I'm really upset at how the days are split for me.
Friday has the people I'm most excited to see (*cough*Sam Smith*cough*), Saturday has the most number of bands I want to see, and Sunday is super light but has 3 acts I was really looking forward to (Lorde, Chromeo, & Phantogram).
This really threw a wrench in my plan.... Back to the drawing board.
The day by day breakdown and single day tickets really has me considering making this trip and getting a Saturday pass. Would it be hard to come by a reasonably priced hotel room in the area this close to the festival?
Maybe it's just me but I think they did a great job with the spread of bands this year. There's a solid 6-7 bands every day I would see but I know there will definitely be some conflicts. I probably won't be in the fest as early as some of the other ones I've been to because I wanna enjoy Austin a little bit during the day beforehand. Here's what I'm looking at...
Friday: Outkast, Foster The People, Childish Gambino, Chvrches, St. Vincent, Capital Cities, Sam Smith, Blackberry Smoke
Saturday: Eminem, Lana Del Ray, Avett Brothers, Head & The Heart, Broken Bells, Rebelution, Trombone Shorty
Sunday: Pearl Jam, Lorde, Zedd, Spoon, Chromeo, Phantogram, Fitz & The Tantrums, Gaslight Anthem, AFI, Kongos
I doubt any of these bands will be that early in the day where I'll have to get there early. Maybe BB Smoke and Kongos but that's it.
Outkast vs Beck? The Replacements vs Spoon? Fuck you, ACL.
Outkast and Beck were bound to clash, as they were always slated as Friday headliners... but Spoon vs the Replacements is just poor scheduling. The Replacements really should have that 7pm slot that both Chromeo and Lorde were given.
Fuck this schedule. Seriously. Every band I want to see directly conflicts with each other, then I have huge blocks of nothing. Ugh. At least most of my choices are easy. Except Spoon vs Replacements. I missed spoon at Forecastle, but the Replacements were GREAT. Idk what I'm gonna do about that one........

Agreed. J Roddy vs Sam Smirh vs St Vincent is really, really awful. Buuuuut considering that half the reason I'm going is for Sam Smith the choice is really easy for me.
