So last week I found out that my aunt never booked my hotel room and now the family & friend rate rooms are all booked up. This means I have nowhere to stay. Everything I've found hotel wise is too expensive. I looked on VRBO & found two places but neither owner has emailed me back and I even just went ahead and booked one and the owner has yet to "confirm" my reservation, which means it's not actually booked yet. I found some other affordable places that arent in walking distance but Im reluctant due to the cab situation that fuzzy described before. What is parking like here? I could drive I suppose and get one of these places that are further away, it'd be like a 10 min drive for most of them. But I don't want to get screwed on parking....
Any advice on places to stay within walking distance or better transportation options much appreciated.

I've parked here for $10 during ACL. It's about a mile from Zilker Park. You can stop at Austin Java along the way for an excellent Honeynutte Latte or Vietnamese iced coffee and breakfast. You will pass by several other great restaurants as you walk down Barton Springs Road to the fest and you'll notice that even though they are only a block or two closer than the Long Center they charge $30-$40 for parking.

i almost always drive and park somewhere around the park. if you get there early enough in the day (before 2 usually), austin high usually sells spaces to make money for the band or something. there is also parking in the neighborhoods close to zilker. some people will be assholes and put cones in front of their houses, but most of the time you can find a spot somewhere within a mile or so.
Well if you end up going to Life is Beautiful then I'd say that's a win. That line up is pretty amazing.
Nothing would compare to a fest on my birthday weekend, but it was getting too expensive. I hope your hotel situation got sorted out.
I feel ya. I've definitely invested way more money into this trip than I originally planned on.. Probably not the wisest decision I've ever made, but oh well. I ended up finding a decently priced room at some hotel called Orangewood Suites. Mapquest says it's a 10 minute drive so hopefully that's true. Not ecstatic about driving because we all know I have no self control when it comes to alcohol. The last thing I need is a DUI in Texas. Lol. But the price was right so oh well.
Sucks that it didn't work out, but if you do go to Life Is Beautiful though just know I'm gonna be super jelly over here.
p.s. EAP... Did you decide if you're going yet or not?
So due to some changes personally, I'm not going to be heading to ACL this year which is a kick in the balls. I have my 2 3-day passes for Weekend Two listed on Ebay to see if I can make some money on them but if anyone on here is willing to snatch them both up together I'll definitely drop the price. Let me know if anyone's interested or knows someone interested. Thanks.
I have 2 Friday only passes for sale at face value. They're also on stubhub already and should be the cheapest ones there. So either PM me or just get them there.
Everything sold. Wish I would've seen that Sunday all of weekend 2 period had sold out, I could've made a little profit off of our Sunday tickets.. oh well. I'm sure finding them for face value on Stubhub made someone's day.
I really hope the weather cooperates for weekend 2 this year. We don't need a repeat of last year. I have the rain gear ready just in case
If it's like last year you better bring a boat. I had forgotten about it until this post, but I'm still bummed about missing Atoms For Peace due to the park flooding. The area had a flood that was just as bad a couple of weeks ago, so maybe nature won't be too harsh on the festival goers next weekend.

Agreed but they did a free show that night at Austin Music Hall. It was pretty jammin'

Yeah. I missed that but caught Divine Fits and a few other shows that Sunday night.
Probably nothing more than they couldn't get contracts signed by the time they put it up. I'm not 100% sure that OutKast has been streamed by any festival, but I'm probably wrong.

I'm not sure either other than Coach weekend 1 and then they had Coach weekend 2 on AXS, but neither were full performances.

No Eminem in sight because he doesn't want you to know he lip-syncs. His 2014 Lolla performance was uninspired and lifeless. I left after 16 songs and saw Phantogram, who absolutely destroyed the Grove as a headliner. I have lost respect for Eminem, because if you can't do it live: then it just doesn't feel the same. Embarrassing!

I bought overpriced 3 day passes to see Eminem on Saturday. The man could take a piss on stage and I'd be happy. I love me some Em. No shame.
