Eff you both. Don't judge me and I won't judge your metal & skrillex.
And really, those decisions would all be fairly easy except the last, which would go to Lana since I've seen the other two.
I like how you curse at me and then basically agree with me. Nice. For the record, I would make the same call on the last. I have seen the other two. In addition, I just don't like Beats Antique that much and the Avetts' live show since they went to the full band is a step down.

Beats Antique's stage show is pretty interesting which peaks my interest enough to want to check them out. I'm so-so on their music, don't love it don't hate it. I actually only ever listen to them when I'm hooping. And I actually LOVE Avetts live. Prefer them live now actually. I never saw them before this year though, apparently I missed out.
and technically I didn't curse at you, I have a potty mouth. So "eff you" from me is like a love tap. XOXOXOXO

Oh yeah. There is normally about three acts at each venue for after shows. Some bands will be the only act on the card so you'll have to leave during the headlining set if you want to catch those shows from the start. If you rented a bicycle you could get downtown a lot quicker than with a cab. The line for a cab will be an hour wait at least after. the fest closes. There will be pedicabs but they often try to overcharge. There is a free shuttle to and from the fest that runs from downtown, north of the lake. Also, the last couple of years Sunday night has had nothing happening after the fest.
I've never stayed there, but that's mainly due to it not being available when I tried to book.
Here's a place further away from downtown, close to the university, that I have stayed at and recommend. The owner and staff are great and I always have a great time when I stay. They will help you find the easiest way to get to the fest and probably invite you to a party or two.

i don't like the sounds of this. Looks like the LN shows are pretty good too, but im not leaving Outkast early. Nope.
I tried to look up the prices for last years shows, but couldn't find anything except who played. Any idea on that?
Also, last year LN shows were announced on Aug 19th, so hopefully they come out in the next few weeks.

Between $20 and $60. Savages did a late night at a club for 10 or 15 bucks last year. I wouldn't leave Outkast either. I'd hope the late night I was most excited about would be Saturday night.

I haven't decided whether I'm going to this. I'm not a big fan of the lineup but there is enough throughout the day to keep me interested. A Spoon or Replacements after show would really help sway me towards making the trip down to Austin.
Alright, looks like I have my schedule set. Only a few conflicts for me really- St Vincent/Sam Smith, Chromeo/Phantogram, Kongos/AFI, and Spoon/Replacements. Rest is pretty easy for me.
Friday:
2:15 pm: Capital Cities 4:15 pm: Chvrches 5:15 pm: Sam Smith 6:15 pm: Foster The People 8:15 pm: Outkast
Saturday:
2:30 pm: Trombone Shorty 4:30 pm: Head And The Heart 6:30 pm: Avett Brothers 7:30 pm: Broken Bells 8:30 pm: Eminem
Sunday is by far my favorite day. Given the way the sets are running together I'm gonna have to miss some songs to get to other stages but I'll just see how each show is going and decide from there.

Rough draft for weekend two
FRIDAY Night Terrors of 1927 - some of Preatures/Temples - Jimmy Cliff - Lake Street Dive - Chvrches - St. Vincent - Outkast
SATURDAY The Chain Gang of 1974 - Benjamin Booker/Spanish Gold - Mac DeMarco - Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue - tUnE-yArDs - Interpol - Lucius - Lana Del Ray - Broken Bells
SUNDAY The Stapletones - Wood & Wire - The Legendary Soul Stirrers - Nikki Lane/Bernhoft - Real Estate - Jenny Lewis - The Replacements - Lorde - Pearl Jam
Not too exciting. I wish the Replacements and Oukast were on the same night. I'd just get a day pass.

My ideal days for W2
Friday: Jon Batiste, CHVRCHES, St. Vincent, Gambino or FTP (cannot pick), Outkast
Saturday: Benjamin Booker, Mac DeMarco, Trombone Shorty, Interpol or H&TH (god dammit..), Avett Brothers, Eminem
Sunday: KONGOS, Fitz, Chromeo, The Mats, Lorde, Pearl Jam
Sunday is going to be killer. Literally going to be running from 5-10. Hoping some of the after shows will solve my Friday and or Saturday conflicts. Or maybe loosen up my Sunday. Gambino and Interpol for after shows would be graaaavy
For anyone who's been, how big is the miller lite stage? Sam Smith is scheduled to play there and the pictures of the crowds he's been playing to lately are massive. What are the odds he'll get bumped to the main stage? (Preferably Honda stage between CVRCHES & Childish Gambino...)

ACL has two main stages and two others that have similar field capacity , so almost four main stages. There are screens at all four of those stages. Miller Lite should hold his crowd, but I've seen it get super packed for acts who had a surge in popularity from the time the schedule was released to the fest dates. It should be ok.

Thank you. Although I was actually hoping he'd get bumped. It'd work better for my schedule. I'd just park my butt at the same stage all day.
Wow! Beck at Stubb's Thursday Oct. 2. Rhye at the beautiful Paramount theater. And A Spoon latenight for weekend 2 so people don't have to feel bad about missing them for The Replacements.
I know. Kinda pissed about Beck LN for weekend 1, I'll be there weekend 2. But Spoon definitely eases skipping them for replacements. That was a tough one for me!
Is there anywhere to see how much that CHVRCHES aftershow is gonne be? Definitely interested but I don't have a legit conflict with them on Friday of Weekend 2 anyway. Seeing their own show would be more enjoyable though.

I don't know that I've ever heard of an act changing stages like that.

You're crushing my dreams of an easier schedule... However, the CHVRCHES after show helps a lot. I'll be skipping them to get a good spot for my man. I don't know if you guys know this, but Sam Smith and I are in love. We're basically married..
How realistic is it to see the majority of Outkast on Friday and make it to the Skrillex show? Doors at 8 and there's 2 acts before him.
You can do it. Skrillex may be in the early part of his set by the time you get there. I'd personally want to stay until the end of Outkast. The cab line will be long after the close of the fest Friday night. It may be best to get on the shuttle bus to downtown and run or walk fastly to Stubb's from there. You may spot and be able to flag down an unoccupied cab in the downtown area once the shuttle drops you off, but don't count on it. They stay on specific route for the most part for the fest and pick up another passenger usually as soon as they drop one off.

I caught Outkast at Firefly in June. Mostly interested in the songs they'll be playing in the first half of their set!
I got a ticket for it in the pre sale this morning. $30 isn't too bad!

Any good camping around ACL? I'm interested in going and camping isn't a deal maker or breaker but if some decent quality camp grounds are close that would be awesome. Any input is appreciated.
