In 2005 it rained on and off most of the fest. 2004 had 3 storms on Saturday and one big one on Sunday. Other than that I don't think so. Lots of Bonnaroos where it rained right at the end. I'm getting my wife and I mentally prepared for a muddy one.
One point I'd like to make: these forecasts do not matter in the south, especially for rain. I live in South Carolina and the other day it was supposed to rain all day. This was the forecast for the day of the supposed rainstorm. It rained once for about 5 minute in the middle of the day. It is really hard to predict when it will rain down here. So just prepare for the worst.
Wednesday Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 1pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 84. South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. Wednesday Night A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. South wind around 5 mph.
Thursday A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 85. South wind around 5 mph. Thursday Night A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 67.
Friday A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 86. Friday Night A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66.
Saturday A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 87.
Check back with the link once or twice a day, leading up into Roo weekend. Looking to me like it'll be pretty warm, a bit muggy, and a chance of popup storms the entire time (usually late afternoon and evening hours). It's not the brutality of 2010, but it's not the beauty of 2012 either.
I think we need to stop the "quacking". It's like we're all hinting to God that we wanna party like ducks! I'm with Cantalope, let's stop looking at the weather. Just be prepared for whatever.
Not sure if you're aware of this or not, but most people aren't typing "quacking", it's simply the word filter in place on these boards ("quack" = f@ck). There's a thread where you can sign up to have the word filter removed if you want. If you knew about it and enjoy the filters, then never mind and carry on!
Golly. Next time I try to make a joke to give fellow roo'ers some chucks. I'll be sure to add a (just kidding). Shame on me for lacking the savviness. But, "Carry on"?. Way to radiate positivity, Admiral. Please check that quack at the Farm gate, homey!

Huh? I was genuinely trying to help. I didn't know if you knew about the ability to have the word filter removed or not. A LOT of people don't.
"If you knew about it and enjoy the filters, then never mind and carry on!"
How do you take this negatively? I'm simply saying, that if you did know about the ability to remove the filters and you enjoy them, to disregard what I said and enjoy them.
I can assure you there was ZERO negativity in my post.

I guess I've heard that phrase used in the most negative way too many times (Navy). I've also worked alone on night shift for five years so my social skills need the Roo "reset". I'm sorry. You'll find in life that most misinterpretations, like that, have much to do with perception. Have a most excellent Bonnaroo! And , Party on Dude!

Word. For this time of year, it seems like most weather people just drop a 30-60% chance of rain every single day just to cover their bases.

No worries man
I'm actually curious about how many people have a negative connotation with the phrase "carry on". I've just always used it with a similar meaning to something like, "keep on keepin on". Nothing negative at all about it. Is it strictly a Navy thing?
Ever heard someone say, "Carry on, smartly."? It means quack off and mind your own business (if you know what's good for you). Some people let rank, position, status, and the ever-spoiling inherited-wealth turn them into the most self-entitled, cantankerous quacks you've ever seen.
We're going a little off the rails now. I see alot of sales on rain boots. Just make sure you get one size bigger than what you need, unless you get the ones that go over your shoes. From what I hear, the pesticides on the farm make feet and legs itch. They are calling it Roo Rash. 4 days, ya'll!

Never heard that phrase before. Looks like it could be a military thing.
Anyways...I did actually buy a pair of rainboots for this year. Never brought a pair to 'roo before, but I thought it might be worth it. Will pretty much be wearing my Keen's the whole time, unless it turns into a crazy deluge though. Might even bring my full length rain slicker. Or I might just say fuck it and get soaked and embrace it...you never know!
I think it's a Clarksville thing. I'm still surrounded by military all the time. I live two miles from Ft. Campbell Army base, Home of the 101st Airborne. It's an Army town. So in my case it could be a proximity thing. Fun fact: Jimmy Hendrix was stationed here and was artistically inspired by the area. There is a memorial to him on the base.

Hey, that Oddball Music store next to the base is owned by my family. Small world.

I was just in Clarksville visiting friends. It was hot, then it poured for 30 minutes, and then it was nice. A microcosm of what we can expect for Roo, I believe.

I'm just curious, since I wasn't on Inforoo last year - but do any of you recall if the Forecast this time last year was anywhere close to being accurate to the weather we actually got at Bonnaroo?

At this point we can be reasonably certain about the temps. The rain is totally unpredictable due to the difficultly in determining how much humidity there will be around. There is not expected to be a front moving through, but there will be the typical southern summer pattern: building high pressure and humidity equals pop-up thunderstorms in the afternoon and early evening. Tends to quiet down at night and then give you a sunny morning.
Temps are dropping. Also, a Nashville forecast isnt Manchester guys.
Temps dropping is good news for me. Its been far from hot so far this year in Minnesota so I'm not acclimated yet to anything in the 90s.
Also Phyre Fest, your avatar reminds me of a guy that re-did the siding on my parents house when I was a kid. He had The Rock's bull tattoo but positioned so the bulls nose was his pierced nipple. Sort of like this...
Thursday: Actually pretty nice Friday: Big storm in the evening time Saturday: Storms possibly starting late evening (lasting into late nights? ) Sunday: A mess, but also hard to predict this far out
This says that Friday noon to midnight is a time when rotation, and thus some upward vertical motion, is encouraged. That's bad because we'll have moisture all around, so even more storms.
Silver lining! There isn't much upper air support for storms. In regions to the immediate left of "blobs" (jetstreaks), vertical motion is strongly encouraged, and we don't really see that in this case. We also may have a relatively stable atmosphere, but not sure on that yet.
Also, Claytonator I'm working on a detailed response to your questions about weather prediction. It depends on your math & physics experience, so shoot me a PM or we can discuss here.
