What??? Are you saying AF isn't MM headliner material?
I am. MM goes for bands that really fit the picture of Georgia. Tom Petty and Outkast are perfect for this. Arcade Fire most likely will not be there. Hopefully The Kooks and Paolo Nutini or kasabian are there. Need my British fill.
Whcih is why they aren't gonna be there. Even if they didn't book Atlanta they still wouldn't be there.
You do realize that Live Nation produces this festival and they were the promoter for the entire Arcade Fire tour in North America right?
Not all festivals are booked the same. The genre and location has a lot to do with booking. And while the genre is close enough, the location is completely wrong. After Coldplay, Music Midtown likes to book at least one "dad rock" band. It has nothing to do with tier popularity or talent, it's about who fits and who doesn't. That's why everyone is saying Outkast because they are the perfect MM headliner. Also, we already have our two headliners. And Jack white as a back up. Maybe the cure depending what day they play Riot.

I don't think AF will be at midtown but they're a possibility.
FF plays Atlanta earlier the year they headlined.
AF fits GA just fine. You probably just don't like them.
I love their first album, but AF would be risky and I don't think MM wants anymore risks after journey. As well as their lack of funds which is why they closed down for so long

How is booking Arcade Fire risky? They just played Atlanta and sold a ton of tickets, plus they're a well-established, acclaimed festival headliner. It's the complete opposite of risky

Aaron's Ampitheater holds 19,000 and they didn't sell out. MM needs 52,000 to sell out. Also Coachella is a lot more different than Music Midtown with the people who go there.
Tranter is right in some respect. Arcade Fire is definitely Atlanta material. They have fans all over the US, but they are NOT Music Midtown material. I've been there the past three years so I know. They usually choose a classic rock group for Friday night (Petty and White fit the bill) then a more relevant group to please the younger crowd for Saturday night (OutKast fits the bill). Arcade Fire is a great band, I love them but they're not the feel of this festival.

MrF is right as well, but classic rock isn't the right word. Very close though. Not sure what word to use.
Just so you know, all 20 of your posts have been false and way off base.
Except they haven't lol. They all fit the same basis:
Tom Petty-OutKast will headline with Jack White as a safety net if the "four nights" theory is wrong (which I will be shocked if it isn't) Arcade Fire would be a mistake (only if they headline; another spot, which won't happen, would be fine) Music Midtown follows somewhat of a theme to their headliners.

ALSO, Headlining festivals regularly does not mean you headline every festival you are at. There are so many variables. I think Arctic Monkeys were an example last year, as well as Kasabian. Kasabian is headlining Glastonbury OVER Jack White. If that can happen, I think Arcade Fire can take a backseat to Tom Petty. IF that happened.
EDIT: I think Arcade Fire would like to end their tour in Canada as well. Something to consider.

Yes, you are 100% right. Neither Arctic Monkeys nor Kasabian have the same appeal in the US than they do in the UK.
Except, we're talking about Arcade Fire, who does NOT fall into this same category. Arcade Fire are 100% headliners at any festival they play, including Glastonbury and Coachella.
This is dumb. Arcade Fire aren't going to be at Midtown but it's only because they played ATL just last month. If they were playing they would definitely headline.

Actually, they aren't headlining pinkpop. Coincidentally, they're behind Arctic Monkeys.
Arcade Fire is more relevant than Tom petty in 2014, as they should be
Same could've been said about QOTSA and RHCP last year. But I think Tom Petty would bring a lot more people. Nearly everyone loves a good bit of Petty, but a lot of people dislike Arcade Fire. Especially since it's a southern festival. Which has to have a bit of importance.

No.
Kids don't give a fuck about Tom Petty.
MM really isn't heavily populated the youth as other festivals are. I also don't think Petty would play at a festival he isn't headlining unless he was behind someone super crazy famous.
