1) More bottled water because egg water is just too much. 2) More clear liquor because it's easiest for sneaking into Centeroo. 3) Not be so shy and get to know my neighbors. 4) No drunken showers. (This led to unknowingly showering while standing in someone else's shit (thank god I had sandals on)). 5) Air mattress. I'm getting too old to sleep on the ground.

a cot is way better than an air mattress IMO (I've done both)- being off the ground is key but there is much less sweating involved with a cot.
In 2015, I'll wonder off alone more. I tried to stay with my group for buddy system reasons, and I missed out on a lot of things that I wanted to do.
Smaller tent and a better EZ Up, for sure. We were in groop, so I had plenty of room, but it was just bug and redic. Also, MOAR TARPS!
I brought way too much "just in case" gear and supplies. I hardly used any of it. It was my first year, and I read the board diligently, but I thought, "I'm a wuss and these guys are pros!" So I over prepared.
I will buy more of those wide-legged hippie pants. I bought one pair from a vendor last year and I want to wear them every freakin' day.
Buddha Pants? Extremely overpriced and extremely comfortable! I got two pair and I love them but I found a bunch of pants in the same style on Amazon for about 1/4 of the price after I got back home.

Genius. I hadn't even thought of a cot. A cot is probably cheaper than an air mattress anyway.
I'm sorry, what? Meetin' your neighbors is one of my favorite parts of 'Roo! I've kept up with several of my neighbors from years past!
Dude, I know. But I'm painfully shy when it comes to meeting new people. My Roo partner is quite shy too, so it's hard for us to expand and step outside our bubbles. We tend to do a lot of people watching and just keeping to ourselves, haha. I just need to start drinking as soon as I wake up so that I'm more outgoing by 10 or 11 am, haha.

That's what I did this year. I woke up between 6 and 8 each day and started off with a drink or two and it's enough to get you to loosen up but not be dead by the end of the day. Next year I'll force people to talk to me by bribing them with free bacon and coffee!

Brilliant! I wanted to bring bacon this year to make, but my Roo partner didn't dig the idea. I'm totally doing it next year. We did make coffee every morning though and then used Rumchata as a creamer. Perhaps one of our better ideas! It's hard to drink that early...my body just doesn't dig it. I need to start morning drinking a couple months before Roo to prepare myself, haha. I'm half-tempted to bring stuff to make a Bloody Mary every morning because they're much easier to stomach that early than beer or vodka/Coke, etc.

if you aren't having bacon and bloody marys in the morning, you are doing it wrong. that is the standard breakfast for my crew, and probably why we ended up with 10lbs of bacon and 6 handles of vodka for 7 of us this year. By sunday morning we were handing out bacon to people like it was halloween candy.

Hahaha I cooked bacon every morning behind my car near the walking aisle and handed it out to people walking by. Bacon is a great conversation starter. That was a lot of fun. Also, cots are the way to go. I've slept on a cot under my ez up for the past three years and have always slept well!

This was also my third year with a cot under an EZ up. I still bring a tent to change in but I slept and napped on the cot and I agree, its the way to go.

I'm totally stealing the bacon-to-your-neighbors idea. What a brilliant conversation starter, especially for those of us who are usually a little more shy and reserved, haha.

Be more assertive about not letting those shitty, judgmental, faux-punk, Iowa City hipster chicks be around me and sully the smiles. This is my place to feel perfectly comfortable with how blissfully out-of-control and awesome everything/everyone is. Let me start a dance circle in two seconds at Omar Souleyman if I wanna.
Stop projecting your inadequacies, imagined superiority, supposed enlightenment of self-control and get off my shit, ya losers.

Not the Buddha pants. They're more like palazzos! I bought a few different pairs from Amazon myself, and have failed to recreate the magic. The ones I've gotten on Amazon were too long and the wrong material.

Hopefully I'll get there on Wednesday this year, as I had a funeral to attend last year. Lets not do that again.
I'm getting an rv trailer. No more camping in the rough. I love you guys, but I'm older, I have more money, I don't need to stay in a tent where I can't sleep past 7am when the sun comes up. I need dark, quiet, and ac.
I'm not packing the food I have in years past. Normally I have brought enough to food to feed an army, but now I'm just going to eat inside centroo for two meals out of my day, its just easier.

we took my dad's RV this year and hope to use it every year now. it was amazing- even though the generator went out, it was so much more comfortable being in a bed and with all the windows cracked it wasn't bad. he recently upgraded to one with a California King bed, so I'm looking forward to that.

Thats a massive bed for an RV. I have one at my house, but in my camper I'll be happy with a full or queen.
I'm bringing my dads gen, but we'll only use it while we are sleeping hopefully. I'm still going to cook and shower outdoors I believe. I've been eyeballing a few trailers.
Definitely figure out a way to stay cooler during the early morning hours- mama needs her sleep! Also, while I love the friend I went with it didn't work out too well. She wasn't about drinking, substances, or staying up past 11pm..which is fine, but she wasn't about letting me do that stuff either! Due to this I felt like I truly missed a lot of the experience at Roo. IF I can make it next year I would make sure we're on the same page with activities. And if not-we're splitting up! ;P Also, I'm considering a catheter so that I can stay hydrated AND camp out for the good stuff.
I'm going to fly in next year, spend at least a night in Nashville before heading into Bonnaroo. Not sure I could handle driving from California again.

I'm totally going to talk to as many people as possible. I did the loner thing in 2012. Fucking putting myself out there for 2015. BRING IT ON MOTHERLOVERS!!!
I thought this was a helpful thread last year (thanks, runninglouisville), so am reviving it.
What I will do differently next year: 1. Stop staying up so late and drinking; it is hard to sleep in with the heat/sun. I was deliriously tired and am too old for that crap...when am I gonna learn... 2. Talk to even more people. I was a loner in past years, but talked to more "strangers" this year and had a lot more fun. Will do even more of that next year and will, for the first time ever, attend Inforoo events. 3. Start working on friends NOW to save and go. Why are all my friends so broke and/or averse to dirt? 4. I've said this before, but I need to consider saving for RV and VIP so my husband will go. GA tents are not his scene (we are a mismatch made in heaven, lol), so I always miss him.
Did rv for the first time and I'm never looking looking back.
I will make sure my group listens to more bands ahead of time. There was a couple shows I brought them to and they wanted to leave after 10 minutes. I still stayed and had a blast but I wish they had more fun.
I finally found out how to properly pace myself so I'll do that again. Didn't black out / pass out at all which happened too much in the past.
