What happens if my tee shot lands on a bird's back and he carries it out of bounds but then is attacked by a larger bird who grabs the ball and drops it in the hole? Is that still a hole in one? 'Cause that's how I'm gonna play it.

This is a daunting task and so I will try and nail down a top 5 from each of the years I have been (which in itself will be hard). All of these would be listed in no specific order...
2009: NIN, David Byrne, Delta Spirit, Phish, Mars Volta
2010: Jay Z, LCD Soundsystem, Mayer Hawthorne & the County, Stevie Wonder, John Fogerty
2011: Explosions in the Sky, Buffalo Springfield, Arcade Fire, MMJ, Dr.John/Auerbach Superjam
2012: Radiohead, The Roots, Charles Bradley, Alabama Shakes, Sharon Jones
2013: Paul McCartney, Jim James Superjam, Jim James solo, Purity Ring, Holy Ghost
2014: Darkside, Derek Trucks Superjam, White Denim, Elton John, St.Paul and the Broken Bones

Top 50 is a ridiculous list. Are #s 35-50 really in order?
I have a top 20 though:
1) Girl Talk 09 - The most fun dance party ever. Girl Talk gets a lot of hate, but this was his peak and my brother and I danced our asses off.
2) Jay-Z 10 - The best time I've ever had at a headliner. Even more fun than McCartney for me.
3) Deadmau5 10 - This and Jay-Z go together for me. Best night of my life?
4) Tool 07 - My first Bonnaroo, my first headliner, I was right behind the pit. I was 17. This set opened up a new world to me.
5) Primus 11 - First time seeing Primus though they'd been on my list a long time. Les Claypool took no prisoners. Band was insanely tight, like Phish levels of mind reading.
6) Bassnectar 10 - I didn't even want to be here. I was getting front row for LCD Soundsystem and had hardly heard of Bassnectar. Funny enough, being in the front row, next to the speakers is the right way to experience a Bassnectar show. This show is a blur of happiness, lights and people. A+
7) LCD Soundsystem 10 - I love LCD, but they couldn't compete with the mind fuck I had just received. Still a fantastic show. So glad I saw them on top.
8) White Stripes 07 - So, I had a love/hate relationship with this show. I waited all day at Which on Sunday to be close, still was 20 rows back. And, I got kicked in the head and my glasses knocked off because there were SO MANY crowd surfers. That sucked. BUT, Jack tore this shit up. The bootleg is available and it's magic. My favorite Stripes song at the time was Death Letter and he did an 8 minute version that is on youtube. Mind-blowing in spite of conditions.
9) Jack Johnson 08 - Don't judge! There were certainly better shows in 2008. But this set was so chill and wonderful. 60,000 people just having a blast at the What Stage. The crowd atmosphere was amazing.
10) Nine Inch Nails 09 - (shit this should be higher) At the time, Trent said it was the last show. It wasn't, but it would've been a hell of a way to go out. Over half of the Downward Spiral played! Plus rarities and covers! One of the best late night single shows I've ever experienced.
11/12) Flying Lotus and D'Angelo Superjam 12 - These shows were both spectacular. If you were there, you know. These Friday/Saturday shows defined my Bonnaroo 12.
13) Paul McCartney 13 - Is it blasphemy to put a man I've listened to since I was 5 this low? Maybe. But I loved his set! I just felt the energy dissipated a little after Live and Let Die/Hey Jude. I love every song he played after that (of course), but it peaked early for me. Still greatness, obviously.
14) Skrillex Superjam 14 - This year had a ton of good shows, but I'm still marinating on them. I missed the majority of last year's Jim James Superjam, so this was my chance to make up for it. Skrillex absolutely delivered. Janelle Monae/Robby Kreiger/Asap Ferg/Lauryn Hill/Mickey Hart/Mystikal?!/ and about 100 more people will never share a stage again. Once in a lifetime. (But honestly, if it had just been the 15 minute Janelle Monae set it probably would've made the list. She blew my mind.
15) Damon Albarn 14 - This will probably move up the list, but I'm still processing. I went in with modest expectation and was blown away. Everyone is talking about Feel Good Inc/Clint Eastwood, but that Broken with the choir and brass section sealed it for me. Also, Damon is just awesome and seemed so happy to be there.
16) David Byrne & St. Vincent 13 - This ended my 2013 Bonnaroo and it was fantastic. My wife and I danced to This Must Be The Place at our wedding just months later, so seeing that song with her was worth the price of a ticket alone. Plus the brass arrangements were awesome and I gained new respect for St. Vincent.
17) Flaming Lips 07 - This was my first true late night Bonnaroo experience. And they had a freaking space ship and hamster ball and SO many lasers. If I wasn't dead on my feet at the time, this would be much higher up. Still, everybody needs to see the flaming lips live at least once.
18) Sigur Ros 08 - Outside circumstances keep this one from the top. But I was super happy and this show was phenomenal. Only 20% of the crowd was standing before the show, and everybody chanted "Please sit down" but people were too stubborn or had no room. Can you imagine an entire late night show at Roo with everyone sitting? But, I was super happy/agreeable at the time and my friends wanted to go get a good spot for Kanye's Glow in the dark show. So I missed the last few songs and we all know how that night ended. Still, I'm glad I experienced nearly all of it.
19) Les Claypool 08 - Shit, I almost forgot this one. First time seeing Claypool, huge crowd on the Which. He was very talkative, told great stories and played the shit out of his bass. It was a little less mind-blowing than Primus 11, but a wonderfully intimate show despite a large crowd.
20) Pelican/Bad Brains/Flogging Molly/Puscifer 2012 - So this might be cheating, but I spent about 8 hours at That Tent on Saturday 2012 and had one of the greatest days of my life. Pelican was SO loud, then the crowds were Bad Brains and Flogging Molly were insane, and we were third row next to a 2.5 hour mosh pit. Still, we stuck it out to be close to Maynard. Exhausted during Puscifer but they were still great. The best day of rock music I've ever had at Bonnaroo.
Honorable mentions: Mute Math, Ween & The Roots 07 Battles, Chris Rock, the time I spent at MMJ/Superjam 08 Beastie Boys/David Byrne split, Phish night 1, The Mars Volta 09 Jeff Beck! (Probably #21), Dave Rawlings Machine, Dan Deacon 10 Arcade Fire, Big Boi, Matt & Kim 11 Big Gigantic, Radiohead, Avett Brothers, Beach Boys 12 Animal Collective, Rap Superjam, Action Bronson, Wilco 13 Die Antwoord, Janelle Monae, James Blake, Kanye West, Chromeo 14
Pick your 50 shows then divide and conquer. Split the list into top half & bottom half. Then do that again and again until your ranking falls out.
Eh, that's a lot of work. Plus my top 25-ish were on another level from the next 25.
Also, I accidentally listed 30 honorable mentions, so I got 50 anyway!
I will say that after about 20ish they all kinda run together, not really ranking but just listing them at that point. I should have mentioned that my top 9 were on a whole different level of mind-blowing awesomeness, those ones really stood out as the most memorable, euphoric, astonishing, etc.

Im the same way. Actually looking at my list, the first real drop in mind-blowingness is at McCartney. We've seen greatness.

I could list a lot more, as 90% of all the shows I've seen at Bonnaroo have been pretty great. But these are the top 5 that were on the next level for me.
