So I just figured out that if I can see 65 bands before seeing Slayer at roo, Slayer will be my 666th show. How crazy is that? Now it's a challenge. I'm going to a couple of fests so I may actually be able to make this happen.

I decided I'd give Slayer a listen, in an attempt to further jam up my plans for LN on the farm this summer. Holy fuck. I am so fucking sold on Slayer now, that I may have to bypass most of the superjam to catch the end of it (assuming thats how the chips fall)
Holy fuck.
I'm 27 and I just discovered Slayer, and its incredible.

so far reign in blood and seasons in the abyss. Where do I go from here?

Agree with South of Heaven (the titular track is unbelievable live), then I'd go on to God Hates Us All, which I sometimes think is my favorite Slayer album (but really Reign in Blood is because it has to be). But still, definitely my second favorite Slayer album.

I got my first tattoo to South of Heaven. I remember watching my friend get his tattoo and then it was finally my turn to sit down in the chair and while the artist was getting everything ready he asked what I would like to listen to. I said, "I heard some Slayer earlier, think you could put that on?". Started South of Heaven from the beginning and when that started in my head I was like LETS DO THIS. Moral of the story, if you're thinking about getting a tattoo, Slayer is a damn good band to listen to when you're getting needles shoved into your skin.
I mentioned this earlier, I realized in tracking the number of bands I have seen live that I could make Slayer # 666 at roo. Well it looks like there's a problem. I'm going to Shaky Knees before roo and then all the bands I would see at roo before Slayer plays. If Slayer were Fri. night this would definitely happen. As of right now I'm going to be over by 5 or 6. Should I skip out on some shows to make this happen? I am seriously considering it.

There is probably some other band you've seen at sometime you don't rember anyway. I'm sure the mark of the beast will be strong with you regardless.

I agree. Respect your dedication sang but I wouldn't skip any music to make it happen.

Yea there's probably a few. There's also some I could probably take off for being there but not really paying attention or leaving early.

You are new here, but I already like you. Meet you on the rail for Slayer.
edit-about an hour before the show should do it, right?

Not sure! I have a feeling lots of people might be leaving Mumford once they realize they suck. The chance to see Slayer and D'Angelo from the rail could be one of the best nights ever and I don't want to quack it up

Ok. Two hours.
Watch them play something really shitty form the PA while we wait. Like Celine Dion's greatest hits.

Yeah the idea's cool and all, but not enough to miss out on live music!
Ive been starting my real listening to slayers catalogue after only knowing a handful of songs and i picked up cheap copies of reign in blood and south of heaven and I like south of heaven so much more. I really enjoy the slower(if you can call it slow) tempo of the songs. I think it lets each member play more to their strengths. Tom can sing more instead of just barking out lyrics as fast as he can. The riffs are bigger and heavier and more memorable (Im more of a stoner, sludge, etc etc, metal fan so I like that over the super fast thrash riffs) and Dave Lombardo doesn't have to just pound his drums as fast as he can so he can play cooler fills and parts. I think I'm going to dive into seasons in he abyss next because it'll be more in line with what i like about slayer
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round
