Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
You and my boyfriend both. I think only Slayer (or maybe Motorhead) would get him to go back to Bonnaroo.
I hope he at least enjoyed himself this year. I wanted to ask at brunch what he thought about Roo but I didn't get to.
I think there were parts he enjoyed. His music tastes are far from the EDM/indie rock scene so he was bored with a lot of the acts. He knew that going in to it, though. He told me when we were leaving he would only come back if they had Slayer or Motorhead.
That combo was one of the reasons I was more than satisfied that the kid chose Rock On The Range. Then Motorhead cancelled. And was replaced with Lacuna Coil. :/

Not much else to add other then yes. Before you see the light, you must die.
I'm concerned about the possibility of any future metal LNs though. Just look at the crowd size for Mastodon > Deafheaven > Meshuggah, they were tiny. Don't get me wrong, this made me extremely happy, just saying that while Bonnaroo metal fans are passionate, there aren't a lot of us.
But Slayer is a much bigger name than Mastodon. I'm having difficulty figuring out where Bonnaroo would book them. My heart says LN Which but my brain says an overpacked pre-HL That Tent.

I wanted to go to the metal tent this year, but conflicts got in the way. I'm afraid you're right on Slayer, they'd have to be billed really high not to get screwed into tent slots like Neutral Milk Hotel or Frank Ocean this year. Would a tent slayer show be dangerous? I guess it depends on how many people they bring. Would be a crazy time though.

I'm concerned about the future of LNs for anything that's not EDM/Electronic, to be honest. The crowd at Nick Cave when he started was only about 200 people or so. More people filed in as Jack White's set ended but still... we walked by the tent where the Skrillex Superjam was going to be 30 minutes before it started and it was overflowing. Ridiculous amount of people.
I even put on my Bonnaroo survey this year: "please continue to have more late night options that are not EDM."

Nick Cave just had terrible competition. I would have loved to be at his show, but he's a work horse. I'm confident he'll be back around. They put too many tantalizing names on that Skrillex show just a few weeks before the event itself. And it was EDM with almost entirely live instruments, so it wasn't mindless. But if you were a dance fan, or a rap fan, or a unique show fan then it was hard to pass up. Shitty conflict. I wish I could have been at all four stages at the same time.

I have seen Slayer at least 10 times over the years. Don't really care to see them with only 2 original members left but hope you all get what you want.

I have also seen them several times over the years, and I would have to agree that I'm not interested in seeing half the band. I would rather see Iron Maiden or Megadeth. Although, I would probably check Slayer out at Roo.

"We need to get Slayer here"---SF employee. I believe it is something they are working on. If all goes well, next year JHo will have her mind blown at the farm.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

I can promise that if they happen, I will be there.
It's just hard to think of how they'd make Slayer work.....it'd be a cool thing if they could pull it off. But late night Which? Hmmmmm maybe pre headliner on Which....late night tent? Could that get dangerous? I'd imagine Slayer be stacked up against some big names if they played a late night tent set so then only the hardcore slayer fans would be there.

Always wanted to see Slayer so I'm definitely game for this. I loved the LN Metal Tent this year but I too worry about its sustainability based on the crowd sizes. I'm proud that Roo consistently books some metal each year (I'd love another handful of bands personally), so I really hope they continue to distinguish themselves among big American festivals in that regard.
