I'm going crazy. This house/hard style add, hint, whatever has me going batshit. I even went on reddit. I hate reddit and hate even trying to use it. I just want the lineup and to know that there will be another indie band/hip-hop act. I know I'm being ridiculous and its annoying but dammit, they screwed the pooch this year with the lineup announcement screwup and my girl having a shitty street team leader. Pout pout /rant

Yeah, the reason I chose to spend my money on shaky knees instead of buku is because of Buku's lack of indie this year. They really dropped the ball in that aspect this year. If the adds really are a bunch of house/hard style, then I'm very happy I went elsewhere with my money and time. Thanks for keeping us as in the loop as possible vieux!
I think that's it. They said stages and final artist additions, that's both. I'm glad I didn't pay for vip this year. There's definitely some additions I was hoping for, but I wanted more.
1000x this. I'm glad I didn't get vip this year. I was hoping for a little more. I still don't see who the Royal/crown buklue though... Maybe I'm just not in the know to figure it out.
Great additions are: in the valley below, Zella day, windows 98 and badbadnotgood w/ ghostfaced killah.
Edit: so after looking over this and comparing to last year, I'm even more disappointed. The amount of artist and indie rock is seriously lacking compared to last year. There are about 10 less artists total, and the lineup only has a few big mid-card acts. Annoying. I know it's a weak fest year but I really expected more. And they moved Freedia up on the lineup from last year. She's on the main stage this year.
the most exciting/unexpected addition is the badbadnotgood/ghostface. that show should really be cool and one of the best live rap acts of the weekend. and the float den lineup looks to be the best one yet. itll be going off all weekend. hudmo has also been long overdue for a buku appearance glad to see him on it
Too bad I don't like anyone in the float den but die antwoord. makes it lacking for me on that front. Plus, that's the worst stage to actually see anything on. But I guess most aren't actually watching anything on that stage. Just dancing asses off.
I bought super presale for super cheap. Going to have a blast regardless. Plus, I get to wear my zebra onesie and giraffe onesie.

exactly right, and the dancey acts in there are top notch this year. check out mr carmack if you get a chance, it looks like hell be in the awful 3-4 pm slot there so hopefully no conflicts. and the ballroom lineup is solid as ever, that stage tends to be where i end up spending most of my time. just waiting on the schedule now, it could make or break the fest as always

I find I tend to be in the ballroom mostly as well. Hopefully with the fact that there's only about 10 artists I want to see, I'm hoping conflicts are too bad.
Nothing new in the adds does much for me or would make me buy a ticket if I didn't already have one. Obviously RL Grime should be great. I trust Jim, so I'll check out Lil B a little further beyond the Kevin Durant feud (**** KD). I am pretty interested in Badbadnotgood with Ghostface, as rap with live instrumentation is preferable for me. Hudson Mohawke does that Chimes song (sort of trappy) from the Apple commercial. Win Butler might be cool. Someone noted on Facebook when they were hinting clues that it was the best most random DJ set they had ever seen. Not sure about that individual's credibility, but I don't hate Win so I'll probably try to check some of that set out. Sweet Crude is a local Indie band that plays some stuff in English and some in Cajun. I've heard them, but I haven't seen them live. I'll have to research most of the rest. You had to figure they would be adding primarily DJ's since they had to fill out the Back Alley stage. There will probably be a couple of more DJ's added for the VIP Riverboat sets unless some people do multiple sets. It's whatever.
As for the stages, Power Plant clearly has the biggest sets. VIP gets from the riverboat view, and I'll probably see most of those shows with the exception of Passion Pit and Robert Delong (though I could catch a minute or two of either and be fine). I'd pay $100 to see STS9, Bassnectar and Portugal, so all I will have to accomplish is to drink $100 worth of booze per day to get my money back. That shouldn't be a problem.
Float Den will have the usual EDM and trap. Ballroom has most of the hip hop again, but I wonder if it's big enough to fit in Portugal? It's obvious that they wanted to bring bigger names to the Back Alley which was an addition I liked last year, so the level of DJ/act (Thomas Jack, Bob Moses, Eats Everything & Jamie Jones) is a little bigger than last time.
Eh, C+ on the lineup mostly because Tribe is on it and because I get to see them twice that weekend. Any weekend with 2 STS9 sets will not suck. And there is enough else. But I'm not really satisfied overall as is the case with everything else but Waka and Jazzfest so far this year. It will be an A/A+ time regardlessly.
I like the C+ grade for this. You forgot TvOTR though. I guess when you lay it out that I got presale for $160 w/tax and am getting two days of music with 10 bands I want to see, one being in my top 5 favorites, it is a deal. I not a big drinker and never drink at fests, so the VIP wouldn't be worth it for me.
One side note, as much as I love TvOTR and those 10 bands I'd like to see but if I hadn't bought tickets already, I personally wouldn't buy tickets. I've seen most of these artist before and the lineup overall doesn't wow me. I would be spending on another festival that I liked better. But I live in Nola, Buku has never done me wrong before, and as alqays, it'll be a great weekend.

Yeah, I agree with you on pretty much everything there. I'm going to have a ball, and it's not like this lineup is Gretna Fest or something like that. There are curiosities. I'm up to about 60 acts I want to see at Waka, 25-30 for Bonnarroo, a few for Jazzfest both days I'm going and about 20 at Hangout. Let me count Buku right quick. I got +/-20 (Bassnectar, Rocky, TVotR, STS9, Raury, Big Freedia, Die Antwoord, Porter Live, Flosstradamus, RL Grime, Odesza, Mr. Carmack, Portugal, Boosie, Run the Jewels, Gramatik, Ghostface Killah with badbadnotgood, DJ Windows 98, Bob Moses).
It's whatever. I personally loved the lineup last year, and it was more geared toward my tastes. I'm okay with 2015, just not blown away by it.
I fired them off an email which wasn't hate mail, but it was definitely something I wanted them to consider.
I have to say that I’m not super excited. Ghostface Killah with badbadnotgood and RL Grime adds should be great. And there is other cool stuff in the announcement (Win Butler). But the Project this year is almost “young for young sake” and really sacrifices the jamtronica/livetronica/indie/progressive-instrumental genres altogether except for Tribe and in some respects, TV on the Radio. Seriously, there’s a lot of pop. Even the newer stuff like Raury (which will probably be cool) doesn’t have much of an edge. I love Portugal. The Man who are probably in my Top 5 Buku upcoming sets, but you expect that at Hangout and other festivals with more accessible and less eclectic lineups. Obviously you can’t please all of the people all of the time, but there are a lot of us who would have liked to see Break Science live band or similar type acts round out the lineup. Beats Antique, Explosions in the Sky and Lotus were all examples of sets last year that sort of set Buku apart from just another EDM/hiphop fest with a token pop or rock act or two. I’m still going, and I’m going to have a blast. But hopefully in future lineups, you don’t forget those of us who enthusiastically throw down the VIP cash hoping for something to challenge us as fans and listeners.
Yeah, I am. We already knew about RL, Win, Ghostface and Claude which were all buklues over the last few weeks. I was wanting something exciting from a band/musician aspect that had a bit of an edge and would have made the lineup better for me. I'm not hating on the rap or electronica. But Buku usually has some solid band acts (Primus, Flaming Lips, Lotus, Explosions, Alt-J, Beats Antique, etc.) and just kind of went pop with it this year (Empire of the Sun, Passion Pit, Portugal. The Man., etc. with the exception of Tribe and TV on the Radio. I'm being greedy.

Sort of, don't you think? I'm not saying they're wimp pop or even like Empire or Passion Pit. But many of their songs are pretty radio friendly, and if you saw them at Hangout last year (which was very good btw), everyone knows almost all the words to almost all the songs which can seem formulaic. So pop in the way that a lot of newer, independent bands are. To me anyway. What would you consider them?
It's really geared towards a younger audience this year and IMO doesn't have a strong indie card lineup like previous years. We knew about 90% of what was dropped today already and I was informed that we could expect a larger than Nas headliner to be added. It didn't happen, I'm disappointed.
I've been doing a little research since the final release yesterday of acts I didn't know or know well. Badbadnotgood is pretty talented . Their own stuff includes a lot of downbeat jazzier elements. They apparently collaborate frequently with rappers and will be the backup band for Ghostface Killah. Good got better there.
Hudson Mohawke sounds good for a midcard dj, and I like The Range which is likely going to be an early set. Also Slander is pretty cool trap dj, nothing great, but pass-by-able for a couple minutes.
I still gotta listen to more Lil B and xxyyxx to form opinions along with some of the other adds. Also, the English/French flag klue was clearly Sweet Crude since they are American but sing in English and French.
This lineup is stellar. For the price, I'd say this is a tie with Shaky Knees for best fest of the season. Also probably the best group of additions anybody could hope for from this sort of festival.
As expected, STS9 is playing Friday on the power plant stage and Saturday at The Joy. From their website, Laissez les bons temps rouler! See you all back in New Orleans for TWO appearances at this year’s Buku Music & Art Project including a festival set on Friday March 13th, and then a special Buku Late show at the Joy Theater on Saturday March 14th.
I would have to say that Shaky Knees wipes it's ass with this lineup, after eating food from the immediate vicinity of where Shaky Knees fest is located for three days.
They're literally complete opposites though.
If you're on the ropes, it's a great excuse to go party in NOLA, and the venue is very cool. I'll most likely be going back there for Fiyafest this year.
