He keeps changing his username so I love the idea of sticking him with his original one (even if it was an accident). I declare that from this day forth, he will forever be known as reesespieces. Phi is dead
Empire of the Sun kicked ass at Roo latenight last year. Listening to them on my own time they don't really do it for me but I would def go see them again.
Die Antwoord kicked major ass both times I've seen them in nola.
I am the happiest NOLA girl around!! Run the Jewels, Portugal. the man, STS9. Tove Lo, Die Antwoord, Robert Delong, TVOTR, Empires of the Sun... I am there. BTW, Passion Pit again? UGH. My only complaint.
So, this greatly exceeds what I expected. I mean fuck, just give me STS9 at every festival, and I'm great with that.
Bassnectar - No problem
A$AP Rocky - Haven't seen yet (only Ferg)
Passion Pit - People hate them, but when they play, they are fairly talented. I found myself actually not hating them the two times I've seen parts of their shows
Empire of the Sun - Have not seen
Die Antwoord - Only saw part of a set a couple years ago
TV on the Radio - Have not seen yet, but they should be good
STS9 - Top 1 show for me going in
Boosie Badazz - Not sure if that's Boosie or something else
Gramatik - Have not seen yet
Freedia - Always rules
Klutch - Pretty weak
Borgore - Douchy/Funny but cool with his beats and hard dub
Zomboy - Also like his harder styled dub/wub
Robert Delong - Seen a couple of times and watchable
Run the Jewels - Lots of people like them, I don't know them yet
I'll have to research most of the bottom stuff. But shit, nice job Buku overall.

I saw Passion Pit in 2013 at BUKU and I couldn't take it. I wasn't a huge fan, but they didn't bother me until I saw them. TV on the Radio rock out live. They are one of my top 10 favorite all time bands, I've seen them 4 times already. They are one of those bands, that are a great studio band, but 10x better live. I have been blown away every time I have seen them.
I think that BUKU did an amazing job thus far, and can't wait to see who they pull out for the second announcement. They always seem to have at least one big name in the second announcement.
Yeah, I only hit on someo of the things on the list. 2 of my kids like them a lot and dig on the new chillwave artists. I would see them. Also, says 'Initial lineup" so I'm wondering if they're still going to add more stuff?
TV On the Radio is so badass, Esteban. I've seen them at Voodoo '08 and '11 as well as Roo '09.
That is the only time I missed them, was at Voodoo '08. I saw them at the Republic when it was still the Howlin Wolf in '04 I think... That is when I totally and completely fell in love with them. So good.
Yeah, that's pretty exciting Sarge. Careen said the same thing. Seems they are keeping with the random band theme which means it's getting better. Jabco told me he liked last year's lineup better (and with Lotus, fuck, that would be hard to top for me). But my middle kid told me he thinks this is the best lineup yet. And he's a giant Explosions in the Sky fan and loves what Flaming Lips are doing these days. So that counts. Obviously a lot of research to separate the chaffe from the grain at the bottom of the list. Maybe some of that is bands or cool duos or something. Then Porter Live? I think someone told me he's doing some live set thing this year. So that might be cool (not sure if it's with a live band or if he's live sampling or what).

I didn't hear TVOTR till like '05 or '06, missed the boat on that. damn that must've been great!

I had a great friend that burned Young Liars EP for me, with that awesome Mr. Grieves cover and Staring at the Sun. I think they were touring for their Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes album and I want to say that show was like $20 with fees.
So it was pointed out that there are only 36 artist released on this initial lineup. Last year's initial lineup had 46. Buku has hit the 65 - 70 mark the past 2 years. Which means there at least 20 more regular adds and about 10 V.I.P. adds, maybe more. I think this might be the best year yet.
Well it kind of kicks Lights All Night in the box if that's your thing.
Justin Martin b2b Eats Everything and Bob Moses are the best acts on that lineup incase anyone was wondering.
I'll check both of them out in the coming weeks Phy. Thanks for the recommendations. But I'm going to have to go ahead and throw Sound Tribe Sector 9 as by far the best act on the list.

If I wasn't so far away I'd definitely be going. I've already committed to hangout though for my gulf coast trip. Great lineup considering the size of the festival. This one is more attractive to me than last year.

I wasn't going to buy tickets to be honest. Especially since I have been VIP and since I split with my ex last year, I can't afford VIP anymore. My best fest girl conned me into it by buying tickets and then texting me to tell me, knowing I am not going to let my girl hang. We were talking about upgrading but then decided against it. I am glad she tricked me into getting tickets, but am sad that I didn't do the VIP. They have the best amenities for VIP and it keeps you away from the kids. I guess living in NOLA it makes it hard not to buy presale to any of the festivals, with Jazz Fest being the exception.
I wish I was doing hangout, but Bonnaroo got my money this year.
