Not impressed by this lineup at all. Top half has a bunch of acts that toured extensively in 2013 and no new material as far as I'm aware (Passion Pit, A$AP Rocky, Empire of the Sun). I'd only want to see Porter Robinson, Run the Jewels, ODESZA, Jamie Jones, Justin Martin b2b Kill Frenzy, Bob Moses, TV on the Radio, Gramatik, Mr. Carmack, and Thomas Jack.

sorry i know nothing about buku really but it's just funny you name no new material from 3 people. then list 10 people you wanna see. what are you complaining about?

This opinion doesn't count because it doesn't mention Portugal. the Man or Die Antwoord

As far as the top lines go, it's incredibly weak to have 3 acts who toured everywhere two years and will likely be playing identical sets to those 2-year-old sets. I listed ten artists I'd like to see, but only a few are must-sees. Compared to last year, I think this is a step down.

The biggest shortcoming this year is the indie/psych rock aspects of the lineup. They have no one to compare to Primus or The FLips from '13 and '14 respectively. And last time they had Passion Pit was '13.That is the one problem I have with the lineup, it's a BIG problem, but it's my only one

I would probably see those two but they're not going to make me buy tickets to a festival.

I'm not THAT into Portugal, but I love die Antwoord and they're hard for me to catch cause I live in Florida. Really though, the biggest reason I am going is simply because it's buku. I may dislike a lot of the people that attend because of the EDM but I'll be surrounded by my crew the whole time and it's only a week after my birthday and maradi gras world is one favorite festival grounds. Standing at the back of the crowd at the Powerplant Stage and and dancing and watching Lettuce with my friends while the breeze is whipping off the Mississippi River... It's one of my favorite memories I have.

Yeah no hate from me either. There's a fuckload of shit I want to see across their 3 main genres but I'll see STS9 anywhere, and they are my Top 1 easy of the first wave of the lineup followed by Bassnectar and Portugal the man. Yeah I've seen them multiple times but I hope to see them all multiple more. And don't sleep on Boosie in Nola which has potential And then Gramatik, Run the Jewels, TV on the Radio, Porter live which I'm assuming will include keys and possibly brass or woodwinds and then another 30 or so acts to announce, I plan on having a ball. And oh yeah, STS9 is playing. Shit is gonna be a blast as it was the last 2 years.

Yeah, my top five bands I'm looking forward to from the initial lineup are Bassnectar (I'll finally get to cross him off), Die Antwoord, Empire of the Sun, ODESZA, and Run the Jewels. I'm also really excited about TV on the Radio, Bob Moses, and STS9, it'll be my 4 time seeing em. The one thing I'm hoping for with the secondary lineup announcement is that they'll fill the alt rock void that I brought up already. Hopefully they're just holding off on a band or two because the group(s) haven't released their dates yet (I'm praying for Modest Mouse because it's the week after the album drops, but I know I won't happen)

This is only the initial lineup. Last year they announced Nas in the second round of announcements. We still have another 20 more acts to announce.
Had to come out to see Grandtheft late so work will suck tomorrow. But the buku street team individual said the rest of the lineup will blow my mind and that they saved the best shit. I'm not buying that with STS9 announced, but I figured I'd report that shit.

My girl is a street crew. Hopefully I can get some info from her.

Stop teasing me like this. Btw, do we know when the date is for the second lineup announcements?

No except January. I said I wasn't believing it because I already have a fuckload of shit to see that weekend. Tribe Bassnectar Portugal Porter Zomboy TV on the Radio Borgore rocky Gramatik. I mean that's solid any time. I'll take as much more as they want to give. Even some of the undercard that people have recommended that I checked out live on YouTube was cool or freaky. So it's already on.

Yeah, the only front that the lineup really slacks on is the alt/psych rock aspect that the last two years had. Just talking about top billed acts, '13 had Primus (and Passion pit as well) and '14 had Flaming Lips and this year has nothing to compare to those two acts. The only way I could see a big get being announced in the second round is if it were to make up for that void. As I'm writing this, I realize that Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger has a decent shot at being there and that would be amazing. Just gonna keep praying each night that Modest Mouse shows up to start supporting their new album.
Btw, i assume one of the "freaky" groups you checked out was Die Antwoord? If not, check em out asap
I saw some of two of their shows live. I scanned most of the undercard that good posters recommended . Bob Moses, eats everything b2b with justin martin, Jamie jones and Mr Carmack who my daughter loves.
I hear you on the alt side though. We will see what else they announce. I always need some band time.
I saw the pedigree and some lyrics in one of those endless Rolling Stones you get from buying concert tickets and caught myself having one of those automatic huge eye rolls.

Yeah, they're just mellow, weird psych rock. Nothing super special, but what excites me most is that IF they play buku, they would be an oddball act and would most likely play fairly early so all the EDM kids won't know who they are and will be busy waiting to get front row for borgore or something and I'd be able to easily get up close for their show
Longinus and I got right up front for Lettuce no problem at Buku a couple of years ago that way.
Exactly my thoughts!!!! It was the biggest fest I had been to at that time and I all I wanted to do was ensure we got there in time to get close for lettuce, but after a couple delays, I walked up to that set as it started and I was still able to easily make it most of the way through the crowd. And then japandroids was damn near empty and Earl was only like half full. The show I'm most hoping to be close for this year is die antwoord (it'd be terrifying/amazing)

I thought they were incredibly boring when I saw them open for Beck this year. But I really excited to see Beck for the first time and also the people next to me were all like HOLY SHIT I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT IS JOHN LENNON'S SON. But if there was nothing else going on at a festival or they opened for someone else I would probably give them another shot.

While I do like their music, I am not surprised by that because it is so relaxed

Yeah I don't know, I'm not bothered by relaxed music. They just don't stand out to me for any reason and I think some people give him a lot of credit just for being John Lennon's son (not saying that's what your doing). But like I said I could have been turned off by the people next to me or looking past them because they were opening for Beck.

You're all good. I didn't even know it was Sean Lennon for quite a while and then a friend of mine told me. And I wasn't assuming you had a problem with relaxed music, just saying that it often makes for boring shows (like Real Estate) and I would probably hate the show as well if that guy was next to me goin on about Sean being John's son the whole time. I'm seeing them at a local fest in February, so I'll be sure to let everyone know how it is.
Gramatik @ Buku Music And Arts Project in New Orleans, LA Fri, Mar 13, 2015, 7:00 PM New Orleans, LA
Got that from Gramatik.net. So if they aren't just reporting a generic time , he's got a badass Friday early slot, I'm guessing Float Den which means it probably conflicts with something big on power plant, maybe a rap act. Buku usually has conflicts. I wonder if we will get an Exmag set? I wouldn't hate on that.
