It's the longest of long shots, but Bob Dylan's got a Sinatra covers record coming out next month. Hearing him talk about Mavis in this new interview got me thinking would be amazing to get him back again. It wouldn't carry all the newsmaking baggage of the '02 appearance, which could be a good thing.

I just would rather not waste a headliner slot on someone that sounds as terrible as Dylan does now. I'd be fine if they did get him, but I think there are a large number of better options

Performing there again on the 50th Anniversary of him going electric would make it pretty newsworthy...
I stand corrected, didn't even think of that! I'm a big fan and enjoy his current performances, so personally I'd be excited. That said, it's a moot point as I highly doubt he'll be there. New Basement Tapes might be the closest we get.
And BkB.. welcome to Inforoo and our little NFF corner of it. Probably the safest thread in the whole place. Bunch of peace loving quacking hippies in here
Are you a local for NFF? Vet? Wannabe? Whatever... Its all good. Welcome!
My friend and I need to meet up with the Quackers! Last year, on the first day, we met a woman from N.C. there by herself and ended bumping into and hanging out with her throughout the fest. It's amazing with all the people attending that you can run into the same person. That's why I love it there. Even saw some Cleveland T-shirts on people.

Just be warned, once you go Quack, you never go back.

Here's my huge, totally implausible want for this year: Bill Withers. I know he's done with performing but he is being inducted to the Rock and Roll HOF in April. If he does play there would he consider a show at the best music fest in the land?
NOOOOOO. With the Forecastle lineup out, I'm certain you guys are going to get First Aid Kit and Tallest Man on Earth. The year I didn't get tickets. Why do these two bands at the top of my bucket list keep toying with me like this!?! Must find a ticket.

First Aid Kit are at FloydFest but they're one of the acts I'm hoping crossover with Newport. Tallest Man on Earth got me really excited for the possibility of him at the Fort.

The first thing I thought when I saw Forecastle was "Tallest Man on Earth is in the US in July". Of course being a NFF ticket-owner I was yelling YYYYEEESSSSSS instead of NOOOOOOOO.

Hey ya'll - new to NFF topic thread here! You all seem fantastic!
I've never done NFF but some of best friends from college have been trying to get me up there for it for years. I've just always had trouble committing without a lineup. This year they are renting a beach house for the week and making a trip off it so I may be heading to RH! Depending on finance I may just buy a Sunday ticket- how late do these usually sell out? If he lone bellow play what day do you think they would be billed for (I'm also hoping they are announced in the next announcement for roo)

Hope you can make it! There's really no method to what day each act is booked for but each artist announcement includes the day they're playing. Newport just announced yesterday that there are only 200 Sunday tickets left so they'll probably sell out soon (maybe after the first couple of announcements). But you can always look for second-hand tickets if you miss them. I'd love to see The Lone Bellow get added to the Roo lineup but they were there last year so I'm not too optimistic.

Here's a super basic question that I'm sure gets asked every year: Where do people like to stay? I've heard it can be a bit of a pain (or expensive). Any recs? Is camping nearby pretty easy, or do most people who don't live within driving distance do hotels?

The first two years we got a hotel 30-45 minutes out of town, but last year we found a few super cheap hotels that are in town, only about a 5-10 minute drive from downtown. They're suuuuper no-frills hotels, but they get the job done.

If you don't mind a little longer commute, in order to save vs. staying on Aquidneck (Newport/Middletown/Portsmouth) - look into Warwick over by the airport.
You'd probably have to head out earlier in the morning than many though, to avoid the beach traffic on Routes 1 and 4 though.
Courtney Barnett! Interesting choice and I'll be happy to see her at the Fort. More psych-rock than folk but their are some folk touches and she's great live
