I was at the fenway gig as well and the garden the year before an he's still got it. I seem to remember reading him talk about going to get vocal training to help his voice now that he's older
I am 100% shocked by this announcement and really, really excited. This should be a really unique special show.
I'm working on figuring how to make it for this show. Last few years I went "Eh....I could have skipped Friday if I needed to" and figured this year would be the same. Nope. Need to find a way to make this.

The OCMS tour route is as suspicious as the MMJ tour route.

I'm definitely going to put a hurting on a credit card & get one Thursday. I'll worry about whether or not I can actually make it later. Of course if I can't make it, y'all would have first dibs on my ticket for whatever ticket price I was able to get. And I will be sitting in front of my computer all desk Thursday & would be happy to help anyone who won't have access. Just let me know.

Luluc added today. I saw them open for Father John Misty in April, and they were nice. I thought they could be a good fit for NFF at the time.
I'm trying not to get my hopes up for FJM, because I don't think it's going to happen, but this gives me a tiny sliver of hope they got him as well.
Luluc are a good add though. If they're keeping the same numbers as last year, I think that fills up Saturday with 18 artists. Although they haven't announced the museum stage yet
FJM is in western Canada the Friday and Saturday of the festival then in Montreal on the 31st. So, Sunday is a possibility still. Keeping my fingers crossed.
So what are the chances MMJ backs Waters? They have no shows conflicting. Days off before to rehearse (maybe). Obviously this isn't gonna be a "normal" Roger Waters show with crazy lights and visuals. So what does a "special" low-key Roger Waters show look like?

I think it's within the realm of possibility and would be absolutely incredible. I'll be a little surprised if nothing happens between them, even if it's just Jim, but I'd still have no complaints if it's just Waters the whole show.
On the Father John Misty thing, my current prediction is that he's on the lineup for Boston Calling in September and is an unannounced artist for Newport on Sunday. But again, I'm trying not to get my hopes up.

As amazing as it would be I don't think they get MMJ to be his backing band. That'd just be too epic. Waters being on the lineup alone is gigantic news.

I honestly would be shocked if FJM got added in any capacity at this point. I thought for sure he'd be added to NFF and XPoNential but after his Canada dates were announced I pretty much threw all that out the window. I guess anything is possible but honestly he's a bigger name than First Aid Kit and they are advertised as the Sunday headliner.

So what? Just him and a guitar for a headlining set? I'd be down, but I don't see that happening. He's gonna have a band. It's his first (and only announced) show since 2013. Aaaand there's precedent with the Love for Levon show. Just sayin.

Yeah I wouldn't see them doing any MMJ songs. It's pure speculation at this point. It's an unprecedented type of show for Roger. I'm just really curious what to expect and Friday seems to be the only day MMJ would be available... thus the rampant speculation on my part.

Governors Ball like Jack White? He was held off as an announcement last year until after that. Though MMJ isn't headlining so that could be different.
