Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
What did you guy's think of Sun Kil Moon last year? I love the albums, but I really wasn't a fan of his set (which I kinda forgot about until abbo reminded me at Roo last weekend when Mark was dominating our station).
EDIT: I am asking in a more of a was it a bad set and I should give them another chance, or was it a great time and apparently they are not my thing?

Personally, I'm glad I caught it but I think the depressing nature of his songs can make it a tough set to handle if you're not in the mood. I don't think it was a bad set but it's the only time I've seen him live so I've got nothing to compare it to.

I can see that.. so perhaps I will give him a chance when he comes through this fall and maybe I'll be in the right place emotionally for him- it's all the way down in Fairfield though.

Honestly, his set really drew me in the the genre. I loved that set. Even though he wants the War On Drugs to suck his cock...like, really bad, too. I don't know if I could take 2 hours of Mark, but the one was plenty.

Looking at the website, I wouldn't be shocked if they still added a new second-billed artist for Friday. Tallest Man seems a good step below Sufjan and Hozier in terms of popularity. If they're trying to make Friday as big as the other two days, they could use a more marquee name to go under Roger.

I agree. I'd also like it because I'd like to see TMOE and roger waters and hope they don't conflict!
I've been listening to the NFF 2015 playlist on spotify. Really like some people more than I thought I would. Andy Shauf reminds me of a more upbeat Nick Drake. Love Angel Olsen and Spirit Family Reunion. Some really wonderful music on that playlist!
If you go by popularity, iron and wine is more popular than both Sufjan and Hozier buy leaps and bounds...
As it stands right now, Friday has the biggest headliner. Decemberists don't come close and we don't know what's happening Sunday
Judging by Hozier's bonnaroo crowd I don't know how true that is... but of course this is Newport and nobody bought their ticket to see Hozier.
And yeah I feel like there's a chance of one more bigger add on Friday. The two appearances I'm expecting/hoping for, whether they're announced or not, are MMJ or Jim James on Friday and Dawes on Sunday.
So I'll be making my first trip to NFF Friday this year. Any general tips on the festival I should know? I've read through the official site but figured I'd see what people here recommend as far as parking and traveling to the fest.
Also question about the GA area in front of the main stage- how big is it? How long do people usually wait for headliners? Thanks in advance

Bring lots of drugs. Not many people know how huge the drug scene is at NFF. Many more people high on something or other here than at Bonnaroo or even Burning Man.
And in regards to waiting for headliners, last year I went up about half way through Nickel Creek's set to get a good spot for Jack White (arguably the biggest headliner NFF has had) and I was maybe three people away from the front.

I second the parking question. I didn't buy a parking pass with my tickets - should I? Or have folks found it better to park in one of the lots nearby and take the ferry (which the site seems to be encouraging)?
I buy a parking pass because where we stay is closer to the Festival than downtown. I've always had good luck parking at the fest but, we get there early and soak up the beautiful surroundings before the gates open.

Edit: Nickel Creek were on right before JW.
You are so bad... (shaking head and laughing)
Happy early birthday! Have you started the festivities yet? Hope it's a great one (no broken bones though)!
Thanks Cath! And Happy early Birthday to you too! To-mor-rows my birthday, na na nan nanah, al-most your birth-day to-ooo (I'll keep my day job.)
Going out for a fabulous Surf and Turf Lunch with my family shortly. Anddddd just poured an Absolute WildTea and diet Sierra mist. NFF training has begun!
I'm holding out the completely unfounded and unlikely theory that #2 is MMJ and they will double as Water's band
Weren't you naysaying this possibility when I brought it up a few weeks ago? I'm glad you've come to your senses.
I decided that instead of trying to deny the possibility in order not to get my hopes up I'm just going to mention it as much as possible in hope of willing it into reality
I still have a solid belief that there is a great chance of Eddie Vedder coming on Friday. I know that Newport has wanted him for some time now, and he is good friends with Roger Waters, so if he needs some convincing.
It's also partly because I want it lol
He just got announced for a benefit concert in Chicago (hot Stove cool music) today. Good to know he's doing solo stuff.
