Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Ok so what do we want to know? Aside from the obvious lineup questions, I'm personally interested in who they wanted but didn't get, infrastructure/site/production changes, any room for lineup additions, the possibility of a livestream, plans for Aftershows, and the VIP perks if anything changes.
So Governors Ball bills itself as purely a music festival (whereas Coachella and Bonnaroo bill themselves as a "Music and Arts Festival"). Do you ever think one day you'll make that jump?
NYC has the greatest stand up comedy scene in the world. It's a shame to not take advantage of that.
I know you can't have permanent installations on Randall's Island. But having something artistic and imaginative on site like the Coachella snail or a Sonic Forrest would be pretty darn awesome too.
Thanks for putting together the highlight of my summers."

I would love to see a comedy tent there, great question!
It boggles my mind that they don't! On any given night in the city I can go to several comedy shows, some with big names. Maybe they just don't want to cut into that industry? We'll see

I just think daytime, outdoors comedy is tough to do and not always desired by the comedians. They'd be better off hosting/promoting night time comedy shows at venues in the city like they do the late nights.

Well I mean you do have the Oddball Comedy tour now,; which is specifically daytime outdoor comedy and has had some huge names. I'm sure they could put together some sort of lineup if they wanted.
I was going to work in a suggestion of doing it on stage and skipping the tent thing all together. But this is good enough.

Oddball may start during the day but the main sets go on at night and a lot of the venues were seated (with maybe some lawn in the back). It's not the same as doing a wide open, uncovered stage to a group of people who are standing around talking.
Actually, looking now and the Oddball stuff doesn't go on during the day. Most sets anyway. It's pretty much all night time stuff.
I know there can be daytime comedy at festivals but a lot of the times you hear comedians talk about it they don't like the day time, outdoors, loud music/distractions. Even at Roo where it's enclosed in a tent there are complaints about how loud the music is and how performing during the day is odd when they're so used to doing late night sets.
I think to do it right they'd have to build something enclosed. Or just have a comedian do a few minutes between sets while people set up and switch off....but even that would be tough and likely not ideal for the stand up.

Oddball comedy happens midsummer. Both years I went, the only person who was on stage at night for their full set was the last act (Chapelle/Louie.. The act that was on before them Flight/Sarah Silverman got partial darkness though). They also have a second stage that is wide open/uncovered.

Yea, that's just great. Still doesn't really change any of what I said about many comedians talking about not enjoying the outdoor daytime festival setting as a comedy set. For Governor's Ball it would be tough because they don't have a ton of space to begin with and I don't think stand up on one of the main stages would really work out all that well. Would be better to set up some kind of enclosed area in the corner somewhere.

Sunday's main stage will have Noel Gallagher doing a 75 minute set subheadlining for The Black Keys. My day has been made. Can't wait!
EDIT: actually after looking at their answer again they confirmed Noel's 75 minutes, and confirmed both of them for Sunday, but I guess Im just speculating that Noel is on the main stage. How could he not be, though?
