Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
If by some miracle there's a day where I could see Bjork, Hot Chip, and then any assortment of a few of Ratatat, Noel Gallagher, Tame Impala, Atmosphere, FlyLo, Rudimental, Twin Shadow, Gorgon City, and People Under the Stairs, I'd do it.
Who makes the billing order? Where in the fuck is Flying Lotus a bigger act than Weird Al Yankovic and Death From Above 1979?
after his last album? Every festival in the world. Death from above newest album kinda blows
New Flying Lotus is great no doubt. I guess maybe you're right about The DFA billing, but no chance in hell is flying lotus bigger than Weird Al.
Fun Fun Fun Fest had DFA billed higher than Flying Lotus this past November and on closer inspection, Governors ball is the only festival I can find that has billed Flying Lotus higher than DFA 1979.

I'm considering this festival, will it see out, how soon? Their are at least 7 absolutely killer acts I would like to see and want to catch Bjork's exhibit at the Moma also while in town. I just went to New York for the first time to start off the year and still have lots left to see.
Also, Lombardi's Pizza is one of the greatest things on the planet.
My top acts: Bjork, MMJ, St. Vincent, Tame Impala, Future Islands, Flume, The War on Drugs, Little Dragon, Hot Chip, MO, Ratatat, Conor Oberst, Sharon Van Etten, and there are a few other bands I need to check out for sure.

Gov Ball 2014 pretty much changed my life and I'm terrified this year won't live up. I'm bringing a first timer this year though so hopefully that will keep me excited.

I have gone every year and it's always a fun time. I wouldn't worry, theirs plenty on the lineup to look forward to.. Just pray the weather cooperates.

True, I mean how can you not have fun with a lifetime supply of miller lite?!?!?!?
All jokes aside though, I'm sure it'll be great. I just want my friend to have as an amazing first year as I did and I'm being hypercritical. Honestly I truly am looking forward to a ton of stuff, and even if every show is terrible, I'll still be with friends I never get to see in one of my fave places on earth. Plus it's a great way to start preparing yourself for roo, haha.

Can anyone give a brief comparison of the experience at the Governors Ball compared to Bonnaroo? How are the crowds? Are people as welcoming and free-loving as Roo?
I like the lineup and have been meaning to get back up to NYC, but I'm concerned it won't be the same sort of experience you get from Bonnaroo without everyone camping together.

I went last year and it kind of just felt like a bunch of bands in a field/on an island. I had a good time, but there wasn't really any festival environment in my opinion. Nothing like Coachella or Bonnaroo where it feels like you're entering a different world, but everyone there seemed pleasant.

It's not the same experience at all. Both are fun and unique in their own ways. But if you want a Bonnaroo experience, you need to go to Bonnaroo. Governors Ball is a party. At Bonnaroo you need to pace yourself or the rest of the weekend will be ruined. At Governors Ball you know you are going to end the day in (hopefully) a clean rejuvinating environment.
You can also choose to turn the festival into an NYC vacation and spend half the day at the Bronx Zoo, checking out MoMA, or visiting the Botanical Gardens; and just show up late in the day and see the headliners. After the fest is over you can choose to hit a cool night club, you can head to Brooklyn and chill at a warehouse party or hit the Biergarten, you can go to an official Gov Ball after show and see one of the acts on the lineup again; or you can just head home and crash.
Governors Ball is much more of a festival where it is what you make of it. With Bonnaroo you know what you are getting; and that's not a knock on it. I love the Bonnaroo experience. I can't wait to spend two weeks hitting both.

I went to Gov Ball last year as a volunteer, my first festival, at the end of 33, and I volunteered by myself. So I have nothing to compare it to. But, the volunteering experience was great, and made me want to go back being unfettered by volunteer responsibilities. I've recruited at least one person to join me (my ex...).
I thought it was a great environment, but like I said, nothing to compare it to.
Disappointed by the lineup, but last year's lineup was pretty great, and there's enough interesting stuff that I already bought a ticket. Going to try to go to Firefly as well.
Saving up vacation time for Bonnaroo in the future. Of course, when Prince is the headliner I will walk from Pennsylvania!

Everyone has pretty much already answered this but I wanted to add my two cents
Roo and Gov Ball are two completely different but equally amazing experiences. Gov ball doesn't have quite the awesome sense of community roo does, but everyone I encountered was super welcoming and chill. It's like spending an entire day in a park with your friends seeing back to back fantastic shows then getting to go home and shower. This was mentioned in another post but it's also nice to be able to do things in the city on the days you aren't interested in the daytime artists or go out after the headliners.
I would definitely still say there's a festival experience, but it's more like a baby step into the Roo life. If you're even mildly considering it, I would go.

Its looks like the promoters of Gov Ball are doing a Reddit Q&A this thursday. They are pretty open about everything. Even when people would ask which day a band was playing, they would answer. YOu could pretty much figure out who was playing on what day based on this last year. Hopefully this year will be the same.

Noel has a date on Saturday, the either Friday or Sunday for him.
EDIT: Sunday confirmed for Noel by the dates he just released. Kind of torn because I'd like to see him, but I doubt I could stay for all of Sunday (I assume he has a prime if not headlining spot). Not sure if its worth not covering the entire fest just to see him in Boston on Saturday.

Since he didnt announce another NYC date, I'm praying he gets that headlining spot (playing opposed to Drake or Mau5) just like Damon Albarn got last year.

Yep, would make a lot of sense and the crowd would be small but good! Damon vs. Outkast was the WORST, but Noel vs any of those headliners would be an easy choice. Would be cool if Ryan Adams was on the same day and they did some sort of collab.

If Noel closes the Honda stage I could totally see either Ryan Adams or Tame Impala sub-headlining that stage.
Who did you choose last year, Outkast or Damon? I watched like 20 minutes of Outkast, then decided to run across the island to watch Damon instead. Best decision, such an intimate show.

I was stupid... Didn't pay attention to the schedule and left my rail spot on Outkast around 18 songs in to see the end of Damon... Who was already done.
Granted, I saw most of the Outkast songs I wanted to see, but I felt so goddamn dumb haha. Saw Damon the next week in Boston and it was a great show, but I could tell the Gov Ball show was something special for him.
Tame Impala or Ryan Adams into Noel would be amazing, though I'm counting on Tame Impala either closing the stage opposite or the tent because of their light show.
