Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I would also recommend hotels in NJ that are close to the PATH line. You'll save alot of money that way.
Definitely would save some money, but I dunno. I stayed at an airbnb in east Harlem and even that was a pain. That walk over the bridge is veeeeeery long at the end of the day.

Does anyone know how much single day passes typically cost for Gov Ball? Also, is traffic usually bad getting there? I really like the Sunday lineup and would love to go for the day, but I'm not sure how difficult traveling to Randall's Island from Philly and then back to Philly would be.

One day GA are $105 plus fees, so if the fees are the same as for a 3 day, it will be $145 for a one day pass.
Getting to Randall's Island is the hardest part of Gov Ball. If you're asking about traffic because you'd be driving, you can't park on the island. Your best bet is probably to find free parking in Astoria Queens and walk across the bridge from there but it will still be over a mile walk.

Had my 3-day VIP pass purchased from day 1. This only thing this festival did wrong was come out right after the Coachella lineup making it this year's dark horse.
Anyone ever been VIP? Also staying right by where the ferry picks up in Manhattan, so I'd be interested to hear how the water method of transportation has worked out for people in the past.

I've haven't had the opportunity to go to Gov. Ball myself, but was leaning towards an one day VIP pass on Sunday for my girlfriend that doesn't have the luxury of being 6' tall. Is it worth for the extra money or does VIP get just as packed?
Now that the Firefly Lineup is out, i once again am seeing cries and outrage for Hot Chip, St. Vincent, Tame Impala, The War on Drugs......... Gov Ball literally has everyone that people are 'asking for' yet people are upset about the vibezzzzzz or not being able to camp. Oh well.... GOV BALL ALL DAY!!!!
I like last year's lineup slightly more, but I think they still did a great job this year!

When this lineup first came out I really wasn't feeling it, but now that I look into it more it's actually pretty good. Maybe my expectations have just been lowered from all the other lineups that have come out since then.
Must See 2018 List: 1. Drake 2. The Cure 3. David Byrne 4. King Krule 5. Moses Sumney 6. Dua Lipa 7. Mount Kimbie 8. Perfume Genius 9. Yaeji 10. Big Thief

Yeah, I actually think the lineup is everything you want in a festival lineup - hits the high notes with bigger acts (acts with new albums like Flo, Decemberists, etc), enough uniqueness to distinguish (hello Bjork! And Weird Al, and Lana), and enough lottery tickets in the undercard that everyone should find stuff they like. And we still don't know the aftershows.

I do know that some people complained about waiting after the festival ended (and EVERYONE was trying to get on the ferry) but I don't have any firsthand experience with it. The buses were good last year but that also created a line at some points.
Ideally you'd find a ride to drop you off but that's not usually an option.

Uber?
Uber or Taxi could work but I've heard from a few friends that Uber is super expensive in the city now. I haven't used it. I know they can jack up pricing for times with high volume (like New Year's Eve) so I wasn't sure if they'd try that for a festival.
Definitely worth a shot. My suggestion was more about "if you've got a friend in the city" because then it's free. Had a buddy drop me off after I crashed at his place last year and it was the easiest travel option I used.

I wouldnt take the ferry, such a rip off. You can just take the 4/5/6 train to 115th and walk the bridge to randalls island. The walk is only like 10 minutes.
Then again Im from NYC. If you're coming from out of town and dont know the train routes or your way around then the ferry is definitely your easiest option.

Now accepting applications for someone to hold my hand going and leaving the festival every day. This sounds like a huge pain in the ass getting to/from the fest. My hotel is southeast of the festival (lol nyc geography)

My buddy and I decided to splurge on a relatively nice hotel about 1/2 mile from the ferry station. We're getting old and like convenience. Rock hard, sleep hard!

This x100. The ferry when leaving the festival can take 2-3 hours (Last year I started walking to the ferry as soon as Outkast started playing The Whole World because I knew that was the last song; and the wait was still ridiculous). On both Saturday and Sunday I wound up just taking the ferry to the festival and then walking the bridge and taking the subway back to midtown at the end of the day. It was much faster.
I can't wait till 2017 when I can just drive to Randall's Island again.

Last year they did a really good job of not marking where the ferry picks up resulting in tons of people being herded around in the dark because they didn't adequately lighten the place.
Really liked the fest, but leaving it was always a massive pain in the ass. Getting there wasn't too easy, but at least there was light.

itrainmonkeys and @gambit88 do have a point, which I also can attest to. Getting on the island is easy. Getting off is a problem. I don't remember how long it took me to get off the island after the last act. It was definitely less than 2 hours. But walking across the 125th St Bridge into Harlem at night is a great alternative to the ferries because not as many people use it and you're always moving instead of waiting in line for another ferry.
Agreed with above. Getting there seems to be rather painless. We've always packed a cab and split it (obviously not always an option). If you're visiting the cabbies will be privy to the festival so tell them the FDR to Triboro and you shouldn't get jerked around. Getting home is tougher. Some nights the buses are the best, some nights the ferries, sometimes just need to suck it up and walk. Cabs from the end of the bridge/bus drop off are not too tough if you make haste and are aggressive.
Logistically, any hotel you stay in that is on a subway line is all you need. I stayed at CitizenM hotel in Times Square last year for the festival. Just took the subway to Harlem and walked over the bridge. I think that is definitely the easiest way to go.

Does anyone have experience with coming from Brooklyn? The friend I stay with is moving out there from the UWS and I can't decide what's going to be the easiest way for me to get up to Randall's.
