I'm trying to pick out the six headliners? The Black Keys, My Morning Jacket, Drake, Florence and the Machine, Deadmau5, and Bjork or Lana as the sixth?
No disrespect to Florence and the Machine, because they are incredible live: they haven't been around long enough to warrant a headliner spot. Unless their new album is aiming high, slick stage production, and they can put on a 90 min plus set rather than their average of not even 80 min: then I still see them as a top tier pre headliner act.
Deadmau5 is always intriguing, so I won't question that.
I'm not a Lana fan, and would be more intrigued by a Bjork headlining set because then she's not limited with what she can bring to the table. I saw some highlights from her Glastonbury set from 2006 or 2007 on Palladia, and it was a rave of epic proportions. She can also sing really good, gets the audience into it, and has great stage presence!
No one should question whether MMJ warrants a headliner spot. I've seen highlights of fests old and current, and if they show up at Roo or Lolla(or freaking both), I will see them for the first time and have my soul uplifted!
I'm sick of Black Keys. That's the act I'm trying to avoid at any fest I go to. Saw them at Lolla 2012, and loved every minute of it. However, that was when it was just Dan and Patrick. Now they have that guy on keyboards providing some trippy background vocals, and it just doesn't feel the same. Also, their set is predictable now. It's almost as if you can guess what's coming next. If you've never seen them before, then don't let me knock em: they are good live but I'll never tag them as a must see.
Drake hasn't done enough to warrant a top spot either, but hey he can either prove me wrong at Chella and GB or bomb like I think he might.
My top acts from this batch.
My Morning Jacket, St. Vincent, Deadmau5, Future Islands, Florence and the Machine, Ratatat, Bjork, Death from Above 1979, Tame Impala, Ryan Adams, War on Drugs, Chromeo, Flume, Royal Blood, and Hot Chip.
It's decent, but the top of the card is a wreck. If single day tickets aren't bad, and if they put Bjork and Hot Chip on the same day, I'd consider it. Otherwise it's mostly a "meh." I feel like maybe the bands that will be on the festival circuit this year just really aren't tops on my list.

What fucking planet are you from where MMJ "warrants" a headliner spot but Drake does not? Just because you love one and loathe the other doesn't mean shit.
Didn't they add a bigger name last year just after the lineup? I think it was vw or the strokes. Could be wrong but it seems like it needs something torwards the top still

They added The Strokes later last year after the initial announcement. I am thinking the lineup is incomplete just based on the fact that there are 4 stages. It doesn't look like enough names to me.
EDIT: 2014 had 68 artists. 2015 has 66. So either that could be the full lineup or there are 1-2 more artists still to be announced.

I agree with you on this. I feel like the Black Keys are stalking me a'la the creepy saxophone sketch on SNL with Jon Hamm.
Undercard is fantastic - top line is a hot mess - I'm curious as to why there was such a big price increase? I'd have to predict a serious step up production since I don't think that money really went to the lineup

Same reason why there was a big price hike at Bonnaroo: they like money. Festivals are the flavor of the day right now, everyone wants to make money while they can.

To be fair, you can't compare Governors Ball to roo as far artist placement goes. It is a smaller fest and Bjork can headline fests. Maybe more so in Europe than here.
Bonnaroo taking the coward's way out and having Bjork preheadlining at 4th on the lineup says more in the negative about Bonnaroo than it does about any fest that has her rightfully headlining. Putting her behind Mumford & Sons was insane, and it was even crazier to drag Jack Johnson's tired carcass in to perform his Jimmy Buffett on NyQuil routine instead of just letting Bjork do her thing.
I have a feeling this is what we are going to be saying about most of the lineups this year.
And yes, Hot Chip better be at Bonnaroo.
I agree - this will end up being the year's trend I think - I'm interested to see what firefly ends up with as a top line since they tend to go for big/popular names on their lineup
