Undercard is fantastic - top line is a hot mess - I'm curious as to why there was such a big price increase? I'd have to predict a serious step up production since I don't think that money really went to the lineup
Same reason why there was a big price hike at Bonnaroo: they like money. Festivals are the flavor of the day right now, everyone wants to make money while they can.
Yeah, as festivals are succeeding, everyone is raising their prices, especially artists, but also city/parks, vendors, staff, etc. Plus Gball is doing the cashless RFID thing this year. So unfortunately that extra money isn't really going toward grabbing bigger names or upping production.
Very excited for this lineup. Bjork, MMJ, Ratatat, St. Vincent, Conor Oberst, Florence + the Machine, Tame Impala, Atmosphere...all acts I want to see that I haven't gotten the chance to yet. Pretty sure I'm gonna go to this.
Did they make any announcements about a later end time or "late nights"?
I know with all the after shows in the city they keep a hard pressed stop time but I feel like this year has a lot of EDM acts that can't all be stuck playing while the sun is up.

No way they'll get past the NY Park's 11pm curfew - but I'd expect some great aftershows
Really considered making the trip up to Gov Ball this year, but the lineup just doesn't do it for me. Some good acts on the bill, but the top line is a huge let down.

Gotta remember that gball has conflicting headliners.. So to me the top line is Bjork, MMJ, and Mau5. And I'm pretty happy with that.

I didn't know that and Bjork and MMJ are two acts I'd love to see again so that wouldn't be too bad. Still need to see a few more lineups before I make the decision.

Figured as much. I just hope the after shows and daily lineup align nicely for me.

I didn't hear anything about later sets.
I am thinking they will throw Big G and Flume on the Honda Stage for night slots. The rest will play in the Gotham tent or Honda stage when the suns up. Deadmau5 will probably close the Gball mainstage one of the nights, Sunday perhaps.
I hope they do another AMA like they did last year to clarify this shiz though.

I'm hoping for that too and expect it - trying to confirm

Great lineup with a lot of acts I'd love to see. Wish I could afford it. May look into day tickets when they go on sale. Would love to catch the MMJ day (hopefully it's not the Friday).
Not at all a fan of this lineup, doesn't even compare to 2014. I was dead set on making my first trip to Gov Ball this year but no way can I justify throwing that much money at such a poor lineup.

I'm surprised to not see the Districts on this list, they seem right in your wheelhouse. Have you seen them live before? I like their recorded material just fine (new album out soon), but holy hell ao they bring it to another level live. They play loud and tight, and are tons of fun. Highly recommend catching them in a small room on tour while you can.
No disrespect to Florence and the Machine, because they are incredible live: they haven't been around long enough to warrant a headliner spot. Unless their new album is aiming high, slick stage production, and they can put on a 90 min plus set rather than their average of not even 80 min: then I still see them as a top tier pre headliner act.
This is a very 'Bonnaroo' mentality... the fact is, urban festivals typically have to stop at 11pm, which means every set, from the bottom of the undercard to the headliners, is going to be shorter than what we expect at Bonnaroo (IIRC Coachella afternoon sets run 30-40 minutes). 80 minutes is a perfectly acceptable headliner set time.
In any case, Bonnaroo headliners dip into that runtime pretty regularly. Stevie Wonder, Arcade Fire and Kanye West all ran 80-90 minutes.

They are listed 4th. My mindset for festivals has usually been the top 3 names are the top "real" headliners (if the festival is a 3-day fest) but I know everyone feels different.
Last year Vampire Weekend headlined and they have about the same amount of years and albums as Florence. You admit yourself that they are incredible live so I don't see why they shouldn't get a headliner spot (even tho I don't consider them a headliner here) for an up and coming festival. It's time to start making some new headliners as we can't just keep rotating/repeating the same old guys.

^This. Florence is huge, and I wouldn't be surprised if the new album boosts her to top 3 headliner status in Europe (I think she already headlined Orange Warsaw last year). Also, she was billed 5th at Lolla and ACL in 2012.
