I have 1 extra ticket to St. Paul at Thalia Hall tonight, 1 extra for Sturgill Simpson at Metro on Friday, and 1 extra to Boys Noize on Saturday if anyone is looking for a free aftershow to attend.
Damn. I'd take that Sturgill ticket in a heart beat but I have to go out for my cousins going away party. If I were staying in the city tonight I'd take St Paul too... Shit.
I can't decide if I want to camp out for MACCA or not. A part of me does, and the run of shows leading up to him is pretty good. But the other part of me is like, "I've never been to Lolla before, you have one day & I want to see Hot Chip." Ugh. Decisions...
Anyways, I'm 2 hours away from Chicago now!! My back is killing me, this bus is nice tho. I am freezing. I should attempt sleep. I'm so excited!!!

Go see Hot Chip, you'll still end up with a fine spot for Paul at that time.

Since it's your first time and only day I suggest seeing as much as you can. If you are planning on catching Alabama Shakes you'll still get a pretty good spot for Paul.

First time seeing Paul McCartney last night, unsurprisingly it was unreal. Loved that he brought out Brittany Howard
EDIT: Surprised I don't see any sites reporting this non-story, but at one point in between songs Kaskade's set was so loud that paul said something long the lines of "Our next song is going to be a mash up between our song and...whatever that shit is" pointing towards Perry's

Travis Scott showed up a half hour late. Played 10 seconds of two songs and told the crowd to rush security and started a riot. Biggest joke in music. Fuck him.
My dad and I camped for 7.5 hours to get rail for Metallica. It was worth it.
Paul's set was possibly the best I've ever seen.
I think we all say that after seeing Paul haha.
This was my 4th time seeing him, 2nd at a festival. This setlist was spectacular. I missed some of the cut songs (Yesterday, Long & Winding Road) but the added ones (Magical Mystery Tour & Can't Buy Me Love) more than made up for it. Magical Mystery Tour was a much better opener than Eight Days A Week too. Def preferred it.
I'd say this was on par with Roo. Roo was my first time seeing him and we had a great spot, so it may be slightly higher. But man, he killed it. And bringing Brittany Howard out for Get Back was awesome. Such a special moment.
If you walk just past Chow Town and make a right into wooded area near the BMI stage, there is a stand featuring German food every year (there's also a craft beer tent right next door). They serve pork schnitzel sandwiches on pretzel buns with sour kraut and grilled onions that are amazing. If you have the opportunity I suggest you try one, and make sure to add some brown mustard and put the some of the chips they serve with it directly on the sandwich. You will not be disappointed.
Biggest surprise: The Macca crowd was much more violent and angry in regards to people trying to get close than the Metallica fans were. By a comfortable margin too.
And the set on Friday was great but Roo Macca > Lolla Macca by a big margin. Songs sounded the same but the Roo crowd was much, much better.
I can kind of understand this. I mean metal fans are more used to festival protocol, and are pretty united in their love of music. At a Macca show, well that's probably a more diverse crowd of that could be anyone trying to get up front in the audience. I can just see people being not as united and getting frustrated in a dense crowd waiting in the heat all day for Macca. I mean there are a lot of assholes in the world that like The Beatles
The crowd at MACCA really was awful. At one point PorchRadio had to take the 11year old human to the potties. And granted, we knew if he got back to our spot at all it'd be difficult. But he said people straight up wouldn't let them up. Like stood there, looked at them and said "no", even after telling them he was trying to get back to his wife/kids freaking mom. What jerks. I understand not wanting people to get in front of you when you've been waiting. But let a fucking kid get back to his mom. Wtf.
Oh, and I'm surprised to see mention of food, when I didn't see a single food vendor. Not one. I was actually hungry and couldn't eat because I couldn't find food. And I spent all my time by the two sections of main stages. There should be food somewhere along that path considering it's the main 4 stages.... I was really disappointed and confused by that.

This one's on you. Between the south main stage and north main stage there's about 1/2 a mile of food vendors.
