This will be the year they finally put out a decent lineup. I have no doubt it will happen because there is no way I can attend even a single day and that is how life works. I would love to be able to drive an hour instead of hours for a festival, but to say the lineups for Bunbury have been bad in past years is a severe understatement. I would say MPMF lineup has been much better than Bunbury the past few years, and they should not even be comparable.

They really upped their game. It took me a little while to get to Father John Misty on the poster, which demonstrates some of the depth. I wish I could do both this and 'roo. ...
Duuuuude. The leaked line up.... I'm seriously shocked at how good it is. Makes me wish I had started my Primary earlier so I can actually go. I may say fuck it and mark off....
Also, someone posted the poster in the comments of the latest hint. So here's another picture.

Ughhh, I live in Louisville and Forecastle has MMJ, Modest Mouse, The Word, RL Grime, and a handful or others I want to see. Its still probably better in my eyes for depth, but this line-up has a much better top 10. Probably going to get a day pass either Saturday or Sunday and try to see some combo of Snoop/Brand New/Tame Impala/FJM/Kacey Musgraves/Rev. Horton Heat.
Bunbury did a good job this year. I really thought it was done after the last couple lineups were kind of stillborn (in my humble opinion) but looks like it is turning things around.
I doubt I can make all three days but I will look hard at single day tickets. I am having to back out of Wakarusa so this will be a great consolation if I can get a Father John Misty/Tame Impala combo.
Can someone on here explain to me how it is similar/different from Forecastle? I've been to Forecastle several times but never Bunbury. Are there any obvious hotel choices nearby? I am honestly not even that familiar with Cincinnati, so if someone could give me a quick Bunbury for Dummies rundown I'd really appreciate it.
Who makes guacamole happen!?!? Does a tabloid like the University of Oklahoma student paper make guacamole happen or do ME AND YOU make it exist? Just cause they write about it doesn't make guacamole exist - ME AND YOU MAKE IT EXIST!

I've never been to Forecastle and I haven't had to get a hotel since I live within driving distance. I do suggest you don't limit any hotel search to Cincinnati only. The festival is right on the river, so it is totally feasible to get a cheaper hotel in Newport/Covington Kentucky and walk accross the bridge every day. The past few years they allowed re-entry so I've actually walked to Kentucky to grab some food and sit back for a bit in an air-conditioned place. If you have any specific questions about the festival I can try to answer them.

I haven't been to either, but normally when I go to a large event on the river (like Sir Paul at GABP), I will park in Kentucky at the Levee and walk over. It beats dealing with all the lights, traffic, and one ways downtown. And it's easier to get out.

1. The venue is fairly similar to Forecastle. They're both on the river, but Forecastle has a lot more open space. I've only been to Bunbury once (in its first year), but the main stage area is pretty congested from 6pm on.
2. Take a look at hotels in Northern Kentucky (Newport, Covington). There's not a ton that'll be available downtown or in NKY that'll be within walking distance, which is a bummer. Hotels might be cheaper out in the burbs (Kenwood, Florence, Blue Ash) if you don't mind a few minutes diving in every day.
3. Parking will be a bit of a mess all weekend, as the Reds have home series against San Diego. As such, parking at the Banks will be like $15, and I'm pretty sure the lots closer to the festival grounds will be about $15-20. I'd recommend parking either at Newport on the Levee ($10, and easier to leave at night) and walking across the Purple People Bridge, or parking up closer to P&G or Fountain Square ($5-10). If you find a spot on the street be weary of the meters. Our new dumbass mayor just extended hours on meters downtown to include Saturday and Sunday. There's also free parking all day at Horseshoe Casino, and it's only a mile walk to the festival.
If you've any more questions about the general area, feel free to tag me. I've lived here for about a decade, so I know my way around a bit.

Very good chance I'm at this one. The line-up doesn't do quite much for me but I was offered a free trip/condo. $170 (plus food) for a trip to Cinci and Royal Blood, Manchester Orchestra, and Black Keys.....I'll see you guys there.

I've never been to Ohio in my life.
Are there any good shows going on from June 2nd to the 9th?

Bunbury is the high-water mark of the Cincinnati concert scene. Big tour tend to skip by us, usually to stop at PromoWest Live's venues in Pittsburgh and Columbus. There's a Spoon show on the 13th at the Madison. A lot of the venues have open dates around then, though. I'd keep an eye on Bogart's, Taft Theater, 20th Century Theater, Woodward Theater, and the Madison Theater. MOTR Pub is great for a local dive with free music every night.

If my bands in town app is accurate, Father John Misty, Old Crow, Tame Impala, Matt and Kim and Black Keys are on Friday. Avetts are on Saturday.
FWIW, with these festivals those sites and the bands' sites usually list Day 1 as a placeholder. We do know that the headliners are Black Keys on Friday, Avetts on Saturday, and Snoop on Sunday (full daily schedule should be out soon).
That said, if that's the Friday undercard, I'll be buying my single day pass ASAP.

certainly could be placeholders for some of those. But it also states the Decemberists for Saturday in addition to the Avetts for Saturday, so some of it must be accurate and not just placeholders… Personally, I hope it's correct because I'm hoping to just buy one single day ticket and this would me it Friday for me!
