Damn, I wish I could go on Saturday.. The only day I could go though is Friday, and although there are lots of good acts I'm not sure it'd be really worth it to me. But if my friends end up going I'll probably go too. I've never seen The Black Keys and I like their early stuff. Haven't listened to the new album at all though.
Doors opened each day at noon with bands starting at about 2. The main headliner of the night is unopposed except for maybe a local band on the smallest stage. The bands leading up to the headliner do a back and forth thing on the two biggest stages so you are running from stage to stage...well, if you want to. But since there are new owners this year, they could do it all completely different.
Schedule is out for this fest. I was extremely worried about conflicts, especially on Thursday, but really the only major overlaps are early in the day so this schedule is about as good as I possibly could've hoped for. How many people usually attend this fest the only issue now is going to be the march of people between stages and the potential for the "smaller" stages to be majorly over crowded.

I wouldn't be worried about Thursday conflicts since the festival doesn't start til Friday. On a serious note, it's hard to predict things about this festival because it's under new ownership this year, they reduced the size of the grounds, and who knows how they have changed the capacity or how well tickets are selling. I'm looking at the map on the app, and it looks like they're going to be setting up the second main stage on the east side of the festival, right next to where the permanent pavilion stage is That's why shows between those two stages don't overlap, they're right next to each other). If I had to guess, this year is going to be much more crowded and there's going to be massive bottleneck issues at certain points in the festival, most notably in the crowd shifts of teenagers from Matt and Kim to Walk The Moon, and from Brand New to Twenty One Pilots.
That Friday schedule is sweet. Father John Misty, Tame Impala, Matt & Kim, Black Keys, all for cheaper than Father John Misty by himself at the Louisville palace. I am going to the beach the next day then coming back that Wednesday for Bonnaroo. Will be a week long remembered. Nice consolation prize for missing Waka.
Who makes guacamole happen!?!? Does a tabloid like the University of Oklahoma student paper make guacamole happen or do ME AND YOU make it exist? Just cause they write about it doesn't make guacamole exist - ME AND YOU MAKE IT EXIST!
Unfortunately I won't be able to make it to Bunbury this year and have listed my 3-day pass on eBay (item number 321750976365) for face value! This fest is sold out so I'd rather see one of you get it instead of some other random person. Thanks guys

Anybody know if places to look to pick up some day passes for relatively cheap? I haven't found a Bunbury fan page or forums or anything yet.. Thanks guys
anybody have any suggestions for hotels for friday night that are nearby/walkable? I know it's probably a little late in the game to get a prime spot...
That's the Bunbury forum, but it's pretty bleak. I'm searching for a Friday ticket myself for my daughter.
I'll let you know if I see anything for friday. I'm browsing craigslist and other ticket resale places. If you hear anything about sunday tickets let me know
Are the stages similar to last year? If so, could I most/all of Matt and Kim and still get a solid spot for Royal Blood?
The stages are not the same as last year. The used to have a couple of small stages East of the 275 Bridge, but it looks like they're closing that whole area down. Basically, the Yeatman's Cove Stage and the River Stage are next to eachother, and the Sawyer Point and Pavilion stage will be next to each other. Notice no shows overlap on the stage that are near eachother because of sound bleed. So, yes, you can easily catch all of Matt and Kim and get a good spot for Royal Blood, especially because everyone will be going to Walk the Moon anyways.

Well, I am somewhat cooled off now. But I will say this: I've been to Bonnaroo, Forecastle, Governor's Ball, Pitchfork, Voodoo Experience - multiple times each - and a bunch of other local, small festivals, as well as dozens of shows at venues of all sizes. There've been ups and downs, pains in the ass that come with the territory.
And I can say 100% that I will NEVER go back to Bunbury. In six years of going to festivals, this was truly the first time I've ever been to an event where it was patently obvious the organizers had no idea what they were doing.
I bitch a lot about Forecastle's lineup, but logistically and organizationally, it's a dream come true compared to Bunbury.
Disclaimer: I only went Friday, and I hear that Saturday was better, but that's likely because they had far less people to deal with. They had 20,000 on Friday and obviously are not capable of managing that number of people. I am surprised that area is even certified to have 20,000 considering it's about 1/3 the size of Forecastle.
