Gracias. My wife and I are going over options now. We might actually rent a teepee. I didn't see that option before but its a few hundred cheaper than a hotel package and wouldn't require a shuttle pass. Either way, this is the closest we've come to deciding to do the festival. I hope 2016 is the year!
The teepees are cool, do that if you can afford it.
Awesome. I think 2016 is our year if its going to happen. Trying to work with two friends because 4 person teepee is much cheaper than 2 person. But I'm thrilled. Coachella has been on my radar since Rage reunited there in 2007. Then Prince/Portishead 2008. McCartney/The Cure 2009. And on and on and on. So to finally go would be a huge victory for adult me.

Dear God it actually sounds like Oasis could be a possibility. If they reunite for 2016 I cant see them skipping Coachella as their first US date. Never been to Coachella before, but I plan on buying a ticket on the advance sale next month based solely on this possibility.

Good luck. The presale sells out faster than most festivals sell out their regular sales.
I'd be happy about Oasis, but I feel like everyone is forgetting how not-good they were the last go around. I'd still make it a priority though, even if Liam is only doing it because he's broke and his solo career is a joke.
I booked the Comfort Inn in Palm Springs for what should be weekend one today. Rate was about the same as what I paid this year, but I will still keep my eye out for better deals.
Nah, keep trying. A lot of hotels will show as sold out when they actually haven't even released rooms for next year yet.
I booked this time last year, and it says they booked their last room an hour ago.
If you're looking at booking.com, I doubt that's accurate. I remember looking at hotels and having booking state they just booked their last room, and then looking the next day and finding rooms available. I think it may depend on how many rooms the hotel has offered on booking at that point in time. Check every week.
So is the camping just awful? Or people prefer hotels? Not doing one big holiday next year, probably gonna do coachella instead.
I like the camping. The spaces are small, but it's convenient for me to stay on the grounds. It also offers the opportunity of meeting many interesting neighbors.

Yeah convenience and meeting people have always been the appeal of camping at fests to me, but it seems everyone gets a hotel for coachella. Didn't know if that was a holdover from the pre-camping years or the camping area was just shiz.

Camping also costs extra (as does a hotel). I think it's just a matter of preference. We had no trouble with traffic coming in and leaving everyday.
gardenfresh, how would you compare camping vs. hotel?

I've camped a couple times. Both times the weather did crazy things, LOTS of wind (destroyed some neighboring camps). Both times it was really noisy. Because the music ends "early", the party continues in the campground, which is fine if you're into that...but after a long day of festing I would rather sleep in some quiet AC than listen to my neighbors untz it out. The shower lines are ridiculous too.
That said, the campgrounds are really nice, a lot like VIP at bonnaroo. There are art installations, food trucks and other activities. It's cool, I think I'm just too old for it.
Also, the camping passes sell out even faster than the tickets, so that's an issue as well.
You'd be best served to book a refundable hotel and if you DO get a camping pass, decide what you want to do at that point.

After doing both... I agree, it's a matter of preference. Hard to choose one that's better than another. Here are some observances:
Hotel/House Pros: bathroom, shower, couches, air conditioning, kitchen(ettes?), pools, beds, clean sheets you don't have to wash later.
Hotel/House Cons: easy to lag around, no camping activities, could get lost in the couch and lose motivation to go into the fest, distance away from fest and travel time is a buzzkill, more expensive.
Camping pros: You are camping on the festival grounds (this should be the only thing needed to convince you!), tons of stuff going on Coachella related 24 hrs a day, artwork to see, merch sales to partake in, activities to play a part in, breakfast burritos and iced coffees to eat, five minute to ten minute walks into festival gates, pristine grass to walk barefoot on (weekend 1 only).
Camping cons: long shower lines, heat and sunlight, body odor, obnoxiously loud dance music into the late hours of the night, coachella wooks (bros), hauling your shit and packing it into a car, sneaking your contraband past security, having to buy ice and worry about a cooler.

I'm sure I am forgetting something.
Am I to understand sneaking contraband past security is not an issue for commuters? Asking for a friend, of course.
I'm thinking of going the Airbnb.com route for housing instead of a hotel. Found this place and it's pretty darn great. Would anyone be interested in splitting a house rental if I decide to go that route? After skipping due to lineup this year and majorly regretting it, I'm 100% on for 2016.
