I wasnt too into 21 pilots until I saw them live in 13. One of my favorite shows of the weekend, if you absolutely cant stand their music dont go, but their show was so much fun that I will be there if there arent conflicts.
Dexter is to TV what the Black Keys are to music. Started off ok, later stuff is garbage. People who like it think they have good taste but they don't.
The Black Keys are better as an arena rock band than they ever were with their "just a couple guys playin' the authentic blues" schtick.
Fuck that. Chulahoma is great. The Black Keys' problem is that they're lousy live, and big rooms really highlight the warts.

Chulahoma is great. I loved Thickfreakness and Rubber Factory too. I don't know that they are terrible live. I didn't enjoy them the last time I saw them at Beale Street Music Fest. I just enjoyed their show more when in it was rawer and in the smaller rooms. I liked their newer records, but haven't had a desire to go back to any of them since Brothers.
So... If you guys are watching TV and you think you hear a WilliamOnyeabor song, you aren't going crazy, like I thought I was. The song "Body and Soul" is in an Always Sunny in Philadelphia commercial.

Went through that yesterday. Just hours after discovering what the atomic bomb fuss is all about. But I think it's fantastic man, unless they are running multiple onyeabor commercials.
And I'm getting deja vu cause the same thing happened a few years back with a django django song
I am sure that you have been asked this, but I have to ask anyway... Have you ever seen them live? I mean, that would turn any non-believer into a MMJ fan. Jim James is god-like on stage. I like the honestly, it was shocking to read though.
The worst part about MMJ is that their fans refuse to accept anything other than zealous idolatry when it comes to the band. If you don't see them as The World's Greatest and Most Mind Meltingest Funk and Soul and Reverb Jam Showcase then obviously you just haven't seen them enough, because Yim Yames (lol get it he replaced the "j"s with "y"s) is a genius and you must accept this.
I think more people feel this way about MMJ and don;t admit because of those fans they have. Kind of like, your not cool, if you don't like them as much. I think thats why not many people made a big deal when I said they aren't for me really. I was expecting everyone to go off on me for it, but I think more people agree than I thought.

Been listening to a lot of these groups on the lineup and out of everyone I am not familiar with yet, Odesza is the best I've heard. Their whole album is great! I am thinking they will be a great Thursday act if not late night.

Everyone complaining Childish Gambino was billed too high underestimated his popularity. He's the fifth-most added artist of everyone on the lineup, only behind Mumford & Sons, Florence+The Machine, Billy Joel, and Kendrick Lamar.
I had never listened to 21 Pilots until a few minutes ago.
Add them to my "avoid like the plague" list.
I had never listened to these guys either, and saw all the negative comments, so I gave 'em a try. I agree that they are pretty horrible. They belong at a high school talent show, not a major music festival.
I saw 21 pilots for less than 21 minutes in 2011 (they suck) .............not impressed at all with this year's lineup but lets face it Bonnaroo is the greatest 4 / 5 days of your life regardless of who is playing!!

Wow. So horrible....like a poor man's linkin park.
Wait. Uhhhh. I had heard a few songs before in passing, really wasn't a fan - but THIS VIDEO, MAN. And the intro....dear god. Just awful. Is it supposed to be ironic or something, maybe? Hopefully?
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Look at the book series it was based on. After book two, they started adding a supernatural demon to the mix as part of Dexters problems. So showtime went their own way.
I lost interest after season 4. I watched the beginning of season 5, but was done.
On a side note, I did meet the kid that played Dexters adopted son. His dad is a regional director for TMobile, and when we worked the Birmingham tornado the kid brought us snacks working in our version of "centcom". Really quiet kid. His mom and him lived in LA for the acting part while the dad lived in Jacksonville.
holy shit, 21 pilots is fucking terrible. i can never un-hear that.
I went to see their 2013 roo show. My then wifes best friend said they were a "must hear". The music, well, was awful.
That said, their stage show is entertaining. The lead singer even scared the drummer when he climbed to the rafters and started singing from the top of the other tent. Not tied off. I kept thinking "if this guy falls it'd be sad, but epic".
I'll never buy a song, and will tune to something else if they ever play on alt nation, but I will likely see their show just to compare what they did in 2013 to 2015.

I feel like people outside of Ohio don't realize how dedicated of a fanbase twenty one pilots have. They sold out 2 nights at LC Pavilion in Columbus (12k tickets) in a few hours. If they don't get the Which Stage they will have the most packet tent all weekend.
