The more I look at it, the uglier it gets. I still may go just because I was sad to miss last year and I don't have to travel far, but I would also feel like a bit of a chump paying $400 for this lineup in its current form.
This is kind of how I'm feeling. I'm just not that excited. I'm most excited for Dawes. That was easily my favorite roo show in 2012 and I assume they will be playing new material. But I just don't care about the rest or don't know the rest. But I know if I don't go, that I will spend all weekend wishing I was there. SO. If you are one of those people that is super happy with this lineup, would you mind putting together a list of songs/albums I should listen to so I can get properly hyped???
I feel like 5-20 is light, kinda like everyone has been bumped up a few spots. I had already accepted that this was going to be a weak festival headline year and ultimately I know I will still have fun at Kendrick and Deadmau5 and ambivalent towards Joel and Mumford. The mid and lower section is very solid and there is at least 17-20 acts I really want to see without researching the lineup. I think adding 3 or 4 bands in the 8-20 (Tame Impala, St. Vincent, Modest Mouse) range would help a lot if Roo still can pull that off. Ultimately I know this year will be a blast regardless and I do like how potential late nights are stacking up.

So with Mumford, MMJ, and Dawes being there, could a lost basement tapes superjam be in the works? Great lineup, fantastic undercard. The Primus tweet is really confusing. I think Primus is too big to be an addition but hey, maybe that's the big add we get.

Stick around. There should be an "essential albums" thread within a day or two. Usually is.

I feel like last year the top 25 was stacked. It's making this years look really bad in my opinion.
I think that's the problem. But even if No Routes Found was headlining I'd still be happy with the lineup. I can't imagine summer without Roo no matter how the top 20 stack up.

If you like Dawes, check out The Districts, Trampled by Turtles, the Jerry Douglas thing, and Hiss Golden Messenger

Rhiannon Giddens is also there. If they don't do something I'll be a tad disappointed. And if they do it could potentially make up for everything that's not on the lineup
Don't be surprised to see them throw something else in This Tent like they did with Pres. Hall Jazz Band in '13.
But that was a make up for Preservation hall getting bumped earlier in the day for whatever reason. Same with Bootsy Collins during Eminem. I pictured a Beastie Boys/Phish type scenario when insider dropped the top 4. Neither was completely unoppossed, but only for about 15 minutes i think. Kendrick into Deadmau5 with a which stage act cutting in
Pres. Hall Jazz Band were originally scheduled for noon on What, but moved because they became a part of the Superjam.
I hate to be a Negative Nancy, but after such a strong lineup in 2014, this is a big letdown. There are definitely some unique gets on the undercard (Belle & Sebastian, Tears For Fears, and Earth, Wind & Fire to name a few), but for me this doesn't justify the cost of a ticket nor a 15-hour drive. Anyways, I hope that everyone who ends up going this year has a great time! Maybe I'll see you in 2016?
I'm w u. After the last 3 years I never thought is miss a roo. Fuck, was so looking forward to it but it's really bad this year.
That kind of year. Deadmau5 is 3rd, Florence + the Machine is 5th. Such a huge festival with a underwhelming lineup. I'm not going to beat the horse to death...but I came in excited for the undercard. We all knew the top 5 was fairly weak compared to most years, so it made sense that 6-25 would be loaded with quality acts...and I just don't see it. The only acts I would really get excited for and try hard to get a good spot for the show is MMJ, Robert Plant, Run the Jewels, and Flylo.
Hate that I will miss Roo two years in a row, but it is what it is. Hope everybody that goes has a blast!

Yeah lots of top 25 worthy acts were way down the lineup last year. This year I keep looking at that 3rd line, everybody on the 3rd line could easily be on the 4th line. Throw any of Tame Impala, Rattatat, St. Vincent, Ryan Adams, or Modest Mouse on the beginning of that 3rd line and move a few acts down for them, the lineup becomes a whole lot deeper.
Just Realizing that I'm going to have to end up trying to pay for Governor's Ball and Roo too try and see everyone I want to this year. Was hoping bonnaroo would put more of them in one spot for me.

i'm really pretty stoked. we've known how disappointing the headliners are for a while now. had I just seen that top line for the first time i would've had a violently negative reaction.
The obligatory bands I'm interested in seeing without investigation of any bands I'm not familiar with to follow. Its a pretty long list, way longer than any other festival I'll be attending this year.
deadmau5 kendrick robert plant MMJ bassnectar flume hozier slayer ben harper spoon sts9 superjam atmosphere atomic bomb tears for fears flying lotus earth wind and fire caribou gary clark jr SBTRKT MSMW RTJ Bela Fleck Guster Against Me Jerry Douglas Bleachers Rudimental Freddie Gibbs and Madlib Shabazz Palaces Benjamin Booker Iceage Between the Buried & Me Dopapod Jon Cleary Pallbearer
Are we thinking they might have a really solid set of additions, seeing as the announcement was so much earlier than usual - and maybe they were scrambling to get the lineup out when others were dropping so quickly?
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
