i'm going at bonnaroo with a little different look this year. there a def a couple acts i really wanna see (mau5 nectar kendrick plant), but lots of acts i know little about, or edm that i don't usually always listen to. this year will be a year of discovering new stuff and not having such a hardline schdule. cannot wait to be back home though
I love how a bunch a people are acting like Billy Joel isn't a total score. That set is going to be amazingly fun. Yeah, the headliners are weak, and it's not their best lineup, but this lineup had plenty to make for a great weekend. Everyone is talking about acts they missed out on, but they are all acts that you will have plenty of opportunity to see this year. Slayer, Atomic Bomb, Billy Joel, TFF make this the most unique experience I've seen released so far this year.
Also, to anyone complaining about hip hop, you have RTJ and Gibbs and Madlib (the two best hip hop albums of 2014) and Kendrick Lamar, who's new album will be out by Roo. You're nuts.
Billy Joel is not what he used to be in the 80s or 90s.
He should certainly be better then Elton, imo, and deserves a headliner spot to be sure. However, there was room for a more contemporary "OH MY GOD" type of headliner.
Honestly there are def some acts I'm looking forward to but there were some heavy omissions. It made me almond at regret getting Presale tickets. Especially when Boston Calling has such a strong lineup for a small fest.
I live in Boston so BC is a must-see this year for me with Beck, Pixies, St. Vincent, TV on the Radio, and Tame Impala all absent at Roo.

Boston is like 11 hours away. I'm hoping some of them end up on Beale Street.

Pretty much echoing some of the sentiment of a weaker or at least surprising 5-20. Holding your breath for significant additions is a fool's game though. Just embrace what we have and try and find some gems you weren't familiar with.
Shut yo mouth , this is maybe the best undercard bonnaroo has ever had.
If that was true (which its not) then it would be pathetic, because the undercard is not that great.
I'd probably care to see the following acts:
Kendrick Spoon Slayer FlyLo Caribou Run the Jewels Jamie xx Rudimental Tycho The Very Best MadGibbs Jungle Iceage Temples Pallbearer
...and that's it. The most exciting bookings on here are Jamie xx, The Very Best, MadGibbs, Iceage and Pallbearer. And half of these acts will conflict, either on Thursday or a late night.
The first 7-10 lines of this lineup are a nightmare. I had (apparently unrealistic) hopes that they'd pull Hot Chip, Refused, Noel Gallagher, TV on the Radio, Modest Mouse, etc. Oh well.
There's twice as many bands I would see, so I'm sorry if you aren't into it. Not listing Atomic Bomb is crazy btw.

I feel like there has to be at least one addition in the 11-20 range. They added Rodrigo y Gabriela with CUBA late in 2012 and they were billed high on the main stage. Empire of the Sun was a good addition in 2013. But yeah, nothing too significant from here on out probably.
So, the Deadmau5 pit line. Potential to be the most dangerous and violent that we've ever seen?
I don't think it will be that bad. The which pit lines for EDM artists aren't that bad in my experience. I walked right into the skrillex pit the first time he played which with no line. So I imagine the what line won't be too awful for deadmau5.

We knew it was a weak year for headliners. Your expectations were unrealistic.

Really? How so? There were headliners at at least 3 other festivals that are outside of the radius clause they could have booked. I understand wanting to be "uni-q" but in a weak year, that would have been ok. I don't think I'm alone in this feeling

For the average Bonnaroo demographic, Mumford is kind of a contemporary "OH MY GOD" headliner that no other festival booked. A lot of people around these parts have grown tired of them, but I'm not sure if that is the case for your typical 20 to 30-something.

I don't know about that. Sure, I don't want to get my hopes up too much, but they announced so much earlier than usual this year - makes me think they kind of rushed to drop the lineup because so many other fests were. And therefore we really might get a few notable acts thru Additions.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Sorry, this lineup is lame. And judging by the reactions around here, for once I'm not alone in saying it. Even the acts that are good/great on this lineup for the most part are either going to be everywhere this year or were everywhere last year.

Roo did good filling out the undercard for the market ticket buyer. If someone is coming for Mumford they have lots of bluegrass folky stuff. If people are coming for deadmau5 there is lots of other EDM to rage to throughout the weekend. If you're coming for Billy Joel you probably enjoy paying to see live music.
