Any idea how kid friendly these are, if at all? And any idea on kids ticket prices if so? The girls would love the beach and the only way I could go that weekend was if I brought them.

Seaside Heights is sort of the exact opposite of kid friendly.. Maybe the fest will attract a higher class of people though.
So I've heard. The girls will be 9 by then but they have been to Buffalo Bills games and many outdoor concerts. We'd just hang at our camp, the beach and the fest and avoid the party areas but who knows if that is even possible.

I'm Super excited for this. I'll most definitely be going to Waverly to see MMJ, Flips, M & S, Dawes, and others. I couldn't have asked for a better supporting cast, fuck yeah. I'm going to assume that Dawes will lead into the Flips who will Headline Friday and MMJ will lead into M & S on Saturday.
To answer somebody's question, there will definitely be collaborations going on. That's one of the best parts of these stopovers. The small town feel is great. Get there Thursday night for the full experience. I had a blast in Troy Ohio 2 years ago on the first night. Made some great friends who i introduced to Bonnaroo last year, partied in some cool bars, hung out with some locals, and saw some amazing shows.
Honestly the two stops I went to were two of the best fests I've ever been to. The experiances were amazing and unforgettable. Anybody thinking about going to any these should pull the trigger. I like Mumford but they'll definitely be third on my list for the Waverly stop.
I'm really bummed about the locations - I hoped for something closer to me. Both NJ & IA are a solid 10 hour drive. I went to the GOTR site & it lists another stop "coming soon" with a fish icon. Any thoughts on where this could be?

I think it's a white whale. So probably Newport.
According to the Newport thread it said "AUS" before being taken down.

Hmmmm...9 hour drive to NJ or marking Australia off my bucket list? ???? I wish!!
Actually, AUS makes sense. I saw somewhere that they had promised an announcement that would please their Aussie fans. While I'd love for it to be another US date Newport wouldn't help much either way. Decisions, decisions...

I would be extremely surprised if it's the Newport (Fiddle &) Folk Festival down this way, as that's a rather small festival. No way the Mumf would come all this way for anything smaller than Bluesfest.
Also, NFF is in Rhode Island, so chalk up a few extra hours to that drive.

Yeah, I knew any stop with a fish/whale as the icon was doubtful for being closer. I was just trying to hold out hope that it was a brook trout! Lol

Since not being able to Do gov ball this year. This would be the perfect fest for me and my girl to attend. Beach side camping??? Fuck yes, do you think tickets to the actual show will sell out quickly?
E: My girlfriend is super into Mumford and Alabama shakes and flaming lips make it worthwhile for me.
It just went available for me again, but then after adding a ticket to the cart it wouldn't go through. Womp womp!
Ah - they could be releasing in waves.
No camping for me though. I've got family and friends who live in Ortley Beach who said I can crash - though if I was 22 and not 32 I would totally be camping on the beach.
Say what you will about Mumford and Sons, but these stopovers are great for many reasons. I'm originally from Dixon, Illinois and it was surreal seeing stages and hundreds of people in a park I go to frequently.
When they announced the first run of GOTR, they said they specifically were aiming for locations that most tours miss. Pretty cool of them!
Yeah, I went to the Portland GOTR '12 and loved it (it was very kid friendly moten33) and I wish SO badly that I could do Seaside Heights (although I have no urge to actually go to Seaside Heights), but yeah, horrible dates. I'll be at Mountain Jam. If MJ wasn't that weekend, I would have bought tickets to Govs Ball... Bad weekend. I wish Iowa could be an option for me. Now that one looks especially nice.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

Come to Iowa, it's going to be the best stop and I think it's the only MMJ stop. Plus the Flaming Lips!
Oh yeah, Iowa tickets were bought and I can't wait. The only thing that's going to be rough is that its the weekend right after Bonnaroo. No rest for music junkies, the struggle is real.

I took my daughter to the 2013 GOTR Stopover in Troy, OH, when she was 9 and we had a great time.
I would love to do the Salida stopover. That's a great small town and the views there are absolutely spectacular. Plus, I could fit in a whitewater rafting trip down the Gorge, though the water levels would be pretty low by then.

Iowa will definitely be the best stop! Buuuuuuuuuuuttttt I think I would die from exhaustion. And go broke. And run out of vacation days. I have a festival Memorial Day weekend (Boston Calling), the first weekend in June (Mountain Jam) and then Bonnaroo (and then NFF and possible two other fests in July- Vibes and/or Bisco if it reappears). I will NEED that weekend off! In addition, I have promised family time that weekend. I have a Bonnaroo birthday which my family hates because I am never around to celebrate it (and I hate celebrating it late or early), but I promised I would celebrate the weekend after this year because it's my 30th. My sister already has plane tickets to come home. It would be quite rude of me to pick up and go to Iowa. It would have been a great excuse to check Iowa off of the "states I've visited" list!

This is a question for those who've been to a GOTR stop previously. Did Mumford play an extended set, a bonus set, or anything above & beyond? Or do you think it will be comparable to what they play at Roo? I'm still on the fence on which to choose. Thanks!!
