I've listened to their catalogue and watched the set last night.
After watching I came here and was kind of surprised about the feedback. It was nice to get some response that was a bit more involved than "you're terrible" and "you just don't get it". But that was the majority. So my opinion remains mostly unchanged.
I really don't think it's a big deal.
But I do like being called booboo….it makes me smile.
After seeing Alt J in 2013 this set is leaving me meh. It's pretty clear that it's them, not the new songs, because the old songs sound like they are aren't in it. The sound is subdued as it is, but this is just underwater. His voice is unique and works when it connects, but when it misses, it really misses.
I think the dude that left added a lot to the vibe
I love Sturgill Simpson, but there is something about the way his voice sounds live that I'm not really digging. It sounds like he's playing up his drawl or something. To a point that if I didn't know the words to the songs already I'd have no idea what he's saying. They sound good otherwise but I'm just confused by these vocals. Which I'm really upset about.

I am going to go back and watch his full set tonight.

Watching Mac now. Sounds on point.
Ha. My plan was the reverse. Sturgill now, Mac later.

I have seen comments like this before. It may just be a matter of where I grew up but I've never had any trouble understanding him.
Gotta give coachella props. The realism on the live feed for Rac is amazing. I actually get the experience of being stuck behind some jackass with a totem.
