Not exactly SK related, but I see a ton of you that are putting All Them Witches in your must see lists and others talking them up. I saw them at Louderthanlife Fest last year and was not impressed. They would play a song, say thank you, tune their guitars for a few minutes, chat with each other, kill some time then go i to another song. This happened between almost every song. There was no energy at all. I know there were some travel issues and they ended up playing a later time slot than they were scheduled for. Just curious if I just caught a really bad set or if there is something about them that I'm missing.

Rothric should be able to give you a review here. He's seen them a few times. We were both at a show in Austin at Mohawk. I arrived late, but was really impressed with Kadavar and The Sword brought it. He said ATW, who I missed, were the best of the three.

This lineup has some really good stuff, but overall is a bit of a letdown after last year. Won't be going this year, but I hope everyone who is going has a great time.

I like a lot of it (Janes addiction, MMJ, Eagles of Death Metal, the Sword, Savages) but overall a huge let down. There is so much bad music on the bill

This lineup was good enough to get me down from Connecticut. While Walk the Moon and The 1975 weren't exactly inspired choices, you're really not going to do better for a festival this size.
At the Drive-in, Jane's Addictions and Deftones are all good gets that few festivals have. Florence, MMJ, The Decemberists, The Head and the Heart, The Kills, Huey Lewis, Explosions in the Sky, Shakey Graves, Savages, Foals, Silversun Pickups, Bloc Party, Cold War Kids, Phospherecent, EODM, Atlas Genius and that's just the top half. For a festival this size to have 25+ bands worth seeing is pretty impressive.

That must have just been a bad show. They were fantastic when they opened up for The Sword and Kadavar a few months ago, like FuzzyWarbles mentioned. I thought they were the best set of the three, and the other two shows kicked some ass as well.
I'm seeing ATW put on a headlining show later this month (first I've seen from them), and can't wait for it.
I'd give them another shot if you're into their new album at all.

Trying to think positive about it: those two will probably draw away a number of people, so better sets at the same time will be less crowded.

Which bands do you consider "bad music" on the bill?

Walk the. Moon and 1975
Those are the two I thought were cringe-y upon first sight. But the poster said there were "lots" so I was wondering what else. Partly to be argumentative I guess, but also because I don't know a lot of the smaller artists and was looking for some feedback before I dig in.

Oh no, the bottom of the lineup is the best part! Btw, He probably is including Huey Lewis in the "bad music" thing

I've been listening to the random playlist on the site and I haven't heard anything really bad.

Huey Lewis is pretty far up on my must see list, not gonna lie.

I'll check them out if they come by my area. I dig their album. Must have been a bad show. The stage they were on was a mess all day of bands on at the wrong time slot and such so maybe they were just thrown off.
I know that. I don't believe they've had other shows booked during the fest like this.
Just for the sake of argument I have been to multiple late night sets in Hell there. It's definitely possible that they could have something down there.
You're right though; I've never seen Heaven booked for anything other than Shaky Knees during that time period.

2 years ago they did I'm pretty sure
They've had non-Shaky Knees related shows during the festival weekend each of the last two years, though never on a Friday (not sure if that matters or not).

I know they've had late night shows that were bands that didn't play the fest. I don't remember anything like this going on during the fest, but I could be wrong.
