PTM played a late-show last year without actually playing at the park, I could see FlyLo doing the same...at least that's what I hope.
Will they let another up-and-coming act close out the fest?
I'm surev they would if there was another good option. I'm not saying there aren't any good options, but if can't think of an off the top of my head
edit: wait, I lied, if Vampire Weekend has another album out, I could definitely see that coming. I know they aren't really up and coming, but it would be their first tour headlining gigs
Don't know if the label up-and-coming fits, but Arctic Monkeys would make a killer headliner and I don't believe they've headlined any fests yet (American fests, that is).
Another one, though it might be too early to bring them back/bump them to headliner, would be Foals, who has their fourth album out and should be touring then.
This is a big year for this festival, in my mind, because it seems like it gained a little more legitimacy last year and they need to keep that momentum moving forward.

What about Blur as a headliner? I would love that. Also, what about The Flaming Lips? wait....What about Miley & The Flaming Lips?! I, for one, would love the hell out of this booking, but it would be a fantastic show.

Blur would be great, but I wouldn't hold my breath on it. I can go the rest of my life without seeing the Lips again.

I'm currently getting my hopes up for The Cure. They definitely fit Shaky Knees and their first announced show is in Hollywood the week after Shaky Knees, so I'm hoping they'll decide to kick off the tour with a small festival date. I'll probably end up not getting this wish, but mannnn would it be awesome if it happened

Hell yeah. Especially since that third Chicago date got added. I'd like to catch at least one of their shows this year

Wowwww, they added a THIRD date to Chicago!?
They added a third NYC date, but I don't see anything about a third Chicago date on their website. Interestingly enough, they indicated on their Facebook page that they won't be adding a third Chicago date. Take that as you will.

Man, I'm really gonna get hy hopes up for Shaky Knees. Though, if that new NYC fest really ends up being the same weekend as The Cure shows, I might spend the money to go to the final Cure show instead of seeing the fest's headliner that night

Shit. Totally my blunder. It was NYC that got the third date.
Side note: why are they playing in the theater at MSG and not the actually arena?
Some stuff I'd like that no one has mentioned yet:
Morrissey Duran Duran Fiona Apple Jane’s Addiction Big Grams M83 Haim Grimes Television Grant Lee Buffalo
I really want to see Fiona Apple with Watkins Family Hour. They played the same time as the MMJ unannounced set at Newport Folk Fest so I missed them but the few people I talked to during Roger Waters who did catch their set said she was a mess on stage. A beautiful mess.

We saw them last month and Fiona was amazing. I think she may be my favorite performer. She's so intense. Sadly the only times I've been able to see her were with Watkins, once with Nickel Creek. Seeing a proper Fiona show is near the top of my list.
I know I've mentioned this before, but I saw her the week after she got arrested for possession of hash in Texas a few years ago now, during the Idler Wheel tour. Her band acted as the opening band, adding members one at a time, until Fiona finally joined them. It wasn't flashy. There was no encore. But holy quacking shiz it was borderline life-changing. It was the most straight-up emotionally gripping experience I've had at a concert. She was having a mental breakdown before our eyes, unsure of how to process what was going on or what the future held, but pouring all of herself into every song she performed. When she sang a line, she meant it. When it was over, it felt like I'd just had one of the most cathartic conversations of my life. That unassuming Tuesday night in Charlotte became a night I will never, ever forget.

Morrissey would be great and fits wonderfully, I could maybe see Fiona Apple happening and I wouldn't be opposed to it, Jane's Addiction is right in there wheelhouse and I somewhat expect it to happen, maybe M83 but idk, Haim could definitely play before the pre-HL on the main stage, Grimes could certainly work as well and I'd be down with that, Television would be a fitting band and I'd LOVE that but idk how they sound anymore, and Grant Lee Buffalo would be a perfect fit for Shaky and I'd do dirty things to be able to lay in the field with my friends at one of their shows in the late afternoon/sunset.
However, Duran Duran and Big Grams... They don't fit. The era for Duran works but they were/are just straight up pop and doesn't seem like a good fit at all to me and Shaky Knees has NOTHING to do with hip hop so I highly doubt Big Grams would play. Though, I'd love both of those shows (especially seeing Big Boi in ATL)
I went to Shaky Knees solo in 2015, and had a blast, and am sitting here daydreaming about 2016. So while my students are taking exams, and while I should be grading, I instead wasted some serious time making my first mock. I realized it's hard. I was really reaching to fill the bottom lines and just went with artists who've opened for SK artists on their tours. I know it's probably top-heavy, but that's what daydreaming is for.
