God damn. Checked Ghosts tour dates and there wont be an aftershow. Shitballs..
Savages probably won't either. There will be plenty of other great options.
I was really interested to see savages and struts (I know I know, guilty pleasure) and therefore bummed about the conflict. And I agree that savages schedule doesn't allow for an aftershow.

Definitely would have liked to see Savages late night. But there's also the possibility of Slowdive, EITS, I would like to see EODM since there's a conflict with them on my schedule. Then there's Speedy Ortiz playing that show that I'll have to miss because MMJ.
Fri: The Japanese House>The Front Bottoms>Wolf Alice>maybe a bit of Cold War Kids>Savages>get up close for either the Kills or Slowdive, while simultaneously working through my sadness over missing whichever one I don't choose>probably Jane's Addiction
Sat: Hop Along>Day Wave>most likely Noah Gunderson cause then I can easily just stay at that stage for Wild Nothing but I might choose to do Shakey Graves into Phosphorescent instead>The Decembrists> My Morning Jacket
Sun: Julien Baker>Frightened Rabbit>probbbbbably Parquet Courts>St Paul and the Broken Bones>The Head and the Heart>EitS>Flooooorence
Running from Head and the Heart to Explosions to Florence is gonna be one hell of a work out.... Overall, happy with the schedule though!
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Because I'm not doing Bonnaroo this year, my vacation requests got screwed over at work. Shaky Knees was not a done deal. Just got the confirmation that my Friday request was accepted. So I get to do the whole festival. Pretty happy about that.
Gotta say I'm really liking the stage setup and schedule. Sunday isn't nearly as bad for conflicts as I thought it would be (YtG/EiTS is the worst one for me). The only thing I was missing last year was a tiny ass stage, so I'm glad that the Buford stage this year is really small.
I'll be doing a lot of stage hopping it looks like.
Friday: Beach Slang -> Saintseneca -> Kaleo -> Matt Vasquez then to Front Bottoms -> Baroness -> Sword -> CWK -> Savages or Alex G -> Bloc Party -> bounce between all the preheadliners -> Jane's, then 1975, then back to Jane's Saturday: Polyenso -> Strand of Oaks -> Hop Along -> Hip Abduction -> JJ Grey -> Shakey Graves -> Deer Tick -> Phosphorescent -> Huey Lewis -> Decemberists, maybe stop by Lany -> MMJ Sunday: Julien Baker -> Ought then to Coin -> Murder by Death -> Frightened Rabbit -> UMO -> ??? -> Houndmouth -> Head and the Heart -> EiTS, then YtG -> Florence
It's going to be pretty tiring. Sad that I won't get to see SSPU, Foals, Orwells, Walk the Moon, Wolf Alice, Black Angels, or Against Me! but the conflicts definitely aren't nearly as bad as last year. Most excited for EiTS, Phospho, Houndmouth, Frightened Rabbit, and MMJ.
NOLA 05- Orpheum Theater Summer 05 opening for SOAD (Pensacola crowd HATED tmv and basically booed them off stage after they went too far out during Drunkship) NOLA-08- HOB NOLA-08 Voodoo Roo- 09 - My first Roo, and I was not even gonna go until TMV and of Montreal got added, My two fav bands at the time back to back, then NIN later, best day ever. Omar solo w/ Cedric and rest of TMV @ HOB Parish nola......that was an awesome surprise. Basically played Noqtourniquet before anyone heard it.
Really wish I could have seen Deloused tour. My buddy that was a huge ATDI fan saw one of the first TMV shows at the 40 Watt during the Tremulant era. *jealous*
Also wish I could have seen them during Amputechture era as that is prob my fav overall album (I'm in the extreme minority). Would have killed to hear Day of the Baphomets live. Same with Eriatarka from Deloused.
Sorry to dig up a pages old post, but I haven't nerded out on Volta for a while, especially on here. Got to see them I guess 5 times. 1st was Myrtle Beach in 2008, and that stands up as the best one. Pridgen was indeed on fire for that period of time, and those jams and pre song intros on that leg of the tour were just outstanding. Then in Asheville later in 08, Bonnaroo 09 (which, yeah, being back to back with my favorites NIN as well as the rest of the day makes it tie with Saturday of Moutain Oasis ((hey, I saw Omar and NIN that day too!))as favorite day of music ever), Charlotte 09 (last show ever with Pridgen and I believe even Ikey, but I could be wrong about him), and as Omar Rodriguez Lopez Group in Asheville in '11 as they were previewing Noctourniquet a year before the album came out.
I'm dying for them to get back together at some point, but seeing ATDI here pretty soon is a definite pleasure. Really love ATDI, especially Vaya, InCasinoOut, and Relationship of Command, but Mars Volta is an all time top 5 favorite band for me.

That 2009 Roo show was great, even though Omar had to stop and retune is right after they started. I am with you kinda about Amputechture...well, at least in the ballpark. It's not my favorite (it has too much filler) but I dig it more than most people I think. I saw them at Terminal 5 in NYC on the Bedlam tour and it was classic...they closed with Baphomets. I was about 20 feet from the stage.

Might have to bail on this since the people I was supposed to go with backed out. If anyone has extra space in their hotel room/knows anyone with extra space pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease let me know
Well this certainly clears up that UMO/Parquet Courts/Diet Cig conflict. But now I'm tempted to go for the Explosions In The Sky late night at Variety.
Damn that's nice. Glad I got my hotel for Thursday night too because that kickoff party is looking pretty good. I'll probably want to hit up Foals/SSPU too since those are both conflicts for me at the festival.
Damn, going to be tough for me to swing....but I would love to come down late on Friday, catch the Foals/SSPU show, get a day pass for Saturday, then catch the EITS late show and head out Sunday.
It will mostly depend on where I am at in May. If I am working in Charlotte or Asheville I'm going to make it happen.
