I like Centennial for events, but it can't handle rain at all and now there will be 3 fests there inside a month...it was a complete mud pit after one night of 420 last year.
Yea, I'm kind of worried about this location. Like you said, Centennial is a mess when rains. Also I think it's actually smaller than last year's location. There's only space for one big stage and it always feels overcrowded there.

Shaky Boots is going on hiatus if that is one of the festivals you're referring to.

This is funny considering how many times you've made fun of the whiteness of the Bonnaroo lineup. Shaky Knees has been way more white than roo.
I use white in reference to Bonnaroo the same way I use the terms beige, vanilla, bland, or boring. Not in terms of the color of the skin of the people who listen to the music.
Tell me, Sang - can you give me some examples of "black people music?"
No, I can't. When I made that joke the lack of black artists at Shaky Knees was being discussed. I had honestly forgot about TVOTR and Trombone Shorty. So I joked about it. It's a very white fest, the bands are white, the crowd is white. The first year, I believe there were 2, Gary Clark Jr. and the singer for Vintage Trouble. I'm not remembering any from the 2nd year other than Brittany Howard and Charles Bradley.
Good for SK moving to a bigger venue. Would love to go again next year but I have a really hard time thinking the 2016 lineup can top this year's bill.
One band that would be an awesome get for them, and are pretty logical, are Super Furry Animals. They are playing a couple east coast shows the week before. Isn't a stretch to see them playing SK at all
I don't the numbers, but I thought Centennial was smaller than last year's venue. Though, it wouldve been great to have it there for me last year because my hotel was literally next to the park. If they go a similar route with Shaky Beats as they have with Shaky Knees, it could be amazing, but I doubt I'd go to both. Also, I think Big Grams will undoubtedly be at Shaky Beats

My source aka Mayo confirmed what I thought, Centennial is smaller.

This has been my hope since SFA first started doing shows again. If they get SFA and they do a LN show (at Terminal West is my guess at where) I won't really care who else is on the bill.

Isn't Centennial where they had that Final Four festival with DMB a few years back? That venue is small as sang's balls imo, unless they use more of the park that I didn't see.

I don't see any way they can have the dual big stages in that park. So that is a bit of a bummer.

According to a FB reply I just got, it's going to be bigger as it's Centennial Park AND International Plaza. I'm guessing this is good (I've never been)

Centennial held 50k for the Final Four concerts, it's definitely bigger. Additionally, they are using the International Plaza too, which is down the road. They're saying 5 stages again. I'm assuming 3 at Centennial and 2 at Intl Plaza. There was two sets of two alternating and a fifth kind of in between last year, so I'd expect the same this year.

Yea I mean that park can hold a lot of people it's just not as spread out. I heard there were 70,000 the day we went to Sweetwater to see Primus. When were trying to leave before Cage The Elephant played it was difficult to get through the crowd because there were so many people. I don't know anything about International Plaza, where is that?

Good Lord. Can they stay in a location two years in a row? As much as they liked the location last year, I could see why they would move it because there seemed to be a lot of empty spaces during the day.
Also, they have ticket prices up on the website. $150 Early Bird $209 Advanced $230 Regular $99 Single Day
Thanks for posting prices dave, I'll update the OP. Let's stop talking logistics and talk about which late 80's/90's'early 00's artists we are all gonna real excited about when they top this year's steellar lineup!

FWIW they moved because Atlanta sold the Civic Center and some of the surrounding. The developer has plans to turn the area into another mixed use facility. I can't imagine they'd be interested in having a music festival in that space.
I'm pretty bummed about the venue change. I think Centennial is a pretty crappy venue and it will be a slop house if it rains. Hopefully they will set up the park in such a way that you can see the stage from the second level of the field or at least put up some screens.

I think Chris Stapleton in the Jason Isbell/Sturgill Simpson spot is a lock. I would love to see him and The Steeldrivers.

If we are on the topic of drivers, I want swervedriver to be there (and I think it's def possible if they are touring at the time) also, Father John Misty is one I kind of expect! I'm surprised they didn't get him last year

Sturgil played Shaky?...Stapleton has played Atlanta twice this year, but I hope he's on it.
