Are there any videos of Gibbs & Madlib that you know of? I'm really sad they weren't on the stream schedule.
Ended up missing an assload of shows (Gramatik and Jungle on Thurs and all evening Sunday). I got drug away from EW&F but that sounded great. And I couldn't get over to Atomic Bomb. Also didn't get to see Flume.
1. STS9 - also by far the coolest fucking crowd this weekend 2. Slayer - Bonnaroo throwing a bone to harder fans 3. Moon Taxi - Awesome set 4. MMJ 5. Medeski, Martin, Scofield and Wood - A higher plane than most of the rest of the card 6. Bassnectar - was too pop in parts for me but some Bass Heads I trust were comparing with all time sets 7. Run the Jewels 8. Brownout presents Briwn Sabbath - can't ever get too much Sabbath 9. Kendrick 10. Flying Lotus - only got a little of this set, but I will see him again. Disappointments: Atmosphere - Come on man. If y'all are going to put stuff out with that energy level, show a little less misogyny. Childish Gambino - rap parts were okay, a lot of it was boring R&B. Myself - 13 days of camping will kick anyone's ass, but I should have taken in more caffeine in spots. VIP - no comparison whatsoever to the value you get at Wakarusa. Bonnaroo rules - opening VIP entrance every afternoon, dumb Festy Cab rules, etc.
1) Odds are The Rolling Stones in Nashville Wednesday night 2) Tedeschi Trucks Band (TTB) at the Tivoli in Chattanooga 3a) MMJ at Hangout 3b) The Word at Hangout - non stop in your face loud soul/blues/slide/funky stuff. 3c) Deap Vally at Hangout - for a band with just two musicians...absolutely amazing. 3d) Jeff the Brotherhood at Hangout - shout out to the little green men and the red thing that knocked the lead guitarist out for a couple beats. 3e) Jamell Richardson at Hangout - just a real surprise. 3f) TV on the Radio in the freaking hot sun and on the beach Hangout 4) Last First Friday Jam Night at the Lakeside Club local....Jesse Black, Ian Hunter and Hunter Wolkonowski

1. Flying Lotus 2. The War on Drugs 3. Jungle (rail) 4. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard 5. My Morning Jacket 6. Tears for Fears 7. Slayer 8. Belle & Sebastian 9. Brandi Carlile (pit) 10. Pallbearer
HM: Strand of Oaks, Sylvan Esso, Bela Fleck & Abigail Washburn, Caribou
1. Kendrick Lamar- Got the pit section, mosh pit going almost the entire time, had some great positive Kanye conversations in the pit line, first up close "headlining" show, he performed enough new songs and I spazzed out when Anna Wise came out 2. Mac Demarco - That was almost as magical as the Neutral Milk Hotel last year for me 3. Courtney Barnett - My love, she was so amazing, and the energy from the crowd on the last two songs were incredible 4. The Growlers- Funnest "dance" party all weekend 5. Flying Lotus- Very energetic, wasn't the same set I was expecting, the visuals were even better than I expected, and I lost my mind when he did the encore and played Thundercat, oh and Chance showing up 6. SLAYER - Walked right into the pit as my favorite song (Disciple) started playing, that crowd was nuts, Slayer sounded amazing, my mind was completely altered for the rest of the night 7. Raury- It wasn't that he always sounded great, but he was so genuine, such a great performer, and got me pretty emotional. That moment when everybody hugged, and the water bottle fights were so magical 8. Billy Joel- Took the advice of going up the left side, walked right up towards the front, great view, amazing people, so much energy and dancing, glow stick wars happening, Billy sounded great and made me laugh 9. Superjam!- What a mind fuck that was, I really thought I was about to be there till sunrise the way they kept going like that. Chance and Jack Antonoff ruled that show. Also "ladies and gentlemen Zach Galifianakis" 10. Jamie XX- Purely just good music and a great crowd. Loved how he didn't have a microphone and never said one word and we were all still into it
Very Honorable Mentions : King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard (honestly don't know how this isn't in my top ten, might have to just clump Mac, Courtney, and The Growlers together so I can fit this in) Childish Gambino Twenty One Pilots ( I don't like their music at all, but I went with my friend and was very impressed)
edit: oh and Florence & the Machine, I also don't listen to them but I was dancing like I've never danced before at that show. Also almost cried

1. Run the Jewels 2. Caribou 3. Belle & Sebastian 4. Atomic Bomb 5. Courtney Barnett 6. Alabama Shakes 7. Slayer 8. Kendrick Lamar 9. Robert Plant 10. Jamie xx
(From my phone so my apologies for any weird formatting/spelling errors)
1. Earth, Wind, and Fire Holy. Quacking. Shiz. Most mind blowing set of the weekend! Being in the pit might have added to the experience, but the non-stop funk was pure bliss. From the loose choreography between the 12 musicians to the bassist just being a straight up badass the entire show,ETW owned the Which Stage with the precision of seasoned musicians all while having that lighthearted attitude of not taking themselves too seriously that we saw with Lionel last year. Now I know some of you probably rolled your eyes when they invited Kendrick and Chance on stage to freestyle, but as someone who knows absolutely nothing about the rap genre, the whole ordeal was extremely enjoyable and got me super pumped! It also allowed ETW to groove an extra 15 minutes so no complaints here! Great energy, great guests, and a great set list!
2. Against Me! Being a veteran of dozens of punk shows, this set was everything I've ever wanted out of a punk concert. The pit was intense but not violent, everyone was singing along, and the band sounded great! The set list was a perfect balance of all their albums and they looked like they were having a great time. It was heartwarming whenever Laura and James would exchange smiles and the bass player's goofy grin made me crack up multiple times. Another thing that made me feel all the feels was there was a transgender girl against the rail to my left and seeing her freak out for every song was very moving. I was shocked when they didn't end with We Laugh at Danger and Break All the Rules, but the massive sing along that went along with Sink Florida Sink more than made up for it. 10/10 would sweat my arse off again.
3. Robert Plant and the Sensational Space Shifters I was so worried that Plant was going to cancel that I was checking the online schedule every hour for updates. And thank god he didn't because his show was a glorious experience! The Space Shifters were truley masters of their craft and I was suprised how spry Robert was! He used the whole stage while swinging that mic stand around and appeared to genuinely be enjoying himself. His voice was on point, and it was fun hearing him sing covers of artists he saw in concert as a teen as well as Zep and his solo stuff. The most incredible moment happened during a Whole Lotta Love. Maybe he does this at every concert or maybe it was cuz he cancelled his last 3 shows and his voice was all rested up, but during the intro, he chuckled to himself and said, 'Feels like I got my voice back!' He then proceeded to flawlessly belt out the first verse of Whole Lotta Love, nailing all the high notes and everything. It gave me shivers and in that moment, I fully realized I was seeing a living legend. Just wish he was given a longer set!
4. Ben Folds and yMusic Having seen Ben in multiple forms live, yMusic is my new favorite. In college, I got to perform with various bands and orchestras while working on my music minor, so seeing him play with a chamber sextet was very satisfying. Ben was great at introducing all the musicians and was able to get the most crowd participation that I've ever seen at a concert! All the new songs sounded amazing and he even saved a song to be played for the first time at Roo! My gf was less than thrilled that we were seeing Ben Folds because she finds his voice annoying and thinks he looks like a mole, but Ben's charm and excellent stage presence even won her over in the end! I hope I can catch him with yMusic again!
5. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard What a bunch of goons! I can't be alone when I say that I think their set list was PERFECT, both the songs they did as well as the order. The rock flute on Hot Water was killer and the Am I in Heaven/Pill mashup was brilliant. What suprised me most though was how GOOD they sounded. I was afraid it would sound muddy live with seven band members, but from where I was standing (near the soundboard) it sounded damn near perfect. Wish I would have moved close cuz I was the only one dancing in my area, but dat sound quality was worth it. So glad Bonnaroo booked them!
I'll do my 6-10 later cuz this phone typing is getting tedious.

01. D'Angelo and the Vanguard 02. My Morning Jacket 03. Mac DeMarco 04. Run the Jewels 05. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard 06. Florence and the Machine 07. The Districts 08. Alabama Shakes 09. Courtney Barnett 10. Iceage
I feel like that goddamn amazing D'Angelo set was a given for #1, but that 2-4 was very tough to rank.

1. Belle and Sebastian - probably my top show of all 5 years I've been to Roo. Came *this* close to getting on stage. I did manage to leap the rail into VIP though - with security's permission of course 2. Brandi Carlile 3. Flying Lotus 4. MMJ 5. Slayer 6. Sylvan Esso 7. King Gizzard 8. The War on Drugs 9. Pallbearer 10. Billy Joel
1. Flying Lotus (saw him twice in 2012, already loved it, but this show blew those outta the water) 2. Caribou (this was a perfect show to end the weekend with) 3. My Morning Jacket (great set as usual, none of the usual banter from Jim, they just took advantage of the full 2 hours and gave us a great setlist) 4. Jamie XX (this one may have jumped to the top of the list for me had he been able snag a late night show) 5. Jungle (loved the energy these guys brought, great start to the weekend) 6. Kendrick Lamar 7. King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard 8. STS9 9. Freddie Gibbs & Madlib 10. Strand of Oaks

I'm going to use this thread to post my general music thoughts.
This was my third Roo in a row and quite easily the best musically, which was surprising to me. I think is was due to a combination of schedualing that worked for me, powering through more sets than I have in the past, and taking much more advice from inforoo.
I saw 19 full sets and another 7 partials.
I thought the crowds were solid for the most part. Very willing to get rowdy.
The artists were overjoyed to be playing Roo. At least at the shows I was watching.
I saw a ton of great shows, and it was really difficult ranking the first 10 or so. I had to go to 15. Also, ill mention that nothing reached the heights of Damon Albarn last year or Mccartney/Tame the year before.
1. Caribou: wtf... FAR superior live than on record. 2. Kendrick Lamar: first time seeing him and I thought he ripped it. Could not have been happier than I was when King Kunta started. 3. My Morning Jacket 4. Courtney Barnett: I was right up front and caught some big time eye contact and exchanged mutual smiles on multiple occasions. Almost fainted. 5. Sylvan Esso: The thing that impesses me most about her is her ability to incite crowd jumping or movement via her dancing. A massive ball came into the crowd and probably dropped this set a few slots on its own. Was funny how she eventually handled it. 6. Tears for Fears: they sound good enough and they have massive songs. I think they ended with creep > head over heels > shout... great fun 7. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard 8. Spoon 9. Superjam!: This was so much fun and I considered putting it at the top of the list at first. I will say that this and skrilly jam are starting to feel like a revolving door of celebrity kareoke. I don't have a problem with that. Such a fun night. 10. Jamie xx 11. Temples: I find them boring on record, but they really set off the fest for me this year. I feel like this is what a Tame show would have done for me when they were touring Innerspeaker. 12. Jungle: this Thursday was phenomenal. 13. Slayer: wouldve been higher if I got to the beginning of the set and if I was just watching the show instead if being overly concerned with slamming into the next body. Also, seeing my little bro emerge from a Slayer mosh pit dressed in only a dirt-stained adult diaper was a highlight of my weekend. 14. Jessica Hernandez and the Deltas 15. Earth, Wind, and Fire: sound was a little low and I couldn't help but think I made a poor decision to miss RTJ even though I just saw them a month ago. Kendrick and Chance coming out to do some dancing and amatuer hour freestyles made it worth it.
