In the order I saw them except for the last spot.
Courtney Barnett (rocked way harder than in November) Jungle Alabama Shakes (damn Brittany wailed on Be Mine) Kendrick Lamar Flying Lotus Jamie xx My Morning Jacket D'Angelo and the Vanguard Caribou Spoon/Hurray for The Riff Raff
1. My Morning Jacket Though it was partially due to what I ingested before their set and the fact that i was in the pit, Jim and co. took me on a spiritual journey on Saturday evening. Dondante was particularly mind blowing. Mumford and MMJ should have been in opposite spots, because 11-1 was too late for me to really enjoy Mumford and I would have loved to see MMJ push past two hours late into the night on the What. Either way that set was quacking outstanding. Can't wait to see them again.
2. Florence + the Machine My chance to see her finally came and though I was exhausted and my voice was half gone by her set on Sunday afternoon, she fucking killed it. I really wish she'd played longer but there are few artists who could dominate an hour the way she did. The running along the pit barrier was great to watch and I was drawn in by her jumps and spins across the stage. But her voice is just so damn impressive. All of the pre-headliners this year turned in performances that were headliner worthy, and though I couldn't see her crowd from the pit, I have to imagine Florence had one of the bigger audiences of the weekend.
3. Flying Lotus This was my first legitimate electronic show, and I've been dying to see FlyLo for the past year or so. Fuckin wow. Even if Kendrick or Chance didn't do their verses (still don't know why they didn't arrange that) his show was masterful. Especially those visuals. I was relatively sober and was still entranced in what he did. I don't know if his regular shows are better or worse than what he did at Roo, but I'm dying to see him again.
4. Alabama Shakes Brittany Howard, Florence Welch, and Jim James are three of the most quacking awesome, in the truest sense of the word, people to watch. They just operate on this whole other level of performing than most artists do. Brittany was an Egyptian queen and shook the Farm with that goddamn voice and the songs were perfect. It helps that I'm a total sucker for a sunset set, and the way they moved from their sunnier first album during the day to the darker new stuff after night fell was spectacular. Hoping to see these guys on tour in the fall with all the time they need to really do their thing
5. The Districts This was my fifth time seeing them and I think it was the best they've been, which is saying something because every other time was great. But I just never expected a band to be able to own an opening tent slot on Friday the way they did. I still think the songs from their EP are a little stronger than most of their album (Funeral Beds and Long Distance were both phenomenal at Roo), but the set didn't really have any low points. I'm going to love seeing these guys climb the lineup over the years, as long as they don't burn out too early.
6. Dawes They never disappoint. One of the best daytime festival bands there is and it was great to see them on the mainstage. I got to the front rail and was joyously singing along to every word of every song. I think I saw bacon there but I was too shy to say hello. Duane Betts' guitar was down way too low in the mix which was a bummer whenever he soloed, but other than that they gave Roo an exceptionally solid set. Hoping I'll get to see them play a club show sometime this year. Again, I wish they'd played longer. All I want is a festival where every band can have as long as they want and there are no conflicts, is that so much to ask??
7. Kendrick Lamar I was complaining annoyingly to my buddies about him not playing TPaB stuff throughout the first half of his set, and then that closing run had me on my feet dancing and rapping my white ass off. However, I still think he's giving the wrong performance. Maybe it's just me, but I don't want Kendrick the Hype Man. I want Kendrick the poet. I don't want his set to be a party, that's not why I like his songs. I want him to do the kind of shit he's been doing on talk show performances. Kendrick, dig deep and do your shit and we'll enjoy it. I'm fine not hearing Maad City at all, you don't need to play it twice. Still, he did play i, These Walls, and King Kunta
8. Courtney Barnett She just quackin rocked. I don't have a whole lot to say, Thursday night seems like a distant memory, but her songs and performing were both on point.
9. The War On Drugs A great Saturday afternoon set. Got me ready for the MMJ set that came after. Some really fantastic jams and I just love Adam Granduciel's voice and lyrics. Their album also kicked off our 4am departure on Sunday night.
10. Hiss Golden Messenger This was probably my most surprising set of the weekend. I love their latest album, and was expecting the show to be nice mellow folk for my Sunday afternoon, but they delivered killer jam after killer jam. The lead guitar player had clearly done his fair share of studying Jerry's playing because he had a lot of that in him. They didn't play my favorite song of theirs (Mahogany Dread) and I didn't care one bit. Super cool show and probably one of the smallest crowds I saw all weekend. Sylvan Esso were there though, which was pretty cool.
I had to miss Saturday LN because I had a volunteer shift. I was pissed.
Honorable Mentions: Mumford (I would have enjoyed it more if I'd tried to get closer and if it had been a little earlier, but the "Get By With a Little Help From My Friends" closing was exactly what I was hoping for) MØ Hurray for the Riff Raff
1. D'Angelo and The Vanguard 2. MMJ 3. Strand of Oaks 4. Courtney Barnett 5. Spoon 6. Sylvan Esso 7. Florence and the Machine 8. Kendrick Lamar 9. Run the Jewels 10. Alabama Shakes
Others too close to call - I will say I loved Mumford but they did two lines of my favorite song on their new album and I don't know if he messed up or forgot the lines or what but he quit and moved on... I was so sad! lol
Dissapointments: Childish Gambino. I will say his set was really good, I am simply upset because it could be so much more. He skimped out on Freaks and Geeks and no real deep cuts from EP or Culdesac. The biggest struggle for me is how he doesn't intergrate comedy in at all. I think if could make a set that was half stand up, half rap that would be one of my favorite sets of all time.
What did you think of the stage setup? I only caught about 30 minutes of his set but thought the screens were cool, how they started separating so you could see the band behind him. Band sounded tight too.
I only caught that small piece of the show but surprisingly enjoyed what I saw.
I left Atomic halfway through so I could get a decent spot. Caught his whole set while slowly working my way from stage right to stage left to hit up slayer after his set finished. Loved the light set up a bunch, thought he sounded good too, some people complained how he went more r&b/singing midway through but he reeled it in swiftly and never got out of hand to me. Heard a lot of people left midway through, I could tell too cause it got easier to navigate through the crowd, but he saved a good portion of bangerz for the end which was awesome, really enjoyed his backing band as well. Hadn't seen a set like that with that sort of band from him before.

MMJ Florence Alabama Shakes Billy Joel Kendrick Houndmouth Dopapod- Kinda surprised me, cause I've never listened to them and I jammed the fuck out. Run The Jewels Bassnectar
Courtney Barnett - I took a massive weed nap right in front of the neon tent sign. Still a good set though. 10/10 would weed nap with Courtney again.
1) bluegrass superjam -minus the sound issues in the beginning 2)my morning jacket 3) moon taxi 4) earth wind and fire 5) Jerry douglas - nice tribute to Nashville's best earl scruggs 6) d'angelo - would be at the top if I caught a little more instead of superjamm. But those last few songs were best i saw all weekend 7)Gary clark Jr 8) a boy called banjo -best find all weekend 9) superjam - awesome moments followed by train wrecks 10) trampled by turtles
Honorable mention: the other 15 bands I saw Friday thru Sunday. Can't say I had a bad show which is rare. And a tip of the cap to new breed brass band. they totally got me in the spirit with a parade 2 the fountain as I walked into centeroo.

1) Kendrick - I'm as surprised as anybody. Highway to Hell was pure joy 10) The Districts
Honorable: caught the last half of Ben Folds, was incredibly positive and fun, wish I'd seen more

Courtney Barnett (I never had her on my radar but this show ROCKED!) Sylvan Esso Kendrick Lamar Bluegrass Super Jam Punch Brother's secret show Jamie XX STS9 Florence
Tove Lo Jungle Kendrick Lamar Deadmau5 Jamie xx Atomic Bomb/MMJ (glad I got to witness both, couldn't choose one) Dance Party Superjam Cherub Kalliope Florence + The Machine Caribou
2024 Lineup: 4/10 - HFTRR @ Larimer Lounge 6/1 - JRAD @ Red Rocks 7/18 - Dr. Dog @ Red Rocks 7/26-7/28 - Newport Folk Festival 9/19-9/22 - Bourbon & Beyond Festival
I never got over there. But I did have some decent meals.
Eat Box - had their 4 meatballs in a bowl with the chopped fresh onion and grape tomatoes. I skipped the feta. Very good
Viva la Fajita - marinated skirt and super fresh pico was surprisingly good
Rolling Oven - while I wish the crust could have gone another 30 seconds, I had a bad ass fresh tomato kalamata olive and whatever else pizza topped with fresh arugula. I also got a bite of the prosciutto pie and that was also good.
I liked the burger and fresh cut fries place near the main entrance, but no toppings? Wtf
Coffee Wagon - should have gone there more but they came thru multiple times with ice coffee and almond milk.
Baconland - yeah, it was rude and probably evil in the eyes of most religions, but I got that bacon flight. Haha. It was great and there were some slight differences in some of the 6 or 7 slices, but to me it was just mostly well cooked and tasty strips of bacon.
Amish bakery donuts - I didn't eat there but a lot of my people were talking it up.
Nana G's Chicken and Waffles - damn this was good as fuck. I was in need before Slayer and grabbed the fluffy Nana waffle with spicy chicken and maple syrup/butter. Damn, my mouth is watering. 2 of my kids told me the bacon strawberry was awesome but I never got a bite of that.
Had a few other random bites of Ozark Biscuits, Spicy Pie etc.
1. MMJ 2. Dopapod 3. SOJA 4. Sylvan Esso 5. Tears for Fears 6. Pokey LaFarge 7. Kendrick Lamar 8. Guster 9. Spoon 10. Bēla Fleck and Abigail Washburn
Least favorite: Christopher Denny. I love his music and his songs were great, but his stage presence was atrocious. I realize he had to tune up a lot because of new strings, but he could have played 4 or 5 more songs if he wasn't trying to be a stand up comedian in between each song.

Slayer Brandi Carlile Pokey Lafarge--ditto dreamingtree on that one, so much fun for the time we were there! Glass Animals-- sound was iffy the first couple songs but dramatically improved. Helped I was pretty close as well. Tears for Fears Bela Fleck and Abigail Washburn

No order
1.) Florence + The Machine - That set was probably my favorite of the weekend, but it's so hard to choose a number 1. I was surprised how much she moved for her performance. 2.) 80s Superjam - There were hiccups in it like the annoying feedback for a few songs, but there were so many mazing moments like "Enter Sandman" and "Tricky." 3.) Royal Blood - One of my major must sees of the weekend, and they did not disappoint. I had to get a pit view of the amazing bass playing. 4.) Rudimental - I thought this would be two guys DJing their drum n bass songs. NOPE. It's a 11 piece band with 3 sings and live instruments. That show was so damn surprisingly good. 5.) Jungle - Such a fun show. Whoever had that Bob Ross totem can die in a ditch fr blocking my view for half the show though. 6.) Flying Lotus - His light show was mesmerizing. I was so tired and needed to leave to sleep, but I forced myself to stay the whole time. Sad he and Deadmau5 conflicted, but I'm happy with my choice. Also his creepy fly like mask was bizarre but made his show just that much more memorable. 7.) Caribou - Super surprised how good they were and that it was a live band. I would have been at Robert Plant instead if the sound wasn't so screwed up. 8.) Hozier - Great show, but a little bummed he ended so early 9.) Shakey Graves - Man was that a packed 12:30 show. I went in intrigued, and I left as a fan. 10.) Earth Wind & Fire - They were so much better than I expected. So glad I can say I've sent hem live. Their shaky bass player was a bizarre dude, wasn't he?
p.s. MMJ would probably be on this list if I went to see them. I saw them at Hangout Fest this year, and that was my favorite show there.

1. Royal Blood. I literally felt my face melt as they totally rocked! Such an amazing set especially on my least favorite stage (Which). The drummer crowdsurfing while the lead singer continued to shred was classic!
2. Pokey LaFarge. Got in the pit on this one, stood next to cursedlono and just jammed out. Seen him twice before and this by far was his best set. Even got the setlist for a Twitter follower of mine! Pokey has grown into quite the entertainer and I expect big things from him in the future.
3. Tears For Fears. They sounded as good now as they ever have. Amazing set throughout! Plus I was hanging with SilentEyedStorm & katbur2 which makes everything better!
4. Robert Plant. The man still has it. If not for sound bleed issues, he may have been higher! Black Dog & Whole Lotta Love were just beyond sweet! Plus seeing crazydave23 doing the white boy shuffle is always fun!!
5. Slayer. I went for Whoreshack but stayed for the amazing metal. I loved their set. And while I think a lot of the songs sounded the same, I was impressed nonetheless.
6. Bassnectar. After seeing what I personally thought was a snooze-fest from Deadmau5, Bassnectar delivered! Plus hanging out with tealeyedangel was an amazing time as well! Loved his visuals!
7. 21 Pilots. Good show with great energy but the clusterfuck of getting people in to What Field dropped them a little.
8. Parlour Tricks. Not as good as their set last year in Cafe Where (which needs to be brought back to Bonnaroo NEXT YEAR FOR SURE), but still solid. Unique sound and amazing vocals plus I got their ONLY setlist!
9. Earth, Wind & Fire. I liked their set but was expecting more from the legends.
10. Phox. Maybe the biggest surprise for me on the weekend was Phox. I missed Alabama Shakes and Phox filled that void quite nicely! Love her voice!
Honorable mention: The Growlers & The Goonies 30th Anniversary Quote-a-Long with Corey Feldman

1A. Atomic Bomb! - I feel sorry for everyone that didn't go to this. I managed to bring three new friends including monkeybunny to this show, and holy shit it was a non stop dance party!
1B. Earth Wind & Fire- Let's just say that I took something that made me feel like a 5 y.o. again and Bonnaroo became my playground! Seriously, one of the top 3 most happiest times in my life dancing to EW&F! Also, that couple with the red serpent/whip rave thing was AMAZING!
3. Tears for Fears- Such a joy to see a band you thought you'd never get a chance to see.
4. Pokey- Very unique and fun band! Thx Pondo for recommending him!
5. Dopapod- Dance dance dance! Good to see jam bands on the farm!
