And I am for sure going to sign up for that concert archives site! My first show was in 1995 and I made the goal to hit 200 shows by the year 2000. I don't even want to know what the number is now.
Perpetual Groove 50ish times. If we're counting their side project stuff then it's even higher.
Umphrey's Mcgee I'm somewhere in the teens but less than 20.
Bands I've seen more than five times include Phish, moe., The Flaming Lips, My Morning Jacket, Dan Deacon, Drive-By Truckers, Galactic and Passion Pit.

I knew the first two bands were my most seen, but I didn't know the rest. It was cool to see that. DMB (18) Avett Brothers (16) Ben Folds (6) Jack Johnson (6) My Morning Jacket (6) Talib Kweli (6) Bob Dylan (5) Moon Taxi (5)

moe.! Totally forgot to add them to my 5+ list...
Edit: You know who else forgot about moe.? Bonnaroo.
I've seen Wilco 10 times, billed as such - so that's excluding a Jeff Tweedy "solo" show featuring all but one member, and side projects galore. Two years of Solid Sound makes it iffy what constitutes Wilco and what constitutes a show. Next would be MMJ, who I've seen 9 times (again, excluding Jim James solo).
Then there are a few bands here who I've seen close to that, just because they put on a reliably good show, play Sydney often, and play for cheap. I have seen The Murlocs and The Laurels a bunch. Babe Rainbow are getting up there, too.
I bow to thee. I just had my first a month ago, and it was amazing.
I'm quite fortunate where Moz is concerned, he doesn't usually go too long without playing Manchester. I managed to see him 4 times in a week once! Skint by the end, but it was worth it.

I kind of want to know when it was that everyone started going to shows. As in, how old were you?
I grew up with live music. My mother used to tell me the story of when I was three and they took me to see Burton Cummings, and I was really upset because in my mind, I was going to see Big Bird. Live music was always a part of my life and taking my kids to shows and festivals has always been a thing. The first concert I ever went to that was my choosing was Green Day when I was 11. That was in 95.

I saw the Manics when I was 9 (April '97). Morrissey, who I've seen most, started November 2002.

My parents went to tons of shows (their first date was a Santana show). I went to some shows with them when I was young. By middle/ high school when I could/ should have been going to shows with them, I was "too cool" for it. For some reason it took me until 2001 before I started going to shows on my own.

My first show was Weird Al at the Fair in '94 when I was 11. Started doing punk shows around '97 at 14.
First festival was Bayfest '96 or '97. First real festival- Voodoo 2002 at 19. Hit up indie/punk/diy/metal/hardcore shows all through high school and college.
Started hitting up legit concerts at 17, but only a handful a year my whole way through college and grad school. Finished grad school in May '09, then got taken to my first Roo and started hitting shows up nonstop afterwards.
Been to about 650 shows since then (counting festival days as one show and local shows with touring bands count).
One thing I strongly recommend is to make a Word file document and keep track of all your shows. It was tricky getting the older stuff so I had to hunt down ancient ticket stubs and flyers, do wikipedia and google searches for tour dates etc
You'd be surprised what you forget about. I keep track of date, band, opening acts, venue and city. Also keep track of all festivals in terms of keeping a list in order of every performer I saw.
Doing this has helped me organize my memory a lot better and I can remember shows better, as well as am able to easily make lists of 'best shows of the year', bucket lists etc.
My 16th birthday present was tickets to see my then favorite band Bush with Veruca Salt in 1997. For the next couple year after that towards the end of high school I can relate to the previous discussion in the thread about seeing bands like Soulfly, Korn & Limp Bizkit. Also recall seeing Reel Big Fish around this time as well and would become Sublime obsessed by graduation. That carried over into college where we partied to punk rock & had a dorm roommate who was super into emo music. I suppose my first festival might have been Warped Tour since I know I attended it for 2 or 3 years around the turn of the millenium but also recall local record label in Louisville hosted annual weekend of hardcore/emo shows called Krazy Fest and also a radio station put on yearly day of outdoor shows called LRS Fest so not sure which came first for me among those 3. After I left college I worked at Best Buy in the media department for 5 years and that is where my tastes really diversified and I explored back through various genres and decades. Bob Dylan blazed that trail for me which is part of the reason I've seen him so many times now. I was seeing him annually from 2002 up until last year but unfortunately he broke the standing date by not coming within 3-4 hours of here. I did start it over again though by going to Nashville to see him play earlier this year.

I was 18 when I first went to a concert - Genesis at Wembley Stadium.
I started taking my daughter to shows when she was a toddler. Nissan Pavilion in VA was near my house, so we would get lawn seats for everything there. She went to Phish, Big Cypress in the Everglades with us when she was 8 and still talks about it I started taking her to Bonnaroo at 14. Now Bonnaroo is too mainstream for her

Does she still attend other festivals?
Not really, she really hates the crowds. She never really fully enjoyed Bonnaroo due to her anxiety with crowds. She does go to lots of local small shows in Nashville though Bands I've never heard of

My parents were definitely not live music people when I was growing up, neither was my older sister. As a kid my parents pretty much only listened to motown, which as a young teenager just discovering metal drove me crazy, but now I'm really glad I was exposed to all that.
So I started seeing live music at 15, 1996, when someone's mom drove us to Biloxi to see Metallica. It was the Load tour with the big monster stage taking up most of the coliseum. Honestly it was a hell of a high bar to set for a first live music experience. Caught a few shows a year in high school and with a bit more regularity in college, but like Sgt. Blotter it was when I got my own income that the obsession really took over.

I really need to do this. I started a google doc a while ago but was quickly overwhelmed and gave up. I have a drawer brimming with ticket stubs that would be a great place to start.
My first show was Weird Al at a theater in Massachusetts in 2007. I was 12 then. I also saw Counting Crows that summer with my whole family. In middle school I got really into classic rock, and the only show I saw then was The Who with my dad. In high school I started going to shows with friends every once in a while including Brand New and Reel Big Fish, but most of my shows were with my dad because our music taste seemed to coincide and he started doing concert photography so we'd get into shows. I've seen a ton of great stuff with him over the years: Avett Brothers, State Radio, Portugal. the Man, Paul McCartney, Dawes. I went to my first festival with him too, Life Is Good Fest in 2011, a now defunct fest that Superfly put on in Mass. Some friends and I (and my dad) went to Boston Calling when it started up in 2013. I went to college in NYC in '13 and have been going to more and more shows since then. I've started reviewing shows so that I can also get into some shows for free. Went to my first Roo and Newport Folk Fest last year and am now fairly devoted to both.

My first concert was Hanson in middle school.
My first concert that I didn't need to be escorted by a parent was Saves The Day. I was 15. My mom dropped me off and picked me up and told me stories about all the acts she saw at the same venue when she was younger. She was also amazed that it was still standing. It burned down before I turned 21. Never did get to have a legal drink there. RIP Saratoga Winners.

My two older ones got to see Beastie Boys. I love that they got that experience.

My mom took me to two or three Backstreet Boys concerts when I was a kid. Other than that, I had almost no experience with live music until I was around 25-years-old and started going to shows. I'm 28 now, so I haven't been at it for too long, haha.
