Y'all laugh but Carly Rae Jepsen's last album was the shit and she has a great live show. Solid backing band and she's a pretty decent singer live.
Haven't listened to the album yet, but it's on my list for end-of-the-year listening. I imagine if she was at a fest I was going to I'd make an effort to see at least part of her set
oh boy. not sure all of these count as 'realistic', but all the same: Justice, D'Angelo, Portishead, Frank Ocean, Robyn in any form, Sufjan Stevens, Massive Attack, Underworld, and for shits and giggles, Carly Rae Jepsen.
Only 1.
Dear god, I'm sure it's most likely D'Angelo, which I'm happy about despite still being bitter from him being so late for his roo set last year, but if it was Frank Ocean I would hand over all my dollars immediately. Even without a new music rumor. dreamz

Don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but any rumors of Leon Bridges performing at Govball? I see he'll be in Pittsburgh the day before gov, and has nothing booked until the 8th. Can see him getting a mid day slot on that Saturday. I know he already has 2 NYC dates in March but they're sold out. Also The Decemberists did 2 nights in April and they still got booked so you never know.

I think it's more likely that he plays Bunbury that weekend, which is run by the same promoters as that Pittsburgh show
NYC is sort of the wild west in terms of festival booking. Bjork played like a million shows at the MoMA last year in the months before Gov Ball and still coheadlined a night. Playing shows in the area does not disqualify an act from playing the fest. If it's someone the promoters want to play, unless there is a deal in place with another company that would stop it, they'll try to grab them.
Must See 2018 List: 1. Drake 2. The Cure 3. David Byrne 4. King Krule 5. Moses Sumney 6. Dua Lipa 7. Mount Kimbie 8. Perfume Genius 9. Yaeji 10. Big Thief

^ That actually makes me really happy. Would love to see Govball snag Disclosure, Blink, Death Cab, Of Monsters and Men, Catfish and Elle King. And of course we know we got M83 which is awesome.

Man I would love to see Alabama Shakes on the lineup. I need some more confirmations asap cuz the reveals on the crossword puzzle have left me really disappointed.

Agreed. I'm really hoping for some good names soon. I'd like to book my arrangements asap.

Some on the eFest forums said there are rumors of YYY activity and tour next year. No source or whatever, but it would be cool. Would they still headline? Their last album was weak and I saw them sub at Coachella (albeit for two bands that wouldn't headline Gov Ball). I could see them closing a side stage like Interpol did.
I hope they give out clues for the entire crossword before they release the full lineup, but even then it's only 30 acts out of 63 or so.
I'd guess there's probably 1 headliner in the crossword, and maybe 6 or 7 of the top 10.
Yeah I'd see that happening. M83 and D'Angelo were in the crossword, right? I'd imagine they are both top 10.
I know it's not an exact comparison, but D'Angelo was 9th at Outside Lands last year, and M83 is listed 10th on Firefly's bill for next year. I'd guess one would be in the top 10 at GovBall, but prob not both.

I can see them having a slot like Ryan Adams had this year...opposing an EDM/Hip Hop headliner. No way could they headline, though. Their last show in NYC was at Barclays, and it sold soooo poorly. I think I read they only sold 4,000 tickets for a 15,000 capacity venue.
