I wonder how much (if any) of the Primavera lineup was close to play Governors Ball
Goth said they were trying to lock in Sigur Ros but they decided to go with Primavera for the better billing.
I'm actually kinda glad they are not playing Gov, because I feel they would be guaranteed to be billed against Kanye as the Honda closer, and that decision would be too hard to bare.

Just realized I'll be in Manhattan for my cousins wedding that weekend. Who's playing Sunday? Kanye? I could probably stay another day and check the place out.
Must See 2018 List: 1. Drake 2. The Cure 3. David Byrne 4. King Krule 5. Moses Sumney 6. Dua Lipa 7. Mount Kimbie 8. Perfume Genius 9. Yaeji 10. Big Thief
So I asked on Reddit about the safety of staying around the RFK bridge for this, and the response was preeeeeeeeetty negative. So what are people doing for lodging for this? Staying a few subway stops away on the Upper East Side? Staying near the ferry stop in Manhattan and ferrying in? Staying in Brooklyn and catching a shuttle? I'm looking for something for 2 that is nice but doesn't break the bank and is going to be easy for my old tired ass to get back to at the end of the night.

Have you looked at options in the Astoria/Long Island City area? I'll be staying at my friend's apartment in Forest Hills, and we're probably going to take the subway (N/Q line) to Astoria, then walk across the Triboro/RFK Bridge from Queens. If you prefer to take the ferry, it's a pretty short subway ride and walk from Long Island City to the 35th St/FDR Drive ferry landing. Here's a link to the subway map for reference: web.mta.info/maps/submap.html

I live in the area near the RFK bridge and can tell you there are some shady spots but it's mostly all good. If you have a location you're looking at specifically and want additional info let me know

Staying near the ferry is great for old tired asses, but hotels cost at least $250 a night for two after hotel taxes. Don't know about Airbnb options. The ferry was good but line to leave can be long if you're leaving from GovBall stage shows (Honda stage is much closer)
After talking it over with the boyfriend, we are in for Governor's Ball in lieu of Bonnaroo this year. looking forward to visiting NYC again and checking out this fest for the first time!!
From my research it looks like catching an uber back after the festival was not allowed last year. Do those of you familiar with the island think that will be the case again this year? I found a good spot in Astoria, but that might be a looong walk back at the end of the night.

I live in Astoria and walk home from the festival every year. Honestly it's your best option. You'll probably be back at your spot before most people are able to board the bus/ferry.

As a fellow Astorian I agree. I walked home all 3 nights last year....it's exhausting but not terrible....it was terrible in the monsoon 3 years back

From Astoria as well. Last year we walked the Astoria rfk side to the fest, then did the Manhattan side to the m60 at night, transferred to the n. Time was about the same, but it was more relaxing.

Any idea when the day by day would typically come out? I may be able to do both Friday and Sunday around the wedding. I don't really need to be there for anything on Friday but I am sure as hell not driving up the day of the wedding on Gov Ball weekend into the center of New York City. Since I have to be there on Friday anyway...
The details for this event are all so vague. I cant tell if he will be performing the album live, or if it's a fashion show for his new clothing line and Swish will just be soundtracking it.

It says live streaming the album so I would guess the second

Not sure why I expected otherwise, but pretty unimpressed with the new Bloc Party (can listen to the whole thing on YT). Still think they'll be a big draw at GovBall, so hopefully they'll take some of the crowd away whomever they're booked against, maybe FJM?

There were a few songs on here I enjoyed, but yeah unsurprisingly the rest of the album was a big "meh."
I'm sure the set will still be great, though. I'm really only a fan of those first 2 albums and I remember their set at Govball 2013 was heavy on them.
