Well this leaves a lot hanging on Roo's schedule now. If I can catch DCFC and M83 at Roo, then I'll skip them at Gov Ball. If not, then M83 over Killers is an easy call for me. Might watch a little of Death Cab and then go to Kanye.
Q: "since TLOP has a lot of featuring artists, is there a chance that some of them will get added to the lineup or come out during his set?" A: "Perhaaaaaps. You'll have to wait and see. -JW"
Frank and/or Chance are probably too much to ask for. Kid Cudi wouldn't surprise me though
Q: "My real question for you is: who were your optimum headliners for this year? I've heard that with the Panorama interference, it split some acts between the two fests. Curious to see who you really wanted the most this year." A: "We lost out on LCD to Panorama. That's the only one. LCD had a very lucrative offer from AEG Live (owners of Coachella, Pano, FYF, etc) to play a handful of their festivals. As an independent company, we just couldn't cut the same check size. -JW"

Does this mean Panorama didn't get Arcade Fire?
"Arcade Fire isn't touring until July, so they were never available to us. Not sure what you heard."
From the AMA. Sounds like a roundabout way of saying Panorama did get them.
They're also saying "Gov Ball is the only place in North America to see Kanye perform songs from his new record" I don't know how true that'll end up being, but that with the fact I'll also be able to see CHVRCHES play beforehand on the same stage.....I made a really good decision.

Just got there. That's a bummer. I never thought I'd have second guesses about going to Newport, but Arcade Fire/LCD is one of the stronger 1-2 punches a festival could pull this year.
"The acts that are playing Gov for a second time ALL have new music and are touring on new cycles. So in our eyes, it's all fresh."
Are they in a position to confirm a new Strokes album being released before the festival? I know they're supposed to be working on stuff (per Julian at Landmark last fall) but the emphasis on "all" seems to point to further knowledge of that.
They also commented on that... Basically said they dont know or they aren't saying anything.
Once again, just got there. I should read more before commenting here. But to me, it seems like they're insinuating The Strokes will have new music out. Could obviously be wrong, but I'll keep my fingers crossed. As long as it's good new music.

I love The Strokes, but I have no faith in them creating new music. I loved Comedown Machine and they've only played like 3 songs off of it. It seems like they view their new material as disposable in terms of their set lists. Its a shame as the Comedown Machine songs were the highlights of their 2014 sets.

I don't think it's so much their lack of enthusiasm about playing newer music, rather than the fraught relationships/dynamics between band members that is preventing new music from being recorded.

Well regardless of whats going on behind the scenes, their sets still rely heavily on Is This It material. I know a lot of people want to hear it, but I'm getting tired of hearing the same set for the past 6 years. They threw some bones to their fans in 2014 with stuff like Razorblade and The End Has No End, but their setlists have quickly devolved.

Yeah agreed but you can't blame The Strokes for predominantly playing tunes from their two best received albums, given that those were made during their prime. It's not like their other three albums had the same reception.

Well they treat Room on Fire similarly. Last American show had 8 Is This It songs and only 4 Room on Fire songs out of an 18 song set. Doesn't help that they don't even play their entire time slot. They've been late and left early every time I've seen them over the past five years.

What exactly did they say? I can't stand Reddit's layout when you're trying to find a specific post.
Literally just that. Someone asked if they were planning any sort of tribute to him and they said "That is in the works." Would love some more info, but based on how open they are about a lot of other stuff, I'm guessing there's just not enough info to give out at this point
