Alright. I finally have some time to elaborate on my day without burning data. Btw only doing/did Friday. I started out my day getting merch. I got the grey shirt and the poster. We dawdled for a bit then made our way to our first show BLACK PISTOL FIRE: Most of you guys were there and witnessed how great it was. They were unmatched in energy and seemed very excited to play. I caught part of the singer's guitar (a very small part albeit) After then we just kinda walked around and explored. Tried to find you guys at Bully but wasn't really feeling it so we left. I got a Black Tap shake and probably gained 10 lbs but who cares. I'm probably not going to New York again any time soon so why not spend $15 on a 20 oz shake. Action Bronson: This is probably the lowest point for my mom lol. She hated it. He can bring the energy in his rapping but his singing was some of the worst I have ever heard. I'm not very familiar with his music but it seemed like he was constantly forgetting the words. The crowd for this was expectedly annoying but not quite as annoying as the fans of... Father John Misty: I caught a little bit of OMAM before this but we were by the GovBall sign and my mom was eating pizza. FJM was one of my most anticipated acts and he sounded good. But the mixing was very quiet and I was by the most obnoxious people. They would literally shout the entire time calling him "daddy John Whiskey" and other jokes in the same breath. They would go from loudly insulting his "boring" music to saying "wait this is actually good" and referring to him as "woke". I left during True Affection to get a good spot for...
BECK: Not really much to say besides it was a great show. My two complaints were that HE ONLY SUNG HARMONIES and he didn't play his new song. But seriously I came to see Beck sing lead, not harms. What the heck. He even sang harms on parts that should not be high for him at all. I get needing to rest his voice but he isn't touring so intensely where he needs to do that much damage control. The two Prince covers (and the story about hugging him) made up for it though THE STROKES: I came in with a very negative attitude. They are one of my favorite bands of all time and have been a bucket list for me for years. But people had said so many bad things and their Capitol theatre show didn't help that they didn't play most of the must hear songs and in '14 they played the exact same set both nights. They were late as expected despite the lights turning off way too early and getting me too excited. But when they finally came on it made up for it. Julian's banter was not excessive and mostly funny or spoken from the heart. They played most of the songs I wanted to hear (One way trigger, I Can't Win, Under Control, and Evening Sun would have been nice) which is all I can ask for. Julian sounded much better than many videos I've seen and Nick's guitar playing was stellar. They had a surprising amount of stage presence based off of the videos. I cried during What ever Happened and UCoD and moshed to Juicebox. Everyone by me in the crowd was a huge fan as well and sang along to almost every song. 10/10 performance and I actually think it will go in my top 10 shows. All in all I had a great day. The crowd for the most part has to have been my least favorite if any festival I have been to. Granted I didn't go all 3 days so I can't totally judge it based off this but I thought Coachella and Lolla actually had significantly better crowds and less downtime. It's a great fest but I don't think I would come back unless it had another great lineup
I too only watched their set on the live stream, but yeah, they kicked ass! I wish I could've been there
Although I couldn't figure out who the fat guy playing bass was! When You Were Young is a perfect finishing song and they nailed it
It's some guy named Jacob Blanton (or something like that); Mark, their actual bassist, is still with the band and is working with them on the next album. He just wanted some time off to work on a solo album and pursue some educational endeavors. The group emphasized he is still part of the band, and will be playing with them again

He just threw me off for a second! I was like why is a guy from MMJ playing bass for the Killers
Awesome shows from both the Killers and HAIM today. I also thought Lord Huron was a lot of fun. My top 5 shows so far are probably Strokes, Killers, Bob Moses, HAIM and Black Pistol Fire. HAIM is an album away from headlining these things. Hope we don't get rained out tomorrow.

I watched the first 3 Killer songs before heading over to M83. So happy with that choice. Smaller crowd, great light show, and they fucking killed it. And ended really early, which was great cuz I got off the island before the stampede.
But damn did that rain suck today. Makes me really nervous for tomorrow. I am soo pumped for Prophets of Rage. Praying to the concert gods that this storm passes.

All the weather updates have the thunder predicted to start at like 4:30.....so why are they delaying doors? if anything get as much in now as you can, and if by 3 the forecast hasn't changed then evacuate the island.
You folks need to relax about the weather. Slight chance of showers/thunderstorms on Friday as a cold front passes through. Clearing Friday night with dry conditions on Saturday. Best chance of steady rain will be Sunday afternoon through Monday morning, but it's not going to be anything like 2013.
At the moment, present me would like to punch past me in the face. Between last night's surprise downpours and today's impending rain and thunderstorms, Gov Ball caught some terrible luck again this year.

Wow I feel horrible for you guys. Hopefully the rain can pass and y'all can get a killer one two punch this evening.
Can I just say though, I only went Friday and that may have been the best weather of any festival day I've experienced. It was overcast with the sun barely being a factor and it lightly rained a time or two.
Had to cut out early to meet someone at the airport. Bummed I missed M83 though by the time the downpour started during Miike Snow I was kinda over getting drenched. Did it continue to rain throughout M83?
