And I went over to the Quad right after for Benjamin Booker. Hopefully if they're back they get a main stage set
I was at the Quad for that show as well! Wasn't Benjamin Booker great? I just remember him saying at the beginning of his set "This ain't no folk show" and cranked up the distortion. I looked behind me and some of the older folks looked mortified lol
Going to see the Oh Hellos here the end of the month. Seeing Andrew Bird in April here. Also Florence and the Machine with Monsters and Men touring. Maybe Newport is among their stops.
Just putting it out there: I would love to go to that Boston Calling. I love Robyn, Disclosure, Sufjan, Miike Snow, and Haim. And Sia would be a fun show.
Lisa Hannigan and Aaron Desner would be a good booking for Newport, I think. I don't even know what their duet entails. But I assume it's folky.
Aaron Dessner and Lisa Hannigan would be incredible to see at Newport!
Seeing St. Paul and the broken bones in providence RI. they just confirmed that they are coming back this way for a festival in the summer. Confirmed!
I was at this show as well, just want to clarify before anything is confirmed that they said they were essentially done with touring for now after 2 straight years on the road, that they have a couple of shows left and a festival that they couldn't say, but never mentioned it was a festival in the area. Dont want to jump the gun, but they would definitely be the perfect Newport band. I was telling someone after the show last night that if they went straight to the fort stage they would blow everyone's minds. Great performance last night.

Yeah, I mean the only other "area festival" I can think of is Rhythm and Roots. I'm of course referring to RI when I say that
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
I think this board is a little bit more specific to Newport than a lot of the other boards are to their specific fest.
We're a Newport board?
Indeed. And I like that . A lot of the other fest boards have people who go to multiple fests and kind of talk about bookings, billing, etc from all over while this board is pretty Newport specific. I think it's a good thing. I come in here for Newport news, but a lot of people here are locals or only go to Newport and don't know or care about Sia, Robyn, Disclosure, Young Fathers or Boston Calling for that matter.

A lot of people ITT are also Newport vets who are local and go to both festivals, and like all kinds of music. We can all get along.

That would be amazing. I also have a feeling that the big gap could include some July festivals.
Question: Would you guys prefer acoustic Pearl Jam or Eddie? My vote goes to Eddie
Acoustic Eddie would be amazing, especially if he brings his ukulele.
I also noticed that the Sting and Peter Gabriel "Rock Paper Scissors" tour ends on the Friday of Newport Folk up in Alberta, CA. Could there be a slim chance we get them as a Saturday or Sunday headliner? Pipe dreams, I assume?
