I'm surprised CoS is calling FotC headliners, I didn't think they would have been big enough for that. (I'm sounding like beaker here hahaha)
Maybe they have a smaller Friday headliner this year so they could afford someone a little more expensive for Sat/Sun coughPAULSIMONcough...
Stop that crazy talk! Lol
I agree obviously, although they are a nice get, I don't see them as headliner. But hey, anything can happen at Newport.
I also think we have a good chance at Simon or Yusuf this year.
But hey, who the hell am I!
I agree, I don't see them as a headliner either. I was more referencing your denial of Decemberists headlining last year and questioning Ray LaMontage's popularity though. But if the shoe fits... lol
Well technically Iron And Wine should have been higher in the lineup last year if you go by that. He has a insane amount of popularity. But he was on the Quad stage.
I don't think they're headliners, but I said that about the Decemberists last year so I could obviously be wrong. The Decemberists are NFF royalty though, so it made sense that they'd headline. Ending with a comedy act would be a bold move, but not out of the question. Plus I feel like CoS wouldn't really know if they're headlining or not.

I think the difference is that The Decemberists said that they were headlining, right now our only source for FotC headlining is CoS, which isn't the greatest source.
haha what?! you guys are all crazy. I don't think you realize how massive Flight of the Concords really are, especially from an international standpoint. They have 1.6 MILLION likes on FB (about a million more than the decemberists and about 100,000 more than jack white) and they had their own freakin HBO show...like imagine if you were Newport and you had to put another band up against them...you couldn't...nobody would be there to watch it, they'd all be laughing their butts off at FOC...just saying.

While I totally agree with you, I'm still surprised to see them headline. I think it's just because they aren't a regular band. How often does a comedy act headline a festival?
They only have 180,000 listeners on Spotify. It would make more sense for a comedy show to be in a seated stage " hence the quad "
I guess I don't know if they're headliners or not, but no way they're anywhere but main stage. When I first saw them announced I initially thought either they're headlining or there is a really big name headlining. The fact they're on the same day aas Ray w/ mmj which could already be a headliner with out too much argument makes it seem even more likely.
I must say that Newport has been so much more organized this year with announcements and I'm loving it! Night and Day from last year.
Didn't it start off organized last year, and then later on out would be longer between announcements and people were getting mad. I always assume they announce stuff as they can. The acts they have to wait to announce isn't their fault

This year it seems that they have been announcing 9am on Twitter and 10 on Facebook. And it's been on the dot pretty much. I don't think it was that organized even early last year
So this will be my first NFF, I'm wondering what the stages and layout is like? I'm looking at pictures and it looks pretty tiny...how far between stages and stuff? Feel free to share any info you think would benefit a first timer.

It definitely is tiny compared to roo, 10 minutes from any stage to any other unless you are trying to get in or out of the fort at the same time as everyone else, then it can back up a little.
